I cosplayed as a Russian supporter (under my real name btw, I have nothing to hide), then actually ran their Ddosia client from a PC which could only access their C2 (so couldn’t actually execute attacks).
I used video game modding tools to automatically extract the AES encrypted config ( ) and automatically dump it into Excel spreadsheets so defending orgs knew what to block.
Lots of the ISPs wouldn’t disconnect their C2 servers due to law enforcement, geopolitics and threat intel vendor incentives (selling tracking is $$), so I used to submit them as spam servers - many ISPs automatically null route spam, so they’d get cut off from supporters.
Thanks to those who helped me with that, it cut their support base in half.

this story also reminds of that one time I tracked down some german teenager running a DDoS for hire service, bypassed cloudflare through various methods to find his server's backend IP, and then ran a bash one-liner that signed up with bogus accounts until it accidentally filled the disk and crashed the MySQL process on the server.... taking it down for everyone
