Throughout my life, I've become obsessed with different things, until I inevitably become (or at least feel that I've become) a resource rather than a student of these things. It's never actually a nice thing to be, and just leads to frustration.
I think tech won't ever be like that, though. If anything, the other way around: I've spent years learning everything I can about Linux and networking, and I still feel like an idiot compared to so many people that I just casually meet here. It's nice.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports that Israeli parliamentarian Ofer Cassif, from the left-wing Hadash-Taโal party, was forcibly removed from the Knesset podium on Monday night during a plenary session after quoting renowned Israeli writer and novelist David Grossman, who acknowledged in an interview with the Italian daily La Repubblica last week that, with โimmense pain and a broken heartโ, Israel is currently committing โ#genocideโ in #Gaza. โโFor years I refused to use the term genocide, but now, after the images Iโve seen and after speaking to people who were there, I can no longer avoid it,'โ Cassif said in his speech. Haaretz said the session was chaired by deputy Knesset Speaker Nissim Vaturi, who interrupted Cassif, saying โThatโs not a quote โ thatโs made up,โ and demanded Cassif be removed from the podium, followed by Likud member Tali Gottlieb who shouted: โHe will not say โgenocideโ in here!โ before Knesset ushers physically removed Cassif from the podium.

@paulschoe I was in favour of being extra careful when using the word "genocide", as it has a rather strict sense of "deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, political, or cultural group". I must admit I was not completely sure. But I am getting closer and closer to using it; since 1948, Israel has based its existence in expelling and killing the Palestinian population to grow in their "promised land". I will take sides: Zionism brought nakba, apartheid and, now, genocide.

It's a little unintuitive how you do this: Go to your channel settings, and in the "do not import posts with this text" bit, enter in the string you want to block, one per line. I find using regex usually works better, especially with hashtags or strings with spaces, ie:

What's funny about the Gudas getting "kidnapped" is that he/she willingly signed up for it and agreed to be drugged.
