They were brought in for questioning and about 2h later they were let go.

Researchers at Harvard Business School and University of Toronto used unique data to quantify the value of open source.

Takeways:

* Supply-side (cost to recreate) is ~$4.15B, but demand-side (value to firms) is $8.8T. Shows massive cost savings & productivity boost from OSS.

* If OSS didn't exist, firms would need to spend an estimated 3.5 times more on software than they currently do. OSS provides a massive, often invisible, productivity boost.

* A tiny fraction of OSS developers create the vast majority of value. Only 5% of developers are responsible for over 96% of the demand-side value

* Firms should not just "free ride" on OSS but actively contribute to the ecosystem, as this is far cheaper than recreating the software themselves.

Every time I see a post from an account I don't follow on the "default" Facebook timeline with an obviously A.I. generated poster for fake movies coming up, or any post with a photo of a celebrity in an obviously faked photo, I block that profile. It's amazing how many people comment thinking the post is real. Fake news is part of the reason we are in the mess we're in today. Lots of folks can't logically think for themselves anymore, they believe ANYTHING put in front of them automatically. A.I. still has a slightly "plastic" look with images. If you look close enough, you can see it. Then again, most people are looking on their tiny phone screens. Most of my viewing is on a 27" desktop monitor.

Not to draw away attention from the Sudan genocide amidst a brutal civil war, I just think it's adequate to point out how easy it is to name the perpetrator, victim, and the action of genocide by its name when Israel isn't involved.

These Jupiter guys are great at making Picross/pixel puzzle games and it shows. They automatically crossed off the middle "1" of the 1-1-3 row because I could know, with this arrangement of Xs, that had to be the middle 1 because the chunk of blocks to the right of it HAD to be part of the 3 and ther was no room for this block to be anything but the middle 1 and not the first 1.

My point is that your strategy wouldn't work to relieve the tension. The alt right influencers and propagandists are manufacturing outrage. The feeling of being targeted is made up. It doesn't matter if anybody plays into it. Insecure young men feel that way regardless of what anybody on the left will say. It's a natural consequence of a patriarchal, atomized society where everyone is told that they're supposed to conform to gender ideals while being socially isolated.
