The EU is developing an app for age verification that can be used by many other applications as a legal way of ensuring that a user is at least 18 before accessing some protected content.
The current release provides only basic functionality, with several key features to be introduced in future versions, including:

What does it mean that it relies on the Google Play Integrity API?
Put simply, that:
Any Android device not certified by Google will not be able to run the app. Do you use /e/OS (which is a European fork of Android btw), GrapheneOS, LineageOS or any other open-source fork of Android? Sorry, no age verification for you, which will mean that you’ll probably be locked out of many applications in the future. We often forget it, but, even though developed by Google, the core of Android (AOSP) is open-source and anyone can fork it. Google lately is already trying to attack that core hard enough to turn Android into a fully closed-source operating system exclusively controlled by them. The EU is just doing them a favour apparently.
The Google Play Integrity API relies on keys and certificates exclusively owned by Google. Which means that if you use alternative privacy-aware frameworks to the Google Play Services (like microG) you won’t be able to do age verification. Google is already trying hard to force all vendors that install Android on their devices to get a certification from them only if they also pre-install Google apps and the Google Play Services (see the Android Certified program). The EU in the past opposed such plans because they clearly violate all the possible antitrust rules on the face of the earth. But, by piggybacking on mandatory Google Play Services for age verification, it seems that it’s just doing a U-turn and doing Google another favour.
In other words, EU representatives have (rightfully) talked a lot over the past years about digital sovereignty, technological independence from American tech giants and supporting open-source.
And then, when tasked to build an institutional app for age verification, what do they do?
Well, they entirely delegate the process to an American tech company that they pledged to decouple us from, and they play in their interests by putting another nail in the AOSP’s coffin.
Luckily the age verification app is still in alpha state and it’ll still take time to be deployed, and it’s also open-source.
So please, if you have a Github account, add a reaction or a comment to the issue opened by @SylvieLorxu on the project of the app to boost its visibility.

El aumento de búsquedas caninas se ha traducido en adopciones concretas
La presencia de Krypto no se ha quedado solo en la pantalla. La película, que llegó a los cines el 11 de julio con David Corenswet como nuevo Superman, ha coincidido con un aumento repentino en las búsquedas relacionadas con adopciones caninas, especialmente de razas similares al perro del filme.
Según datos analizados por la aplicación de adiestramiento Woofz, la expresión “adoptar un perro cerca de mí” multiplicó por cinco su volumen en Google durante el primer fin de semana del estreno. Más concretamente, los términos “adoptar un cachorro” y “adoptar un schnauzer” también crecieron de forma destacada.
Krypto ha sido un reclamo para fomentar las adopciones
El interés ha tenido un efecto medible en la vida real. Entre el 1 y el 10 de julio, Warner Bros. impulsó una colaboración con la organización Best Friends Animal Society para cubrir los costes de adopción de mascotas en todo el país. En ese periodo, un total de 454 animales encontraron un nuevo hogar.
Según los datos compartidos por la entidad sobre 2024, más de 4,8 millones de perros y gatos han ingresado en refugios estadounidenses. Las campañas asociadas a películas como esta han servido para aliviar en parte esa carga.
El director encontró inspiración en la experiencia personal con su propio perro adoptado
James Gunn, director de la cinta, explicó en una publicación en redes sociales que el diseño de Krypto se inspiró directamente en su perro Ozu, adoptado poco después de comenzar a escribir el guion. El cineasta relató que el animal procedía de un entorno de hacinamiento con más de 60 perros y que, al llegar a casa, provocó destrozos en muebles, zapatos e incluso en su propio ordenador portátil. En sus palabras, “tardó mucho en dejarse tocar”.
Ese proceso de adaptación influyó directamente en la construcción del personaje de Krypto, que en la película deja claro que es de armas tomar. Gunn comentó que se preguntó cómo sería convivir con un perro así si además tuviera superpoderes, y esa idea fue la que lo llevó a integrar al can en el desarrollo del argumento.
Así lo expresó en una entrevista con The New York Times, donde también afirmó que, pese a tratarse de un modelo generado por ordenador, los rasgos de Krypto en la película responden en buena parte a los gestos y proporciones físicas de Ozu.
Adoptar a un animal requiere constancia y compromiso
Es evidente que esta versión ficcionada de Krypto ha encandilado a parte del público. Sin embargo, tanto la empresa tecnológica como las organizaciones animalistas han coincidido en lanzar un mensaje de cautela. La directora ejecutiva de Woofz, Natalia Shahmetova, advirtió en declaraciones recogidas por The Wrap que “la adopción es un compromiso real”. En la misma línea, remarcó que “el entusiasmo inicial puede desvanecerse, pero el perro sigue ahí, y necesita tiempo, cuidado y formación”.
Aunque Krypto haya volado por la pantalla como compañero de uno de los superhéroes más conocidos del mundo, fuera de ella no lleva capa ni tiene habilidades especiales. Y es ahí donde empieza la parte complicada, pero también la más satisfactoria, del compromiso con un perro.

Y luego vino la peli "Max" y de nuevo la moda de los MALINOIS; perros de trabajo, cien por cien energia y nada fáciles de tener en casa. Y de nuevo protes con Malis a decenas. Is there any way to set up my timeline so it only shows posts and boosts from people I follow? Right now my timeline is becoming rather unmanageable as its also showing everything they like or comment on.
Under "Settings" / "Social Networks" / "General Social Media Settings" / "Followed Content Scope", there are several options. But it seems "only conversations my follows started" excludes both boost and comments. There doesn't seem to be an option to include boosts but exclude comments.

The first drop down, Followed content scope, set that to 'only conversations my follows started', that seems to give you only original posts and boosts
@Friendica Support I used to set up different friend circles, and I think Friendica has a setting to have a default circles to add new people. That way you can select that circle in the list of options on the top left of the Network tab. Nice thing is that these circles and groups can be filtered on apps as well.
I believe you can set friends to be in different circles in the Contacts tab, but might be quite a one-time endeavor if you have a lot of contacts.

1. Collective les dijo a los procesadores de pago sobre demandar borrar específicamente el contenido de violaciones e incesto en Steam e Itch.
2. Visa y MasterCard vienen y demandan a Steam e Itch que borren todo el contenido que consideran "problematico".
3. Steam e Itch borran u ocultan todo el contenido NSFW, sea sexual o no.
Todas las partes lo hicieron mal y la cagaron en grande.
Resultado: todos aborrecen a Collective Shout, todos odian a Visa y MasterCard, todos dejaron de confiar en Steam e Itch (y esta última puede que haya terminado suicidándose a ojos de los Indie Devs).
