Στέκεσαι είτε απέναντι στο κακό, είτε δίπλα του. Δεν υπάρχουν ενδιάμεσες τοποθετήσεις όταν τα παιδιά της Γάζας πεθαίνουν από την πείνα, όταν νοσοκομεία γκρεμίζονται πέτρα την πέτρα, όταν ο λιμός χρησιμοποιείται ως πολεμικό όπλο.
Το ερώτημα λοιπόν δεν είναι αν “ο τρόπος που αντιδρούν κάποιοι είναι σωστός”. Δεν είναι το ζητούμενο αν οι διαδηλώσεις σου χαλάνε την καθημερινότητα, αν τα συνθήματα είναι οργισμένα, αν οι λέξεις ξεπερνούν τις νόρμες ευγενικής διαμαρτυρίας. Το ερώτημα είναι: εσύ, που δηλώνεις “αντίθετος στη γενοκτονία”, τι έκανες σήμερα για να τη σταματήσεις;
Αν η απάντηση είναι “τίποτα”, ή ακόμη χειρότερα, “καταδίκασα αυτούς που φώναζαν πολύ”, τότε είσαι μέρος του προβλήματος. Και η Ιστορία δεν θα σε κρίνει με επιείκεια. Γιατί η Ιστορία δεν γράφεται από όσους έμειναν σιωπηλοί, ούτε από εκείνους που ένιωσαν “αισθητική ενόχληση” από τις διαμαρτυρίες. Γράφεται από τους λίγους που είδαν το τέρας και δεν γύρισαν το βλέμμα.
