Hell, we have advertised products as non GMO for decades as a reason to buy and then we expect them to accept reassurances from people essentially using a foreign language. Compare this to the language of those fomenting fear and anger. Their messages are short and catchy. They are crafted for their emotional content not for understanding. And it's working especially in the present US administration that operates on fear and greed. Perhaps we need to focus messaging on benefits of these vaccines without trying to explain them.

When my first rent rise was forced on me (two or three years in, to be fair) the letter telling me the rent on my new contract was basically "we've looked at market rents and think we can charge X but have suggested only charging Y" (how nice)
Note how this wasn't Landlord's mortgage/insurance/maintenance buffer zone/whatever has increased - straightforward chasing the market rent (this pushing it ever upwards) and the Landlord agreeing.

Just did some upgrades, service and thermal cleaning on a ThinkPad T470s laptop.
This laptop has two internal batteries. The back one was a bit puffy "spicy pillow". I had another used battery on hand that wasn't puffy, so replace it.
Replaced the thermal paste on the CPU.
Upgraded from 8GB to 12GB (one memory slot, 4GB on the motherboard, so took out a 4GB module and replaced with 8GB module).
Upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 with an installer made by Rufus, which bypasses the hardware requirements check.
Scanned for malware with Malwarebytes. It found a bunch of "mindspark" junk references and removed them.

Today in Labor History August 7, 1971: Jonathan Jackson, aged 17, brother of imprisoned Black Panther George Jackson, raided a Marin County, CA courtroom with an automatic weapon, and freed prisoners James McClain, William A. Christmas and Ruchell Magee. He took a judge, Deputy DA, and three jurors hostage. He demanded the release of the "Soledad Brothers," including his brother. Police killed 3 of the hostages as they attempted to drive away from the courthouse, as well as Jonathan Jackson and the freed inmates. Angela Davis, who owned the weapons used by Jackson, was jailed for 2 years, but was later acquitted of conspiracy, kidnapping, and murder. Prior to the escape attempt, Davis had organized a defense committee for the Soledad Brothers which included Noam Chomsky, Pete Seeger, Marlon Brando, Jame Fonda, the scientist Linus Pauling, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Allen Ginsberg.
In 1970, George Jackson had published his book, โSoledad Brother,โ a collection of his prison writings from the 1960s, including numerous letters he had written to his then kid brother Jonathan. He also wrote critically about racism and white supremacy, class, and the brutality of the prison system. Lโune dโelles, chargรฉe dโhistoire, du genre sables mouvants politiques qui avalent les hommes plus vite que les balles, est la suivante : Oรน se place la Russie?
Dans un atlas la rรฉponse est รฉvidente. La Russie est exactement lร oรน elle a toujours รฉtรฉ, drapรฉe ร travers les continents comme une grande vieille bรชte, la colonne vertรฉbrale au fond de la Sibรฉrie, le visage toujours tournรฉ โ avec un air de dรฉfi โ vers lโEurope. Mais si vous regardez au-delร des frontiรจres et en profondeur, la question revient : quโest-elle maintenant ?
Est-elle toujours le vilain petit canard de la famille europรฉenne โ blessรฉe, sรฉparรฉe, mais reconnaissable comme parente ? Ou a-t-elle liรฉ son destin aux pays du Sud, main dans la main avec le Brรฉsil et lโAfrique du Sud dans cet alphabet relรขchรฉ que nous nommons BRICS?

Et la direction du trajet est importante : les revenus en roubles ont augmentรฉ de 16% dโune annรฉe sur lโautre, selon Rosstat. Les chiffres ne sont pas seulement importants, ils deviennent de plus en plus importants.
Ensuite, regardons les BRICS. La Chine se situe autour de 2 000 dollars, un niveau supรฉrieur au Brรฉsil (1 210 dollars), ร lโInde (900 dollars) ou ร lโAfrique du Sud (965 dollars). Malgrรฉ toute la montรฉe en puissance de la Chine โ ses trains ร grande vitesse, ses gratte-ciels et ses mรฉgapoles tentaculaires โ le niveau de vie russe reste, en moyenne, nettement plus รฉlevรฉ. Il ne nage pas vraiment dans les mรชmes eaux que ses partenaires des BRICS. Les รฉtagรจres sont plus pleines, les appartements plus chauds et mieux climatisรฉs, la classe moyenne โ mรชme meurtrie โ plus solidement ancrรฉe. Ce nโest pas le paysage dโune rรฉvolution industrielle inachevรฉe ou dโune pauvretรฉ tentaculaire. Et pourtant, les BRICS nโont jamais vraiment รฉtรฉ une question de revenus. Cโest une question dโeffet de levier. Un contrepoids. Un refus dโaccepter un monde arrangรฉ par Bruxelles ou par Washington. Et ici, la Russie sโadapte comme un poing serrรฉ : sanctionnรฉe, encerclรฉe par ses rivaux, mais impossible ร ignorer. Un poids lourd marquรฉ par la bataille, en plein essor parmi ses concurrents.
Mais les moyennes valent pour les รฉconomistes et les menteurs. La Russie reste un pays de rรฉgions, pas de gradients. Lโรฉcart entre les rรฉgions les plus riches et les plus pauvres a maintenant atteint un record de 182 000 โฝ par mois, soit une diffรฉrence de 2 330 dollars. En Tchoukotka, le salaire moyen est de 2 855$. En Ingouchie, il est 525$. ร Moscou, Yamalo-Nenets, Magadan โ vous pouvez atteindre 1 850$. En Tchรฉtchรฉnie, au Daghestan, en Ossรฉtie, vous aurez la chance de dรฉpasser les 600 dollars.
Et ce ne sont que les chiffres visibles. Lโรฉconomie informelle est vaste, reprรฉsentant de 30 ร 50% du PIB selon certaines estimations. Les salaires sont payรฉs en espรจces, en faveurs ou en silence. Lโรฉconomie rรฉelle โ celle dans laquelle les gens vivent rรฉellement โ รฉvolue dโune maniรจre quโaucune feuille de calcul ne peut รฉvaluer.
Mais mรชme ร travers cette distorsion, une image รฉmerge. Ce nโest pas lโInde ou le Brรฉsil. Ce nโest pas lโAfrique du Sud. Ni en revenus, ni en infrastructures, ni en capital humain. La Russie est autre chose ; plus riche quโelle ne le laisse entendre, plus dรฉveloppรฉe que beaucoup ne voudraient lโadmettre, et si difficile ร catรฉgoriser quโaucun acronyme ne le permet.
Pourtant, le Kremlin a fait son choix. Pas seulement dans le commerce, mais dans le ton.

Lโancien modรจle oligarchique est mis de cรดtรฉ. ร sa place : des gรฉants corporatifs comme Severstal, Norilsk Nickel, Rosatom, tentaculaires, verticalement intรฉgrรฉs, politiquement alignรฉs.

You can export Notesnook notes in a markdown format if you want to take them with you. It's hard to beat their encryption and privacy setup.
Heptabase is not opensource. You can try the app for 1 week for free. I have been following HB since it's alpha development approx 3.5 years ago (and moderate their Discord channel as well). They have a small dev team that are very open and accessible. They have been able to self-sustain via their subscription model from very early on, even though there were early 'seed' and Angel stage investors (who I am told by the founder are very hands-off)

@Nead The ability to export notes isn't enough, unfortunately. I want to be able to access note files directly, and manipulate them freely using other applications. That's what I mean by "using an open format".
Heptabase seems to focus on visuals. My use case is very simple though: plain text notes, with occasional embedded images. HB is neither free nor open source. I'm afraid it's not for me.

After thinking about it, i have reached the conclusion that apartment are not for housing, they are for storage, they are not a dignified way of living. And many slums and poor peoole houses are spiritual apartments even if they are on the ground floor and no neighbors above or below. No matter how expensive they are, how luxurious they are. They are still human storage, just like goyslop is not food, is just nutriton and barely so. Still owning real estate is better than not owning at all even if it is an apartment to store yourself at night. You shoud try your best to escape the apartment trap the same way you should escape processed food and grains as much as possible.

Meanwhile I'm reminded of how weak Lea is in the game. Tried the new highest difficulty, she gets utterly destroyed. For other characters, difficulty scales faster because they spend more time getting levels and items. Lea's difficulty scales slower in general since she's just weaker, incentivizing moving fast. Problem is bosses still do good damage. She's the kind of character that needs an ideal build quick if she's to make it far. I wasn't thinking about that and ended up with a mess of a build where she wasn't doing anywhere near enough damage to clear fields of enemies. Didn't even have a chance to make it to the sob emoji stage with how bad the run went.
