Today in Labor History August 7, 1971: Jonathan Jackson, aged 17, brother of imprisoned Black Panther George Jackson, raided a Marin County, CA courtroom with an automatic weapon, and freed prisoners James McClain, William A. Christmas and Ruchell Magee. He took a judge, Deputy DA, and three jurors hostage. He demanded the release of the "Soledad Brothers," including his brother. Police killed 3 of the hostages as they attempted to drive away from the courthouse, as well as Jonathan Jackson and the freed inmates. Angela Davis, who owned the weapons used by Jackson, was jailed for 2 years, but was later acquitted of conspiracy, kidnapping, and murder. Prior to the escape attempt, Davis had organized a defense committee for the Soledad Brothers which included Noam Chomsky, Pete Seeger, Marlon Brando, Jame Fonda, the scientist Linus Pauling, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Allen Ginsberg.
In 1970, George Jackson had published his book, “Soledad Brother,” a collection of his prison writings from the 1960s, including numerous letters he had written to his then kid brother Jonathan. He also wrote critically about racism and white supremacy, class, and the brutality of the prison system. The Soledad brothers were George Jackson, Fleeta Drumgo and John Clutchette, accused of murdering a prison guard at Soledad Prison, in California, in retaliation for the murder of three black inmates by prison guards three days prior. Clutchette and Drumgo were later acquitted. Jackson never got his day in court. He was murdered by prison guards, at San Quinten Prison, California, before his trial, exactly two weeks after his brother’s murder in the botched escape attempt. George Jackson had originally been imprisoned for the crime of stealing $70 from a gas station in 1961.

responding to Ian Dunt, I have a long post arguing that there is no magic formula for men (or anyone) to "get laid"; trying to out self-help the right is anti progressive and leads nowhere good. www.everythingishorrible.net/p/meritocrac...

Pretending the left can get young men laid just exacerbates patriarchy.Noah Berlatsky (Everything Is Horrible)
I think a big problem is there are a lot of people who have no concept of what it means to love some one, or to be loved unconditionally.
Of course sex "getting laid" can be a separate issue from this to some degree. But, I think it's always linked and some people allow their "lack of success" in what they see as a video game of "getting laid" to drain their sense of self worth.
Abuse culture conflates love with fear.
Lonely insecure people get taught they'll feel loved when they are treated as important. But even if they manage to get a whole harem waiting on them hand and foot, something is missing and the feeling of insecurity never goes away.
It's tough to have healthy relationships when one has been taught that anyone who acts at all like they care about you is lowering and weakening themselves-- simping-- and thus to be looked down upon.

I'm an Asian descent, and I absolutely approve the use of this term.
Also, as an Asian descent, I must say: you don't represent us, so stop getting offended on other people's behalf.
Hey, you know you don't represent every single person, right?

This is what I'm talking about. You think you're entitled to do what you want as long as you feel righteous about it.
I don't represent every single Asian descent, but at least I represent one, which is myself. Who do you represent, again?
This would be like coming in here, as an african-american and saying that everyone can use the n-word. I don't have to listen to something that patently goes against the prevailing opinion of most african-americans. And I would be remiss not to point out to someone who isn't black that you shouldn't do that. That discourse has been done to death that white people need to call out racism. Just like men need to call out sexism. That's not entitled, that's just trying to live in a world free from prejudice.
But anyway, bye 👋
Thank you!
God, I am just so sick of people being high and mighty by being pissed at some shit they know nothing of from their ivory tower while the people they're "trying to help" don't even see it as an issue.
I might have to take a look at maybe seeing if I could find an i3 version of this. That would be pretty cool, personally speaking.
Taking a look at the script, though, it might not be too bad if I find a way to do it with i3 or Hypr. I might need to get my producer, Neigsendoig, looking into that.

You can export Notesnook notes in a markdown format if you want to take them with you. It's hard to beat their encryption and privacy setup.
Heptabase is not opensource. You can try the app for 1 week for free. I have been following HB since it's alpha development approx 3.5 years ago (and moderate their Discord channel as well). They have a small dev team that are very open and accessible. They have been able to self-sustain via their subscription model from very early on, even though there were early 'seed' and Angel stage investors (who I am told by the founder are very hands-off)
Not sure if you are on Discord, but I can share NN and HB invites so you can poke around, ask questions, and read up on development if you like:

@Nead The ability to export notes isn't enough, unfortunately. I want to be able to access note files directly, and manipulate them freely using other applications. That's what I mean by "using an open format".
Heptabase seems to focus on visuals. My use case is very simple though: plain text notes, with occasional embedded images. HB is neither free nor open source. I'm afraid it's not for me.
And I'm not on Discord.
Thanks for the suggestions though. I appreciate it 😀

Endless Alice added Lea swimsuit. Very nice. It's not too bad for having to deal with steam.
Meanwhile I'm reminded of how weak Lea is in the game. Tried the new highest difficulty, she gets utterly destroyed. For other characters, difficulty scales faster because they spend more time getting levels and items. Lea's difficulty scales slower in general since she's just weaker, incentivizing moving fast. Problem is bosses still do good damage. She's the kind of character that needs an ideal build quick if she's to make it far. I wasn't thinking about that and ended up with a mess of a build where she wasn't doing anywhere near enough damage to clear fields of enemies.
