Although the Syrian forces claim they were trying to deescalate, they have joined forces against the Druze. Israel is taking advantage of the situation for its own territory ambitions
The Syrian Ministry of Defense expands security in the towns of (Al-Thalaa and Walga) after the expulsion of the Hijri militias from them to become on the outskirts of the city center of Sweida.
Druze militias are requesting negotiations with the Syrian government.
The Syrian state requires surrender with the surrender of all weapons without any conditions to all armed groups in Sweida to spare the battle on the city, and there is no negotiation without it.
So while in Syria the civil war continues with Alewites, Druze and other victims, and while at the same time there are signs that ISIS in Syria is reviving, European countries are repatriating Syrians considering Syria a safe country.

So how does it work? Very simply, two twin robot accounts will be responsible for passing your messages to the other world.
So from Mastodon: your contact is @xmpp_bridge, who you can follow to sign up, then send and receive messages from XMPP.
Each time you send a message, you do as you would for any private message: mention the robot account from Mastodon or send a private message from an application such as Pixelfed or Friendica, for example.
Address your XMPP recipient(s) with the prefix xmpp: followed by their address (without spaces). You can reply directly to any message you receive.
You can also manage your block lists to prevent spam, and you can report any abuse to your administrator.
Not interested? Don't worry, you won't receive anything until you register.
Get started! Obviously, this is only of interest if you know XMPP contacts (and vice versa). But it's also an opportunity to try out and promote instant messaging.

L'architecture est simple : deux comptes robots, un dans chaque monde (backend Python avec Slixmpp et API Mastodon) se chargeant de faire écho de chaque message pour l'envoyer dans l'autre monde. Avec un traitement des adresses, listes de blocages, etc.
Ça reste pour une utilisation simple et à échelle modérée (chaque compte robot étant soumis aux limitations imposées par les serveurs Mastodon et XMPP auxquels ils sont rattachés).

Mohammad Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri (Abu Khaled), or most commonly known as Mohammed Deif — The Guest: A man who led the resistance from the shadows, his name chanted by millions, though little was known about him. But that didn’t matter. What mattered was that he was the shadow of the resistance, dedicating his life to the fight for freedom. And the people knew that.
Born in Gaza in 1965, Deif studied science at the Islamic University of Gaza. During his time there, he was active in religious, student, and humanitarian work—along with a passion for theater. In 1989, the occupation forces arrested him, detaining him without trial for 16 months on charges of working with Hamas’ military wing.
His release coincided with the rise of the Qassam Brigades, which had begun executing operations deep within the zionist entity. Deif moved to the West Bank alongside several Qassam leaders from Gaza, overseeing the formation of a West Bank branch. He rose to prominence after the assassination of Imad Aqel in 1993, and oversaw several successful operations against the occupation, including the capture of zionist soldier Nachshon Wachsman in 1994.
In the year 2000, he was arrested once again by the Palestinian Authority but managed to escape detention following the outbreak of the Second Intifada. This marked a significant turning point in the development of Hamas’ military capabilities.
Mohammed Deif was appointed as the commander of the Al-Qassam Brigades in 2002. Upon taking leadership, he established a military training and development academy, later revealed after the occupation’s withdrawal from Gaza in 2005.
Deif is credited with numerous strategic successes for Al-Qassam, most notably in the field of missile development. Under his command, the Qassam Brigades transformed their arsenal—from primitive rockets with a few kilometers’ range to missiles capable of reaching every occupied Palestinian city, from the far south to the north.
Mohammed Deif rarely appeared on media, the last being on the morning of October 7, 2023, when he announced Al-Aqsa Flood. He survived seven assassination attempts by the occupation, in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2014, and twice in 2021. He suffered burns, lost an eye, and, according to occupation claims, lost a leg and sustained arm injuries in another.
In 2014, another attempt on his life killed his wife, Widad Mustafa Harb Deif, and children including a his three-year-old daughter and his seven-month-old son, Ali. Yet, Deif remained committed to resistance.
Despite never revealing his face to the public, Deif became one of the most beloved and respected figures in the resistance. People from different countries and backgrounds pledged allegiance to him, for what he represented.

Some plants, like tomato plants are self pollinating but even then, sometimes you have to give them a hand by gently shaking the plant like if wind made them move a bit.
Some others, like bell peppers, if you pollinate them, can lose their flowers if they have too much water. I would look it up with search criteria being zucchini loses flowers or something similar.

@dcc @verita84 dnssec can definitely work to verify tampering (or lack thereof) across the wire, but it's not for everyone. introduces latency in the request-cycle, and if by chance you have clock-skew it can cause problems.
a nice alternative is running a local resolver (pick one) and tunneling the requests over wireguard to a vps endpoint. this way tcp/53 udp/53 are forced up the wire and xfinity/comcast/whoever can't fetch and rewrite/steer it.

Just saw a post hypothesising that Fedi is populated by the most privileged/wealthy people across social media; asking that people respond to a poll with how much money they have, so that this data can be passed to a marketing person.
I think, to really get the most out of a retro system, you need to at least be an interested amateur with programming. That was almost expected in the 80s -- that you would learn some programming language or another and make the software you wanted. The passive consumption model was much less important back then.
I mean, you can still have a good time just playing old and new games on these things. If that's your bag, then I support it fully. But if you think you might be interested in learning to program, you can do a lot worse than learning to code for a C64 or a Sinclar Speccy.
it helped that you could grab a book like ‘80 programs to manage your personal finance in the basic language’ etc. with a clear path of learning code to accomplish something personally useful instead of just coding for the sake of slogging through some incomprehensible corporate bullshit. a whole ecosystem of ‘computer as universal tool’ vs. subscribing to the least worst software package on the market etc.
The most fun I have with my XP era machines is building software with older tools. C# and .NET come to mind, mostly because it's the toolchain I used to use before I stopped caring about computers and software in about 2019...

My roof sprinkler experiment was a success. It reduced my air conditioning by half. If you have well water or aren’t raped by water cartels I suggest it. My water schedule is 15 on and an hour off for evaporation. I just used a flat soaker/spray hose and a cheap chink WiFi hose valve. I 3d printed peak vent hose holders to get the north and south sides of the roof.

If I sunk more money into the system I could make a nice grid and really tune it for some short spray times. Probably next year. Shit maybe I’ll plumb in a spigot to the roof while I’m doing the AC pex. Less ghetto than the hose running along the fascia. Slightly less ghetto anyway!

A whole flock of them ended up here in my gentrified proglib coastal california town and they ARE being pandered with guided tours, their flag flying from the civic building, the local press touting their 'refugee' presence as an indication of 'caring', all in the hope their upper middle class displaced selves will spend their money on the overpriced real estate here.
Retrocomputing is as much about a community doing things for each other as it is about the neat toys or the cool old fashioned games. It's as much a reaction to and against the Way Things Are as it is anything else -- the Way Things Are fucking sucks, and any alternative is worth preserving.
I just watched a YouTube video called “Movies Historians Absolutely Despise” and once again, I’m reminded of how carelessly, even dangerously, “history” has been treated in mainstream culture.
It’s not just the inaccuracies. It’s the way those inaccuracies get sold to us as truth.
Many of the films highlighted were marketed as “based on real events,” when in fact, they were strategically crafted lies, for dramatic effect.

What we consumed as harmless entertainment turned out to be a delivery mechanism for full-blown propaganda, narratives completely untethered from reality, but deeply effective in shaping what people believe.
The result? Entire generations walking around believing stories that were intentionally manufactured to protect the power, prestige, and perspective of the privileged.
When you grow up believing these stories, taught in schools, reinforced in media, echoed in everyday conversation, undoing them doesn’t just take learning something new. It requires unlearning everything you thought you knew.
That’s why the impact of misinformation and disinformation is so hard to challenge.
Because when a lie is wrapped in nostalgia, repetition, and collective belief, it doesn’t feel like a lie. It feels like “common sense.” It feels like “truth.”
So much of what we’re told is “fact” is actually fabrication, designed to preserve the status quo. And when that status quo has always served you, it becomes easier to defend the lie than to face the cost of truth.
This realization has made it increasingly difficult to trust the intentions of people and institutions I’m not in community with.
Because without shared values, without accountability, without relationship, truth becomes negotiable. And liberation becomes impossible.
That’s why I’m building spaces for truth-telling and unlearning. For people who are ready to go beyond the myths, challenge what we’ve inherited, and create new narratives rooted in honesty, liberation, and equity.

Too many reports talk about grooming of young girls, put into situations where they should never have been (parent alert: how on earth did they allow their daughters to go on such trips?).
