“I held my daughter all night after the rain collapsed our tent,” Mahmoud, a father I interviewed in a camp near Rafah, told me. “I’m supposed to be her shield, but I was soaked and helpless.” His voice cracked.

That crack was defiance, not weakness. By letting his voice shake, by letting someone witness his pain, he was rejecting the expectation that Palestinian men must always be stoic. We are beginning to reveal our cracks to each other.

By letting their kids see their hurt, fear, and softness, fathers are demonstrating real strength. Our tears are not a sign of weakness, but an act of rebellion in a world trying to crush our humanity. Our emotions and our unwillingness to become numb to this pain are a form of resistance.

Jerome “Too Late” Powell, and his entire Board, should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to happen to the United States. They have one of the easiest, yet most prestigious, jobs in America, and they have FAILED — And continue to do so. If they were doing their job properly, our Country would be saving Trillions of Dollars in Interest Cost. The Board just sits there and watches, so they are equally to blame. We should be paying 1% Interest, or better!

Man do I love being a fix-it-up chappy.

I've been using this old PA. It's pretty cool. A Kustom Profile System 2 from the late seventies. 5 channels, 150W a side, built in effects. It belongs to a guy named Jazzy P. He paid $400 for it way back when. I don't know if I could use it with #GreyWails but for acoustic and solo stuff it's really great.

I fixed the effects a while back. There's a separate digital module that had bad contact to the main board. DeOxit is magic, did I ever tell you that?

I noticed something was rattling around in one of the speakers. What the hell?

So I took the connector panel off the back and found that the choke for the horn had fallen off the board. One of the wire ends had never been soldered. No indication at all that it had ever come through the back side of the board and the whole tinned end was still there. A bunch of the magnet wire had come unrolled from the spindle, wrapped around some speaker wires and unplugged both wires from the horn.

Re-wrap the choke, remove the old solder, solder the loose end, RTV the choke to the board. Put it back together.

Never noticed the horn wasn't working. I guess there was enough high end to cover for it from the other speaker.

Kustom Profile system 2. The Amp/Mixer is vertically oriented, channel inputs on the bottom with a bunch of knobs above. Speakers each have two eight inch round speakers and a small tweeter horn. The whole thing is gray, super neutral in color.

Re-watching the first season of #StrangeNewWorlds and I think I can say that this spin-off, above all the others... above Picard, above Discovery, above TNG, DS9, Voyager even, even above Enterprise and Lower Decks....

That Strange New Worlds hands down has got to be the best spin-off from TOS.
