so, today i finally got the wireguard mesh going with 3 remote endpoints and my pc as a 4th node in the graph, making a 6 path complete graph.
turns out to be more difficult to figure out how to actually use the mesh to hide my IP than to make the mesh. the wireguard install script i have been using doesn't account for mesh setups. the tricky part has to do with routing, since with multiple exits, which do you pick? so by default it picks your lan's default gateway, ie, no proxying. but all the links to the remotes is redundant, if any one of them fails or gets disconnected, the others remain available.
so what i'm doing is setting them all up with, to start with, developing this idea of a reliable inbound route, installing the reverse proxy i have on the first one, onto the other two, and then i need to figure out how to set up the DNS so it directs to any of the three endpoints, so they all will then serve as redundant reverse proxies, all of them pointing back to my test relay, specifically. as part of the process of developing this idea for a reliable relay routing service to allow people to set up a link to the three nodes in the remote mesh with the reverse proxy, so that any one of them can forward a connection back to their relay. so, port 3334 since that seems to be the default.
so, automating this configuration, it has to make two changes, one, to add a new pubkey and new ip address for the new client, and also add an entry in the reverse proxy with a new subdomain that points to that new ip address.
probably the simplest way to do this is to create, to start with, a REST API endpoint in the reverse proxy, that allows reconfiguration. it will use nip-98 auth, and a simple administrator address list in the environment variables, and there will be get and set configuration methods. i already have an adequate tool to work with this, it can do simple upload/download operations (already is used for import/export).
the difference would be you would just set your valid nsec in your environment, call the reverse proxy API get endpoint, and write that to your config cache. then, you can edit it, and then with the same tool upload the new version, et voila
then, the process of adding/removing wireguard peer entries... probably should roll it into one, so you update the config, and it rewrites the proxy mapping and adds/removes entries from the wireguard configuration, and then triggers them to reload. since i have to make the wireguard service restart anyway, and it's barely any downtime, might as well just do the both this way, so i just need to figure out how to control the permissions to allow this...

@deadheat @romin baking soda and vinegar won't do much if anything. you can use lye (NaOH) crystals and drop a few scoops in standing water which will settle into the drain, or a bottle of drano or whatever product you have available there. that stuff dissolves hair and other organic material. this is the easiest first thing to try before going for a snake. just wear gloves and eye protection
@deadheat @romin if you're not comfortable with this is can understand just calling a plumber but yea it's really not complicated as long as you follow the directions on the label. and as long as you don't mix a bunch of chemicals in the drain gas shouldn't be a problem. baking soda and vinegar neutralize each other. plumbers are used to dealing with this.
@meowski @deadheat @romin Plumbers hate it though because if your drain is fully stopped, as in no water is moving, it rarely works and it won't go away and the result is that the plumber you call as last resort now has a shitter job plunging and snaking with a highly caustic solution splashing around. It works great to clear a slow (but not stopped) drain though.
@deadheat @guizzy @romin the only time your drains won't be unclogged with drain opening chemical is if it's packed with rust or metal or other stuff that won't dissolve. i've dealt with both drain opening chemical and totally rusted drains that even a plumber couldn't unclog with their snake- i had to cut out and replace a bunch of ancient cast iron pipes from my mom's walls that were full of rust.
even if fully clogged, scoop out all the water, and add the lye directly into the drain. it'll settle down the drain. only gotcha is some of the acid products can damage chrome so just read the label or ask someone at the hardware store
if your plumber bitches about drain opener find a new plumber. just tell them in advance so they know what they're dealing with.

I think they perpetuate the first one mostly because people care more about not damaging their house than damaging the plumber.
@guizzy @deadheat @romin all you have to do is read the label. it helps if you know what kind of pipes you have, most products say right there "won't damage pipes" only exception being is if you have ancient cast iron pipes that are extremely rusted and ready to break through, acid might dissolve the last bit of rust that's hanging on and make it leak. otherwise it's not going to harm modern pipes.

En plein été, François Bayrou a décidé d’annoncer ses pistes pour le budget 2026. En ligne de mire : réduire le déficit à 3% d’ici 2029. Et les français vont payer. C’est le fameux “nous dépensons trop par rapport à nos recettes”. Mais on ne change pas une équipe qui gagne, donc le gouvernement décide de n’aller chercher qu’au niveau des dépenses. Le Premier Ministre annonce que l’année 2026 sera une “année blanche” : tout est gelé, les budgets, le barème de l'impôt, pas de prestations revalorisées, les salaires non plus… Mais ce n’est pas tout ! Le gouvernement annonce aussi : suppression de 2 jours feriés, durcissement (encore) de l’assurance chômage, on se questionne sur la fin des 35h et de la 5e semaine de congés payés contre rémunération. Au total, c’est plus de 40 milliards d’économies. Pour 2026, Bayrou annonce 20 milliards d’économies sur la dépense publique : 10 milliards sur l’Etat et ses opérateurs, avec des “réorganisations, fusions”, et la suppression de 3000 emplois ; 5,3 milliards sur les collectivités locales (vos mairies, bus scolaires, crèches, entretiens de la voirie… c’est ça) ; 5,5 milliards sur les dépenses sociales… Services publics, classes moyennes, précaires, chômeurs, malades… ça ne sera pas votre année. Et la santé n’est pas épargnée… Pour faire des économies, François Bayrou a affirmé vouloir “responsabiliser les patients”. Ça passe par, l’augmentation des plafonds annuels des franchises et participations forfaitaires et des montants payés sur les médicaments et actes médicaux ; le durcissement de l’ALD et les remboursements ; s’attaquer aux arrêts maladie. Au total : un “effort de 5 milliards”.
Mais ne vous inquiétez pas ! François Bayrou a dit que “l’effort est juste et partagé”. À force d’analyser les budgets, un après un, austérité après austérité, ces “besoins d’économies” servent finalement à appliquer une idéologie politique précise, analysent Lisa Lap et Thomas Porcher. L’économiste rappelle qu’il n’y a pas une absolue nécessité de réduire le déficit ou la dette et que surtout ; ce n’est pas l’austérité qui règle les problèmes de croissance. Thomas Porcher met en garde : les prévisions de croissance du gouvernement ne seront pas bonnes.
