We can say that people brought disaster themselves without wishing for disaster to harm them. So BBC management never disputed the documentary’s facts—only the reporter’s public acknowledgment of them. Wouldn’t this be like canceling a #Holocaust documentary not because the facts were wrong, but because the reporter’s social media posts showed sympathy for victims? Or does BBC management believe that there are no uninvolved in Gaza deserving sympathy? Was Navai supposed to show more empathy toward the IDF or Israeli suffering after Israel killed more than 50,000 people? The BBC’s adoption of a line the Israeli regime would very much approve of is embarrassing. Or maybe that’s really why the documentary was canceled?
