The above were all settled in the recent case of Leighton v Bristow [2023] J90SA002 in the High Court of Justice Kings Bench Division by His Honour Judge Harrison where at paragraph 45 the claimant was awarded damages of £4000.00 and in this case if you fail to cease and desist you will have met the criteria for Harassment which may result in up to the same amount again and aggravated damages may also apply. In addition costs of 50% were also awarded to Leighton.

Clarification: please note that apart from bailiffs, the council have other remedies to enforce council tax such as attachment of earnings orders, property charges and potentially prison, however a recent House of Commons committee has resolved to look at these issues to ensure that councils are enforcing matters in a more compassionate and evenhanded way and changes are planned for 2024…

At the time of this amendment which is Christmas Day 2023 a video explaining this has reached 100,000 views in one day! and therefore this demonstrates that this subject is regarded by the public in the same way that the discredited poll tax was. A video discussing it by a DIY lawyer trying to distract from the core issue by dealing with strawman arguments has half as many views and the majority of the comments express sympathy with the defendants and frustration with the injustice perpetrated on normal people. It would seem obvious that the people demand a more equitable system from their public servants and that this corruption has gone on for too long.

The thing that led to the pax being withdrawn was that many people simply stopped paying it and it became unenforceable. There are now thousands of people pushing back against councils and it will not be long before the same tipping point is reached.

And, newsflash, in case you missed it (and they do desperately want you to miss it),

council tax is now unenforceable.

It's not just the dutifully scrutinous who've sussed it's illegal.
(and whom, in being "ahead of their time" so, thus suffer being dismissed, even smeared with adhominem slurs like "conspiracy theorist" (... which never makes sense).)

This awareness is reaching both the wider public, and (as depicted in that article) the various levels of public servants too.

No time for resting on high hopes hopium, nor succumbing to placatium or copium. These are more disempowering than enabling to carry on with. Get the good feels of seeking the wins for the good, your own, or others. There's a healthier hope out there that does not disable you, but enables you. Get that right dose of real hope, to move you. No time for resting on the dis-empowering tragic hope of inaction.

Nows when to keep standing your ground, and heck, even do whatever healthy good you can to help topple the corruption safely, for the benefit of each and all. 😀

Ask the council, is "Council Tax"
1. payment for services/products/goods/property...
* * and therefor, what goods? _____________
2. punishment for convicted crime
* * and therefor, what crime? _____________
3. extortion.

If they are not satisfactorily forthcoming, their presumed claim of your "obligation" (~if you can even ever find them overtly make such a claim, rather than just con you into giving the money of your own (conned) volition~), on even shakier grounds.

If they are observably, historically, evidently in breach of their Duty of Care [Law], (to whichever level (incompetence [probably lose their job (or at very least, retrained or demoted)]; neglegence [can be criminal]; intent [always criminal]), then this too points to, you absolutely should not be paying them. ... Seems to pay, is to put yourself in complicity with their crimes... you were paying them to commit those crimes, in a sense. Certainly, once you know they're misusing, or extorting, you're either/both complicit and/or a victim of extortion (and more... )

as mentioned in irc earlier:

loadsa peeps are striving to point out its ilegality by other case law and legislation... i think it's simpler than that. it is blatant hostile terrorising extortion, in the very words and methods they use. it's fraud, harrasment, breach of duty of care, and treason. it is criminal through and through and through.

And we do not need to keep doing it.

We got rid of the injust Poll Tax. We can get rid of the injust Council Tax. We are getting rid of the Coundil Tax. You can help. Easiest way, do nothing. ;) So much of your life back in your hands once you do that. Your money, your confidence, your empowerment, your levity of mood...
