I think the war in Ukraine, having driven the cost of producing drones way down, has shown that we can create fleets of drones to water whatever we decide needs watering.
We could create a plant watering drone fleet. For a fee, drones show up and soak an area.
Single drone = cheap, one-time use
Drone array = modest cost, one-time use
Drone drencher = drone array that cycles back to get more water for a specified time period
Add a desalinator and you have a system to drop sea water onto land.
