"For over a year now, the trial in the Tyumen case has been moving through the Central District Military Court in Yekaterinburg. The defendants—anarchists and anti-fascists—were detained in 2022 and subjected to brutal torture. Since then, there have been 30 court hearings. People continue to focus on tariffs.
The media continues to allude to a 25% tariff will result in prices increasing 25%.
How sutpid are you?
From day one the Administration has stated the only tool in their arsenal is a tariff and they are trying to get other countries to open their markets to US goods and services.
ISO9000 is an example of European countries using a useless system to block American products with higher standards.
There are other parts to this than tariffs.
i heard "Trump is just trying to implement reaganomics" last night. And then tried to give me schooling on economics. that the central bank policies won't really be felt for 20 years, so i said "oh so the inflation is Bush's fault?" and "no it's clinton's fault", i was like dude that was 32 years ago bro; "well, it takes a long time"
i said so when the economy is better in 5 years or whatever, it's going to be because of the democrats?
I'm on a bit of a kick of watching large corporate films and teasing out where the talent of the people they hire show through, and seeing how the corporate bullshit has taken over more and more.
I liked Maleficent a lot when it came out, and honestly...it holds up, probably better than it did before, in the context of all the "live action remake" bullshit today. In particular, I remember my main criticism of Maleficent at the time was how bloomy it was, how everything looked so bright and saturated. Well, now, it seems like every movie that comes out is even more so, to the extent that this film looks tastefully reasonable in comparison.
Unfortunately, its messaging around feminine power and the emphasis on (found) familial love over romantic love has been so oversaturated by #Disney in particular since then that it feels less impactful in a modern context, although I'd say it's a lot more genuine in Maleficent than the strictly corporate attempts made today. I don't think Disney would ever have another clear rape metaphor in a film, and I don't think anyone but Angelina Jolie could have carried the whole narrative as convincingly.
Also, the original Sleeping Beauty was 100% corporate trash even back in 1950-whatever. The creativity and theme reclamation of Maleficent is a proper rehabilitation of it, probably the only one that any of these corps have managed to achieve in all these horrendous attempts.
It's a shame that the film only received middling reception when it came out. I think if critics could see the state of things today, they might have chosen to emphasize these aspects. Or on the other hand, they might have panned it even more as a warning against Disney and other corporations taking it as a template for their own bastardization.
Because modern audiences simply can't make that distinction: If you give them a movie, they can't sit down and say, "Here, the writers and actors, artists and set designers were allowed to create a piece of an amazing movie; and here's where the corporation stuffed its fingers right in there and ruined it." There's actually a lot to be enjoyed in these movies — and really, most corporate shit — if you are able to make that separation; and you can also gain insight into why there's been barely a single good movie released anywhere in the west in half a decade.

Today in Labor History August 1, 1917: IWW organizer Frank Little was lynched in Butte, Montana. Little was a Cherokee miner and member of the IWW. He went to Butte during the Speculator Mine strike to help organize the miners. Little had previously helped organize oil workers, timber workers and migrant farm workers in California. He had participated in free speech fights in Missoula, Spokane and Fresno, and helped pioneer many of the passive resistance techniques later used by the Civil Rights movement. He was also an anti-war activist, calling U.S. soldiers “Uncle Sam’s scabs in uniforms.” On August 1, 1917, vigilantes broke into the boarding house where he was staying. They dragged him through the streets while tied to the back of a car and then hanged him from a railroad trestle.
Author Dashiell Hammett had been working in Butte at the time as a strike breaker for the Pinkerton Detective Agency. They had tried to get him to murder Little, offering him $5,000, but he refused. He later wrote about the experience in his novel, “Red Harvest.” It supposedly haunted him throughout his life that anyone would think he would do such a thing. He was also investigated by the House Unamerican Activities Committee (HUAC) because of his ties to socialism.

Of the three platforms—Ghost, Medium, and Substack—Ghost stands out as the most explicit in not supporting pro-Nazi content. The CEO of Ghost has publicly committed that Ghost’s hosted service “will remove pro-Nazi content, full stop.” This commitment means that any site found publishing Nazi or neo-Nazi material on Ghost(Pro) will be taken down[1][2][3].
Medium has broad content guidelines against hateful or harmful activity; however, there is no high-profile reporting suggesting a major issue with Nazi content or ambiguities about removing such content. Medium’s policy focuses on human storytelling and restricts hate speech, but public focus about moderation has centered more on AI content than hate groups recently[4][5][6].
Substack has faced substantial controversy for allowing Nazi and white supremacist newsletters to remain on its platform. Investigations and reporting in 2024 and 2025 have shown that newsletters espousing Nazi ideology—sometimes with explicit Nazi imagery—have been present and even promoted by Substack’s algorithms. Substack’s founders have stated a “hands-off” approach and have refused to publicly commit to proactively removing Nazi content, even defending their “commercial relationships” with such publishers. While Substack’s official guidelines prohibit hate and violence, enforcement appears inconsistent, and multiple tech media outlets have documented Substack’s ongoing “Nazi problem”[7][3][8][9][1][10][11][12].
### Summary Table
| Platform | Nazi Content Policy | Enforcement (recent evidence) | Explicit Public Stance |
|------------|------------------------------|-------------------------------------------------------------|-----------------------------|
| Ghost | Removes pro-Nazi content | CEO pledged to remove all pro-Nazi content from hosted sites| Yes—committed “full stop”[1][2][3] |
| Medium | Bans hate speech broadly | No major reporting of persistent Nazi content, but less vocal | No major issues reported |
| Substack | Officially bans hate, but takes hands-off approach | Multiple incidents of active Nazi/white supremacist newsletters, some promoted by platform| No—platform has refused to make explicit commitment, has been criticized for it[3][8][9][11] |
Bottom line:
- Ghost is the platform that has most clearly and publicly pledged to not allow Nazi content and acts to enforce that policy.
- Medium prohibits hate broadly but is less publicly vocal about this specific issue.
- Substack is repeatedly criticized for not taking action against Nazi content and has, in several cases, allowed this material to remain until publicly pressured.
