Trump's visit to Scotland is going to be messy. We didn't invite him and we don't want him here. There is going to be widespread and very visible protest in full view of the World's press. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Starmer's Labour Government uses the police in an attempt to silence such protest. Here is a picture which sums up the sentiment towards Trump here in Scotland. I suspect it is the tip of the iceberg of anti-Trump feeling.

The first video of Earth’s surface lurching sideways in an earthquake offers new insights into this force of nature

During the devastating magnitude 7.7 Myanmar earthquake on March 28 this year, a CCTV camera captured the moment the plate boundary moved, providing the first direct visual evidence of plate tectonics in action.

Tectonic plate boundaries are where chunks of Earth’s crust slide past each other – not smoothly, but in sudden, violent ruptures.

The footage shows Earth’s surface lurching sideways, like a gigantic conveyor belt switched on for just a second, as the fault slips.

What we’re seeing is the propagation of a large earthquake rupture – the primary mechanism that accommodates plate boundary motion at Earth’s surface. These shear fractures travel at several kilometres per second, making them notoriously difficult to observe.

These rare events, separated by centuries, have shaped our planet’s surface over millions of years, creating features such as Aotearoa New Zealand’s Alpine Fault and the Southern Alps.

Until now, seismologists have relied on distant seismic instruments to infer how faults rupture during large earthquakes. This video sheds new light on the process that radiates seismic energy and causes the ground to shake.

@Humpleupagus @pepsi_man — that’s why we’re inclined to call it home education rather than homeschooling. ;) I’ve no desire to turn our learning environment into a replica of government institutions.

Although, we do utilize traditional school-like methods if it suits our needs and gets us where we want to go. For example, Kahn Academy has at times been popular around here, especially when someone is wanting a better understanding of how to use math.

I would strongly suggest organisations disable Microsoft Translator for Edge. It's enabled by default, and allows users to automatically translate webpages (without prompt after first use) to native language by sending the entire page content to MS. This includes intranet sites and SaaS services.

It links to a privacy policy that sounds fluffy and nice and - ya know - it isn't. The Microsoft Translator privacy policy for M365 or Azure doesn't actually apply to it.

This morning every Israeli and Jewish media outlets were reporting on a group of approximately 50 Jewish children and their summer camp director being removed from a Vueling Airlines flight in Valencia, Spain, after reportedly ‘singing Hebrew songs’,
As one may expect this led to immediate accusations of ‘antisemitism’. Israeli officials and Jewish community leaders were quick to condemn the airline and local authorities.
But as hours passed by it has become clear that once again the Jewish group of teenagers grossly misbehaved. Vueling has stated that the removal was due to the group's "disruptive behavior" and to prioritize the safety of other passengers. The airline has denied that the decision was based on the children's religious expression.

La compagnie aérienne dément toute discrimination envers un groupe de jeunes Français de confession juive, débarqués d’un de ses avions mercredi.
"Ces actes comprenaient des tentatives de libérer les gilets de sauvetage,de manipuler les masques à oxygène situés au plafond,ainsi que de libérer une bouteille d'oxygène sous haute pression, présentant potentiellement un danger grave en cabine. Malgré les avertissements, le comportement inapproprié a persisté."
Une cinquantaine d’adolescents français de confession juive qui rentraient de vacances en Espagne ont été brutalement débarqués d’un avion. L’association organisatrice du séjour a annoncé jeudi 24 juillet son intention de déposer une plainte pour « discrimination » contre Vueling.
L’incident s’est produit mercredi après-midi, lorsque ces adolescents, qui se trouvaient en Espagne depuis deux semaines, s’apprêtaient à décoller de l’aéroport de Valence (sud-est) à bord d’un vol de la compagnie Vueling à destination de Paris-Orly.
La compagnie aérienne a imputé cet incident aux adolescents, les accusant d’avoir eu un « comportement inapproprié » et « une attitude fortement conflictuelle, mettant en péril le bon déroulement du vol ».
Selin la compagnie Vueling, les adolescents ont « manipulé de manière inappropriée du matériel de sécurité et interrompu activement la démonstration obligatoire des consignes ».
« Malgré de nombreux avertissements, ce comportement inapproprié a persisté », amenant l’équipage à demander « l’intervention de la garde civile » (équivalent de la gendarmerie), qui a alors « procédé au débarquement du groupe afin de garantir la sécurité du reste des passagers », selon la compagnie.
Vueling assure encore que « le comportement agressif du groupe s’est poursuivi » à la sortie de l’avion et qu’une des adultes encadrant le groupe a été arrêtée.
Une porte-parole de la garde civile a confirmé le récit de Vueling, assurant que les membres du groupe n’avaient pas écouté les consignes répétées de l’équipage.
La monitrice a été interpellée « parce qu’elle refusait de descendre de l’avion et d’obéir aux agents »cette version n’est pas corroborée par l’association Club Kineret, qui parle d’une « scène d’une brutalité rare, injustifiée, et manifestement empreinte de partialité »

Bei der Arbeit höre ich ja morgens immer Deutschlandfunk Nova, Nachmittags und in der Freizeit eher crooner Radio.

Crooner spielt Swing/Jazz Klassiker, Chanson... alles was old school mit style ist. Gut zum Relaxen.

Und da ist mir aufgefallen, dass es bestimmte Stimmen gibt, bei denen ich am Anfang denke "Ach, nett" und nach der ersten Strophe "Boah was für ein nerviges Gejaule".

Und es sind immer dieselben:
Judy Garland, Liza Minelli, Julio Egelsias und manchmal auch die Barbra.

So eine gute Stimme... und dann einfach falsch eingesetzt bis zum Schmerzpunkt. Hektischer, leicht migränischer Griff zum Mute-Button.

Le CEMA qui avait quasiment déclaré la guerre à la #Russie tout seul, en fabriquant une fausse citation de Poutine, lequel aurait fait de la #France son principal ennemi, est démissionné une semaine plus tard. J'ai lu la presse ce matin et pas un journal ne se demande ce qui s'est passé, au plus haut niveau de l'État, pour que #Macron le remplace par un valet encore plus aux ordres. Les journalistes ne font que reprendre les éléments de langage de #Lecornu, qui le remercient pour ses bons et loyaux services, comme lls trouvaient normal que ce CEMA sorti de la 7ème compagnie fasse des déclarations fracassantes d'hostilité contre la Russie sans vérifier ses sources (les fact-checkers avaient piscine cette fois); faisant de facto de la France une cible à abattre, ils trouvent également normal que le même soit démis de son poste juste après. Tout est normal madame la marquise, comme les suicides intempestifs d'opposants. C'est un paradoxe: les médias de grand chemin sont au maximum de leur servilité à l’égard du pouvoir #politique, alors que celui-ci n'a jamais été aussi faible.

Fa uns dies la població grega va impedir que desembarcaren mil "turistes" israelians. Entre els que es trobaven nombrosos soldats vinguts directament del genocidi de Gaza.

És inevitable que gent que ha participat en un genocidi i en dècades d'ocupació colonial no siga extremadament violenta amb els que consideren inferiors: siguen valencians, colombians, catalans, palestins, xinesos, indis, tailandesos o grecs.
