this is my opinion on it (sorry i'm verbose): he knew that the national debt is getting ridiculous and that if we keep kicking the can down the road in paying it, it edges us closer to things like hyperinflation, and reduces the legitimacy of US dollar to the world.. It also sucks that so much of tax-payer money (about $1.2 trillion in 2025) is being wasted on just paying down the interest.. That's a bunch of money that hard-working people are having to pay and it could be going towards things that improve life for americans but instead goes to pay interest..
He thought that trump cared immensely about doing things to radically curtail the national debt and wasted spending because trump was touting and praising DOGE and elon so much, and elon was doing a wicked cool job at finding fraud and bloat and taking down USAID which was just a huge slush fund for evil fraud shit..
but then it seems to him like trump kind of just dropped every thing and stopped caring because he is putting up like the hugest spending bill in history i think, and it does some good things, but it isn't good for the long-term because it isn't being fiscally responsible, and it is going to end up leading to even bigger percentages of people's tax-payer money being wasted just going in to the void of paying stupid interest..
