Evening Reflection: In just a few days, it will be BSD Cafe's second birthday. Two years ago, I never anticipated what would follow. What was once a dream - this kind of community - has transformed into a reality. I set the table, but the Cafe isn't just me; it's all of you. It's the Fediverse, it's Matrix, it's a group of people who want to communicate, who want positivity, who want to grow, who have a passion and an interest. This morning, I announced the Journal, and the enthusiasm shown was comparable. And that, for me, was a gift.

II Quelques faits : Le temps de travail par actif des français est supérieur (1489h) à celui des allemands (1335h). Le contrat de travail français prévoit en moyenne 38,2 heures par semaine, contre 36,6 heures pour les Allemands, III Répéter comme des perroquets « les français ne travaillent pas assez » est stupide, et relève de la Fake News la plus totale. Mais il est vrai que le taux d’emploi est + élevé en Allemagne qu’en France autrement dit que le chômage est + important dans notre pays. IV Si le chômage est + important en France qu’en Allemagne c’est essentiellement un problème de compétitivité. Le produit français se vend plus mal que le produit allemand. Pourquoi ? Regardons les « suspects habituels » : V (a)Problème de prix : le FMI montre depuis des années dans les External Sector Reports que l’Euro conduit à une surévaluation de la production française de 15%. (b) Problème de qualité (vrai parfois mais pas toujours) (c) Choix du type de produit par l’entreprise VI Le problème (a) devrait se traiter par une dévaluation, comme lors de l’arrivée du Gen. De Gaulle en 1958, ou en 1971. Le problème (b) se traite par un effort de formation de la main d’oeuvre. Le problème (c) par un bon choix de l’entreprise VII Aucun de ces problèmes ne se traite par un accroissement du travail. Faire travailler plus quand on a du mal à vendre ses produits et que l’on a déjà 7,4% de chômeurs (au sens du BIT) est simplement stupide et va aggraver les problèmes. VIII Par contre, aucun de nos perroquets médiatiques ne parle de la baisse relative de la productivité du travail depuis 2021. Elle est pourtant importante (décrochage de 8%) mais largement inexpliquée IX Or, une stagnation ou une baisse de la productivité détériore encore plus notre compétitivité ET empêche un financement correct des retraites. C’est donc une question décisive pour l’économie française. X Mais, cette question de la productivité se traite (entre autres) par un effort accru d’investissement. Le problème est que, depuis plusieurs trimestres, l’investissement des entreprises, de l’État et des ménages baisse. XI On voit qu’augmenter le travail de ceux qui déjà ont un travail est absurde puisque l’on ne pourra vendre plus. Faire baisser le chômage ne serait possible qu’en BAISSANT le temps de travail, tant que l’on ne vendra pas plus. XII Pour résumer : augmenter le temps de travail (individuel ou collectif) n’a pas de sens tant que nous n’aurons pas dévalué (20%-25%), tant que la formation restera défaillante, et tant que nous n’investirons pas plus et massivement plus.
