Jesus fucking Christ. I hope no Fortune 500 is still using #Cognizant today.

We had an in-house help-desk at my last company and they were hands down the best in the business. They knew they were our front-line of defense and they took their jobs very seriously.

It didn't matter they were the "help desk", they were a critical part of IT and the rest of us in IT made sure they had the respect their positions deserved too.

But this? This is insane. It's also a damning lesson about the dangers of outsourcing critical business processes to organizations and people you don't manage or control.

Lorain police sources confirmed to the FOX 8 I-Team that three city police officers were shot Wednesday afternoon.

Two officers were seriously injured and flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, a Level I Trauma Center. Another officer was transported to Mercy Health – Lorain Hospital.

The I-Team learned just before 3:15 p.m. that a suspect in the incident is dead.

@raintrees @toddGood news, bad news, I asked the support team at my web host and was told this: This specific issue was due to an AI Bot protection that was added to your account to stop an AI attack that your site was under earlier.

So, I guess someone hates one or all of my shows, or podcast sites are good targets for site takeovers. At least now I know to always check with support first in case there is something going on.

Not surprising really, Starlink was incredibly successful. They even raised their monthly price and, in places with high usage rates like where I live, they added a very large premium to the signup cost to discourage new accounts.

Why discourage people from signing up? Because even with the constellation a big as it is today, customer numbers are overwhelming the capacity of the satellites. It's the same dropped packet problem as Hughes–but without the insane latency.

As a result today Starlink is expensive and somewhat slow at certain times of the day. And, as the constellation continues to grow, Professor Lawler's entirely justified complaints grow as well. But it's still–by far–the best option if you live somewhere without land-based high-speed Internet.

We're all human and know things usually associated with our hobbies or employment. But in these cases, I always remind people of the oldest lesson in the book.
