It was even more vibrant and busier then. Not just Alito’s and Fisherman’s Grotto, but hundreds of eateries up and down the Wharf and throughout San Francisco.
So sad to see that all closed down now. And for no good reason.😢

I ate like a king for cheap. North Beach and the Wharf were fun. but too pricy Loads of concerts Filmore West, Winterland, Family Dog. Saw at least 30 bands I've got the tinitus to prove it. I've never been to San Francisco, but I will say that one of the best fish-n-chips dinners I've ever had was at this indoor restaurant in Seattle where I visited friends 20+ years ago. (Both have moved since then.)

I think it's as @pluralistic says - (massively paraphrasing) the increasing value of shares matters more than revenue. In tech, revenue has "always" played second fiddle to increasing share value - the old "we'll sell below cost price and make it up in volume" sleight of hand. AI doesn't actually *have* to make money, as long as it *looks* like it will, someday. And if that means compromising another revenue stream, it's worth it as long as the share price continues to go up until they think up the *next* big thing (scam)...
