Sixty years ago, NASA’s Mariner 4 captured groundbreaking views of the Red Planet, leading to a steady stream of advances in the cameras used to study other worlds. In 1965, NASA’s Mariner 4 mission brought Mars into American living rooms, where TV sets showed fuzzy black-and-white images of a cratered landscape. The spacecraft took 21 […]

Yemen to keep attacking ships in Red Sea until Israeli operation in Gaza continues tass.com/world/1988117

#BRICS has declared the #Gaza Strip an “inseparable part of the occupied Palestinian Territory” and called for a unified Palestinian governance under the Palestinian Authority.

BRICS also called for the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza and all parts of the occupied Palestinian Territory, as well as the release of all hostages and detainees held in violation of international law.

In a joint declaration, the bloc reaffirmed its support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and an independent State of Palestine. The statement also endorsed full Palestinian membership at the United Nations.

The member states expressed “grave concern” over #Israel’s continued military operations in Gaza and the blocking of humanitarian assistance, strongly condemning the use of #starvation as a weapon of war.

Brazil’s president says the world must act to stop what he describes as an Israeli “ #genocide” in Gaza as leaders from 10 emerging BRICS nations gathered in Rio de Janeiro.

“We cannot remain indifferent to the genocide carried out by #Israel in Gaza, the indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians and the use of hunger as a weapon of war,” President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva told leaders from China, India and other nations on Sunday.

Un tal Josep Borrell es la nueva sensación de redes sociales con sus tuits contra Netanyahu. ¿A alguien le suena ese nombre, el de Josep Borrell? ¿A qué se dedicaría antes de ser ‘influencer’? 😅 😬

Between 1946 and 1990, over 200,000 barrels of radioactive waste were dumped by multiple European countries in the international waters of the Abyssal Plains in the Northeast Atlantic Ocean, at a depth of over 4,000 metres. These barrels contain waste embedded in asphalt or cement.

I don't think anyone should be looking towards him for a #moral #compass. But checks out that he would support a #genocide"

in reply to Rose

Dear Ya'Quib (😆),

Remember God had said there would be enmity between the serpent's seed and the woman's seed.

If the serpent's seed (Cain) would die so soon--and the line ended--then what God had proclaimed would be would then not be.
So God marked Cain and kept him from death not for the sake of Cain, but for the sake of God keeping faithful to His own word of what would be: an enmity between the seeds.

"I have been a wanderer, even a trembling one, in the earth, and it hath been -- every one finding me doth slay me."
What people does this sound like, btw?

This isn't just a curse on Cain himself, but on his discendants--just as covenants with Abraham or Jacob are not only with an individual--or how descendants are referred to by a forefather ("Jacob's trouble", "Esau I have hated," "David will have an everlasting kingdom," etc.).

Sincerely,
Someone on the toilet who has to go do an errand now

P.S. Rose, the Mark of the Beast was that of keeping under the approval of the church (dragon's tongue, lamb's horns)--minding in thoughts and deeds (forehead and hand)--under threat of excommunication, anathema, etc. (no longer able to sell, buy, regardless of whether a peasant or a nobleman, etc.).

P.P.S.
I am typing this before leaving for a day of errands, so I won't be writing on it more today, at least. Everyone have a good day 🎉

@monarchist @truthbait it's astonishing to me that some people exist in this alternate reality where israel actually wants to "defeat hamas" and end the hostilities. if hamas just surrenders and returns the hostages, then israel will stop the carpet bombing and total takeover of gaza... but wait, that wouldn't be good for the greater israel project would it. so they actually don't want this and will label anyone as "hamas" to continue the genocide and the land grab

If Ham-ass simply surrenders, problem solved.

Today in Labor History July 11, 1947: the Exodus 1947 left France for Palestine carrying 4,500 Jewish Holocaust survivors with no legal immigration certificates for Palestine. The British boarded the ship in international waters and sent the Jews to refugee camps in Europe. Over 100,000 Jews tried to illegally immigrate to Palestine as part of Aliyah Bet. More than half of these immigrant ships were stopped by British patrols, with most of the Jews (roughly 50,000) being sent to internment camps in Cyprus, Palestine, and Mauritius. Over 1,600 of them drowned at sea and only a few thousand reached Palestine. Of the 64 vessels that sailed in the Aliya Bet, Exodus 1947 was the largest, with 4,515 passengers. Many historians believe that the ordeal of the Exodus 1947 played a major role in building international sympathy for the plight of Holocaust survivors and support for a Jewish state in Palestine.

The Jewish paramilitary group, Haganah, bought the Exodus 1947 for Aliyah Bet activities from a wrecking yard precisely because of its dilapidated and dangerous condition. They believed that the British would see the danger to its passengers and allow it through their blockade. However, the British boarded the ship anyway and a battle ensured. An American Jew was clubbed to death. Two passengers died from gunshots and several British sailors were hospitalized. And the passengers were deported. In retaliation, the militant Zionist groups Irgun and Lehi blew up Central Police HQ in Haifa on September 29, 1947. Ten people died and 54 were injured, including 33 Brits, 4 Arab policemen, an Arab woman and a 16-year-old were killed.

Leon Uris wrote about it in his 1958 novel, “Exodus.”

Yes, I do get paid. Sometimes considerably (for what tech writing can provide).

Indeed, writing tech articles on Medium has allowed me to get some extra income/free-time in between jobs, which I use to upskill myself and then share what I learn with the community (with some amount of friction regarding the paywall). This self-reinforcing loop is quite appealing to me, and - I would argue - aligns somewhat with my take on the Kantian categorical imperative.

For what it's worth, I like the typesetting. Medium also has extremely good SEO, likely from some direct negotiation with search engines, I assume. Eventually I plan to move my tech writings to my own blog, with some sort of minimal ad system, no paywalls. Also, I usually unpaywall my tech articles after the window of high income dries up.

I updated the post to use the "friend link" which should allow you to read for free. (I didn't realize you could edit the link on lemmy after publishing).

in which case I’d much rather pay directly to the authors.

All my stories have a link to my ko-fi at the end, but the income from that is significantly less than what I get from Medium directly.

Edit: Thanks @hayk@lemmy.ml for donating! Much appreciated!
