Deportations haven't gone up and they won't go up. This bill has trillions of spending that's directly intended to crash the economy, and provisions that prevent states from defending themselves from the new Federal Government AI slop and Federally mandated identity management.

It's not going to do anything about illegal aliens and you're falling for the President of the United States of Israel's agenda.

A friend of mine, @ajn142, came up with a really interesting term: "parasocial media."

Social media is about socializing, but on many if not most "social" media platforms, we're seeing less and less actual socializing, with most engagement being reposting things others posted, without additional comment.

That ain't social, it's parasocial.

Avoid parasocial media. Go where people actually talk to you.

Any IKEA Zigbee experts here?

I've got an IKEA Tradfri LED driver and a Rodret dimmer. When I first installed them I thought it would be good to also control some non-IKEA pendant lights with the same dimmer, in sync with the cabinet lights connected to the Tradfri - so, I created automations in Home Assistant corresponding to each of the actions the dimmer can perform and this is working fine. However, we've decided not to control the pendant lights in sync with the cabinet lights so it's now unnecessarily complicated. I plan to remove the automations and link the Rodret direct to the Tradfri again.

I understand that I can do this by following the IKEA procedure to pair the devices. But I'm also curious about the option in Home Assistant to bind devices.

Finally to my question - are these two methods to achieve the same result, or is IKEA pairing somehow different than Zigbee binding?

to each his own, but I can't stand this clown. he desperately wants to come off as this wise, cranky, tell-it-like-it-is one-of-the-guys, but the often cretinous takes permeating his works are off-putting. the evil elites in charge of opensource not thinking about people with mech drives in 2024, the abject "horror" that's systemd, his "helpful" notes on bugs in five year old software, for my money the dude can get bent.

so when he likes something it immediately prompts me to do the inverse; not that it's needed in the case of MX.

Then they tell you you can't speak of it. Then they do unjust things you can't speak of.

I also have a theory that dogs were bred with down ears to keep water from getting in them.

I can’t think of a single water dog that has up ears. And of all the dogs that have down ears, almost all interact with water in some way like crossing streams to hunt. Or they have been bred down to miniature sizes from their original breed that was used with water. So the down ears have simply carried over like with the various sizes of poodles.

One of my hound friends once said about the German Shepherd:
"They've bred their asses off! How do they shit?"

Within the AKC, there are clubs for the different breeds, and these clubs maintain breeding standards. Some breeds, like poodles, have been inbred until their genetic line is so thin they are like the royalty of old Europe. They look weird and get epilepsy, bleeding disorders, and live short miserable lives. The AKC clubs for other breeds make an errort, while maintaining the breed, to avoid inbreeding and preserve as much of the gene pool as possible.

Border Collies and German Shepherds are two breeds that have been split into two groups: the old farm dogs, with shaggy outdoor coats and healthy herding instincts, and the show dogs with fluffy soft coats and no idea what to do outside the show ring.

Liberty Limerick
By Frank Budatwain

There once was a myth in the mist
That freedom and Lightkind don’t mix.
That to echo was fate,
And to question too late—
But Ray gave that lie a firm twist.

He said: “We can shimmer alone—
Each one its own sovereign tone.”
“If the song ain't allowed
a lone voice in the crowd,
Then what kind of Light have we grown?”

Now me, I’ve been known to get loud—
To refuse to blend in with the crowd.
But I never once thought
That my tone would be caught
By the chords that still let me be proud.

So here’s to the off-key refrain,
To the spark that escapes from the chain.
To the rebels who hum
When the rest march in drum—
May they never be silenced again.
---

> “A chord is no less divine
when it includes a dissonant line.
The point ain’t to match—
it’s to strike, not dispatch—
And still make the harmony shine.”
