I'm currently writing from an i7-7500U. It's good as long as you don't have computational task or games which require a GPU.

I refurbish and sell computers, specializing in ThinkPad laptops. Some of my customers want Windows, so I offer both that and Linux as Operating System options.
My every day carry laptop has Linux (Devuan) with an Intel seventh gen processor in a ThinkPad X270 laptop. Good series!
