@Edizionilazio From what I can see from the video, it looks like the drone might be carrying a thermite grenade and it has some sort of pin pulling mechanism to start of the reaction and then the molten contents are just spraying randomly down on whatever is underneath. I don't see any evidence of fires being started. Maybe useful in summer months of dry tinder? Resulting smoke/fires might also be a good guide for artillery followup. Just not sure this is actually much practical use.
in reply to Infoseepage

They are using them from an year or so now, its much more than a distraction or harassment, its actual effective destruction, its an incendiary weapon by all definitions of the term. The few wasted bullets dont mean much in the big scheme of things. You can see how many ammo boxes are just thrown to the ground when troops deploy from an APC
Thermite just goes through all sort of stuff and a drone delivers it very precisely, UA has been even following whole trench lines with them

@isaackuo It reminds me of when Ukraine first started putting out videos of them using drones to drop surplus RKG-3 anti vehicle grenades on Russian IFVs. The grenades weren't of much use to actual soldiers, but they had a whole bunch of them sitting around, so why not put them to some use? Then they started swapping out the fuses and adding fins and they became more effective.
in reply to Infoseepage

@isaackuo Seems to me that something similar applied here. Someone found warehouse full of these thermite incendiary grenades and a team went to work. If you can hover low and slow over an exposed vehicle, maybe some blob of molten metal hits upholstery or some spilled oil or something and causes a real problem. If not, maybe you've wasted 20 minutes of a squad's time stamping out brush fires and firing their guns wildly in the air instead of doing something else more useful.
in reply to Isaac Ji Kuo

@isaackuo It does appear they're using some sort of premanufactured canister with markings on it. I'm not sure if this is a pre-war grenade or something new they've come up with. There is a wikipedia article about these things and I've found a few pictures of the units themselves.

in reply to Isaac Ji Kuo

@isaackuo Interesting. Clearly Ukraine has at least some drone models capable of heavy lifting. Saw a recent video where they were using a drones to drop artillery shells and those things weigh close to a hundred pounds. This one doesn't look near that big/capable.

Doesn't take much of a tech base to produce canisters filled with rust and aluminum. I'm continually impressed by Ukraine's creativity in doing a lot with the resources they have available.

in reply to Isaac Ji Kuo

@isaackuo @Infoseepage
It's quite possibly an "off the shelf" item, used for on-site welding - especially of railway track. Then you just need a container with a hole in the bottom for the igniter and a suitable heat-resistant lid to protect the drone as it pours molten steel onto the target.

(Someone was selling "NR Grade Thermite" on eBay UK a few years ago - I suspect the NR stood for "Network Rail".)

in reply to Cadbury Moose

@Cadbury_Moose @isaackuo I'm doubting cots. I'd guess they're making up something from scratching. It isn't terribly sophisticated kit, just some sort of tube to hold the mixed powder and and igniter and as you say, some sort of shield to prevent the drone from damage. One interesting bit to me is that the molten material isn't just all plopping out rapidly once ignited, so they've got something that is holding and extending the reactants so that they spray out over time.

A Simple Fix for the Healthcare Crisis: Outlaw Insurance

Both sides in the health care debate have vested interests in screwing the pooch, so to speak, and little interest in solving the problem. Neither side ever asks, "What is the problem?"

The problem is simple to understand -- medical costs are too expensive in America. Fortunately, the solution is just as simple -- outlaw insurance. Insurance is a form of gambling, and, like any casino, insurance companies . . . stormfront.org/forum/blogs/u15…

Stickers, in the 90s? Are you sure? I believe we've been calling them smileys. I don't have any BBS software sources at hand, but PHPbb and SMF were among the most popular forum engines in the early 2000s, both call them smileys, e.g. here:
github.com/phpbb/phpbb/commit/…
github.com/SimpleMachines/SMF/…

Sticker is a relatively "young" term IMO, I think I encountered it for the first time when dealing with Telegram or something like that.

in reply to Howard Chu @ Symas

Oh, yes, that could be true! 🤔
But I see, @mirabilos@toot.mirbsd.org means real-life objects that inspired them — makes sense, but for me it wasn't like that. This could also be country and language specific.
In any case — yes, for the sake of correctness, emojis are original Japanese characters, but I personally don't mind the term being used more broadly 😁

I think there was a belief that Trump was going to be the "disclosure president." I have come to the conclusion that we mistakenly believe that the president (and that goes for any president) has more power and control than he really has. For instance, once Trump released the JFK documents, most of us thought there was nothing dramatic in those documents; that there was no reason these weren't released decades ago, and hence, the meaningful stuff has been held back.

Challenge: Prove that an Epstein client list exists.

Over the last 4 years that I have been collecting and cataloging news and memes I have saved almost 60K images.

I read every charging document on Ghislaine Maxwell, and I saved every piece of evidence related to the case that I could find.

I have never seen proof that an "Epstein client list" even exists let alone that it would be trustworthy if it did.

Is there anyone that can prove it exists? I seriously doubt it.

Robert R. reshared this.

in reply to Robert R.

The "list" is several thousand documents and data objects deemed sufficient to start a conviction process and due diligence filing. A single piece of paper - even if it was "These following people banged minors at my island. Signed J. Epstein" - does not exist. Unfortunately, that's the narrative that's been sold by spokespeople and the media. Right now, I don't care about the long term; I just want people to be indicted and removed from power.

Don't use there service, especially for work that you don't have the right to relicense to them (e.g., commercial work that's exactly the most likely to create the huge files WeTransfer specializes in).

So... I printed a pocket sized gas filter cartridge to mouth adapter. It fits and works! Great for all the other times when one doesn't want to carry a full face respirator around everywhere for the occasional less than lethal dog fart.

I found this has already been designed, "3M Filter Adapter for Snorkel Mask (dual or single filter)" and I chose the single filter and printed it, and here is the success. It will need an oring (which can be printed with TPU filament LOL.) The only change I would make is printing it slightly smaller at 98% for a better fit to the cartridge and 100% infill for strength, so just started another print.

And possibly another revision, to print the whole thing in TPU as this is held by the mouth and teeth 😁

Hope can be a tricky thing.

We should all hold out hope that things will improve, that despite how bleak it may look, things have a way of getting better, or if they don’t that we ourselves can improve and be changed by circumstance into something more than we believed we could be.

However placing your hope IN some government, some country, some politician, some ideology or some policy is foolish.

We must all learn to draw this distinction, and stay on the right side of the line.

in reply to Consider The Raven

Well said.

There are those who look at 'saviors' in our politicans. Biden or Que Mala will save our democracy!

When Trump won, these same people claimed Trump supporters were a cult. Who knows, some may be.

However, intelligent people realized Trump had many good statements and was better than any alternative available.

Of course we are disappointed. We did not expect the yellow brick road.

However, we need to defend against the cultists who worship big gubmint sans Trump.
