Solved: Any desktop environment or WM with configurable placing/opening of windows?

When using TMUX, it is easy to create a script, which opens TMUX, configures the screens/panes of TMUX and open/run programs.

I like this a lot.

My baseline would be something like, when I login, some applications are executed and their windows automatically placed on a virtual desktop.

For example:

  • Open Firefox and put it on virtual desktop 1
  • Open Terminal in fullscreen and put it on virtual desktop 2
  • Open VSCode and put it on virtual desktop 3

Something like that is possible with sway, in the environment I am working, sway is not able to run XWayland applications w/o crashing.

Is there any way to have this functionality on Gnome, Mate, Xfce?

Even better would be something to open several windows and arrange them automatically for different work tasks/projects I am working on. Any ideas?

Edit: Solved! Thanks for the input. Auto Move Windows extension for Gnome solves my problem.

I see. So if you do not like something you feel a need to do something far worse rather than address the problem? Your point would make sense if you were able to show how simply charging those who pay the most, more, would stop them from trying to reduce their burden. Maybe if you suggested ending irrational tax deductions it would make sense but would you also remove such deductions from local trades men? Not really the subject here though. Bezos pays far more by income than you do so he is overtaxed and you get a great saving thanks to that but your petty jelousy leaves you crying. Sad.

Specifically in the case of Yugoslavia, Radovan Karadžić and Ratko Mladić were both convicted of #genocide, #CrimesAgainstHumanity, and #WarCrimes by the #ICC. In addition, Slobodan Milošević was indicted for genocide but died before his trial. So by your own logic and reasoning, you have set the precedent and made the case for #Israel to no longer exist. Jesus’ response to the scribe’s devout statement, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go,” is unclear. However, Church Fathers offer insights.

Jesus neither accepts nor rejects the scribe’s proposal. Instead, He clarifies what it means to follow Him. Some suggest the scribe desired rewards, as Jesus was a miracle worker, gaining popularity and potential leadership. This internal motivation is questionable.

Jesus’ response removes misconceptions. If the scribe wanted to follow Jesus, he must be prepared for poverty and homelessness, not riches and possessions. Jesus wanted clarity on the choice.

Jesus invites the scribe to follow Him, but only with this new knowledge. He emphasizes that following Jesus won’t result in earthly riches but in earthly poverty.

Why do you follow Jesus? Consider your motivations. Some follow Him because they were raised to, others because it makes them feel better, and others because they think it’ll improve their lives. But what’s the ideal motivation? It’s simple: we follow Him because He’s the Son of God and Savior of the World. Jesus invites us to live in union with Him through faith. So, we follow Him because it’s right. Love doesn’t love for benefits, Jesus is worthy of our love and worship because of Who He is.

Reflect on Jesus inviting you to follow Him into poverty, detachment, simplicity, and sacrifice. Do you understand what it means to be a follower of Christ? Can you follow Jesus for selfish reasons? Saying “Yes” to Him means saying “Yes” to His Cross. Ponder Jesus’ life and decide if you’re willing to follow Him to the poverty of the Cross. If you choose to follow Him, knowing what you’re saying “Yes” to, you’ll share in His resurrected life.

The people of northern Gaza have been denied food and clean water for three weeks. Hospitals have been bombed, medical aid charities have been prevented from entering; queues for scarce food targeted for missile and drone attacks and sick civilians have been burned to death. Those trying to leave have often been shot, including children – with adults who try to help them then also targeted for drone bombing and sniper attack.

I personally know people with relatives in the United States, or Americans living in Finland. It's shocking to realize that as a precaution when traveling to certain states, you now need to ensure you have proof (like family photos on your phone) and remove all instant messaging and message history containing critical posts about Vance or Trump, just to avoid potentially being treated as an illegal alien.

USA has become a fascist country. I'll likely never travel there, unfortunately. It feels too unsafe.

It's ironic that I traveled to Israel back in 2019 and felt safer there, despite only experiencing a few interviews due to having an Israeli name and family friends living in the country.
