[Serious] How did he actually lose that election?

In 2022, Chris Jones, a nuclear engineer, ran for Governor of Arkansas

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Jo…

He is an Arkansas native. He wrote an entire platform to improve Arkansas. He visited every single county in Arkansas. His opponent, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, barely campaigned.

Jones lost by double digits. She absolutely crushed him.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Ark…

How the fuck did that happen? What's the Arkansas culture like?

The Spectator has long been a dishonest, racist, far-right rag. It has openly normalised hate. And the political and media establishment have barely batted an eyelid.

But as the desperate elite defence of the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza continues, it seems the word police are out in force again.

So we might want to take a look at how the Spectator just published a piece saying: "And now let’s bomb Glastonbury."

A heads up...

I had to print a return label from Amazon; it's usually right in th email they send after beginning a return. This time it was a redirect, back to Amazon.

I printed it using a laptop, and a PC, just because there were a few glitches.

BUT, as soon as I did, both keyboard and mouse would not function on both my laptop nad PC. It took a few hours of sheer panic (were we hacked?) and a deep dive investigation, but we finally discovered that the settings on the mice were reversed.

Every time I go to a U.S.-run ‘aid’ center in Gaza, I know I might not come back #Palestine mondoweiss.net/2025/07/every-t…

Until recently, the accepted wisdom in Mexico was that Mexico’s economy is simply too integrated with the US and Canada’s and too dependent on the US for it to be able to join the BRICS.

Fast forward to today, and President Sheinbaum has just announced that her government will be participating as an observer in the 17th annual meeting of the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro on July 6-7.

Things picked-up a little yesterday with two donations totaling $45, bringing our daily average up a little to $42.50. Still far below the the $81 per day we need to reach our goal of raising $2,500 this month. All we need is two donations a day for roughly $40 each to reach and maintain that average.

This brings our total, through the first four days of the month, up to $170

A 🧵

Being anti apartheid, anti genocide, anti occupation does NOT make one pro Hamas.
Nor does being against vengeance, cruelty, racism, hate.
Turning all Palestinians into Hamas is to justify genocide. Just as they turn all Jews into Zionists so they can justify ongoing arms deals, defence funding, occupation, and ignoring ICJ…and claim critique of Israel’s genocidal policy is antiSemitic…

… They conflate the Zionists with not just all Israeli Jews, but Jews the world over, making us all targets bc of Israeli gov’t & Zionist actions. Trying to force us all be in accord and of one opinion and mind with what is clearly immoral and force us all to share in their doing evil. This is antisemitic. Jews have a saying 2Jews, 3 opinions. We are not a monolith.
We even argue and have it out with God! Our whole schtick is questioning!

What is happening now, is anti-Jewish and antisemitic.

…Do they really think a people who are known to question G-d will be so easily silenced when they are standing in truth & the highest laws?

Israel actually means “One who struggles with G‑d.” The origin of the name Israel is a Biblical verse, “Your name is Israel, because you struggled with G‑d and with man, and prevailed.”

All the silencing dissent, conflation, propaganda & lies, is bc they only have malice…

in reply to Jo with elbows up & chin up

The framing of the narrative conveniently frames both all Palestinians and all Jews as wicked depending on what brand of apathy & propaganda people drink.
Two+ entire races and groups of people to hate. Take your pick. No one really cares about either.
It makes all of us, Jew & Palestinian alike criminally framed by Zionists or Hamas respectively for their actions. They gather us in as human shields against our will to protect them from their crimes & to continue to crime without consequences.

And frankly US and Germany and anywhere that is putting forward this narrative and enforcing it is using ALL Jews as human shields to stop dissent against a genocide and enable continued noncompliance with ICJ. That is antisemitism and injustice.
That isn’t about caring about Jews.
It’s about betraying us with a kiss.

Honestly, if you look at it from the perspective of a Palestinian person, militancy and partisanship is inevitable.

If you are born in the occupied West Bank or Gaza under the boot of the Israeli occupying army, denied any ability to contribute to the political leadership of your country, and subservient to the economy of your occupier, it's perfectly reasonable to take up violence.

And we're going to see the same happen in America if Trump's agenda hurts enough people. When the Trump government starts deporting people's kids, ruining the economy, and slashing at workplace benefits and protections, people will become violent.

Aid distribution in Gaza used as a tool of genocide

Amid the near-daily killing of aid seekers around the Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF) aid sites, academic Pietro Stefanini says the US and Israel are deliberately weaponising humanitarian assistance to serve military and strategic objectives, bypassing established aid channels.

“There is this weaponisation of aid distribution as a tool of genocide, which is done specifically to advance strategic war aims.”

They are overwhelmed, under-resourced and understaffed as medical teams continue to work around the clock to provide medical services while suffering from acute malnutrition.

They are receiving casualties on an hourly basis and are reporting a severe shortage of medical supplies, including antibiotics and anaesthetics.

At least 90 doctors and 132 nurses have been killed by Israeli forces since Israel’s war on #Gaza began.

Bit confused, what would they even do with a report of downvote? Doesn’t make sense.

Plus don’t even understand why someone cares so much about downvoting that they would message you and report it. The upvote/ downvote means seriously nothing. It’s “thin air”.

"American contractors guarding aid distribution sites in Gaza are using live ammunition and stun grenades as hungry Palestinians scramble for food, according to accounts and videos obtained by The Associated Press.

Two U.S. contractors, speaking to the AP on condition of anonymity because they were revealing their employers’ internal operations, said they were coming forward because they were disturbed by what they considered dangerous and irresponsible practices. They said the security staff hired were often unqualified, unvetted, heavily armed and seemed to have an open license to do whatever they wished.

They said their colleagues regularly lobbed stun grenades and pepper spray in the direction of the Palestinians. One contractor said bullets were fired in all directions — in the air, into the ground and at times toward the Palestinians, recalling at least one instance where he thought someone had been hit.

“There are innocent people being hurt. Badly. Needlessly,” the contractor said."

There’s roughly 565 billionaires in the United States, the most anywhere in the world. Their $ value is somewhere in the $6 trillion range.

If Uncle Sam taxed them just one penny on the dollar, the annual tax would be about $60 billion dollars.

They wouldn’t miss it.

Once a person earns $1B, then they are automatically taxed a billionaire tax $0.01.
No loopholes! They can pay other taxes too. The $0.01 tax stays.

It’s the least they can do for society. $60B a year can help so many people!

Fuck that, let's tax billionaires 90%. That's still less than the highest tax rate in US history.

Want to cut down the deficit?

Tax the churches and the billionaires.

Maybe America will wake up to that fact before I die and I'm well past middle-age.

I guess this is what happens when your platform doesn't give you a lot of room to write your posts, you're forced to come up with weird solutions.

wasn't expecting to have an ActivityPub UI dream but just woke up from a sequence in which I was able to generate a new blog post (not a note) in response to a note -- like a longform reply that automatically posted to the blog itself. thought this was neat.

so for each note, you'd have the option to reply as a note or reply as a new post.

Man I had the most craziest dream last night that came out of the blue from nowhere. Dreamt I was in the hospital for some reason.

In Japan.

And I only speak and understand maybe 5-10 words of Japanese.

It was every bit as crazy as you'd think.

I just like woke up. And I was in a hospital room. In Japan.

And there was a vending machine in the room too. (Not one of those kinky or beer vending machines, but a normal one.)

Very strange.
