Solidarity International Anti-repression groups from different parts of the world create a solidarity network
Levels of repression against anarchists and other anti-authoritarians has been high for many years. In many parts of the world alongside the growth of fascist tendencies more and more people end up in prison in the struggles for just and equal societies. As internationalists we believe that support for those under state repression is not an exclusive responsibility of local anarchist and anti-authoritarian groups. On the other hand we can spread and deepen our resistance to repression on a international level, creating stronger networks of solidarity and a shared analysis of the states repressive apparatuses.
For this reason we’ve decided to create Solidarity International -a network of anarchist and anti-authoritarian support groups from different parts of the planet.

A8 I co-garden with a friend who lives a few blocks away. Summer squash season is in full swing, and we have these enormous tromboncino squashes. Transporting them on the bike is a bit of a challenge -- it's usually easiest to wrap them around my neck.

A8. This is the bicycle compartment of the German train that took me to Berlin today (as I had to take a break cycling because of todays hard hits on sandy "roads" at the Polish border). Mine is somewhere in between. The conductor was very relaxed and let us all in. It is ment for maybe 8 bicyles. I counted 15 bicycles, 1 handcart, 1 baby carriage.

There are often a daft number of gates on our routes but if we’ve enough riders and you end up positioned well in the group it’s quite possible to have a clean run through long Strava segments and so pick up PRs/QOMs/KOMs. I’d held 2 gates open here so as to give everyone a chance of picking something up on this climb. 🥇 🥈🥉and 🏆 all round!

Due to the heat and my odd biorhythm, I rode 61km during the night at comfy 19℃, but took no pictures. The pictures are from a day later driving southward with my campervan following the old railway line.

as i watched those videos Jes mentioned on reviewing old smartphones, it is fascinating how it was almost universal for people to say they preferred the “stock android” experience, and every custom version had to contend with being compared to it, often at a detriment
it is anecdotal but for the longest time I heard Motorola was better because they offered a “purer” Android, often compared to Samsung (which is true), and I distinctly remember my friend mentioning she hated Samsung phones because of TouchWiz (ironically, both him and the Samsung owner now use iOS)
in truth, everyone was running piss poor hardware so anything was detrimental nowadays the cheapest phones are likely, in raw numbers, more powerful than the older Androids of the day (not that being cheap devices will lead to a great experience)

Yes, Motorola had a pretty “stock-ish” experience, and HTC’s UI got “stock-ish” towards the end – I owned a HTC 10 and it was a very good implementation of “stock” Android, in fact it was one of the reasons I purchased it in the first place
i think it’s interesting because this is not true anymore, every manufacturer has their custom version and i think they work well, we are long past the touchwiz days even Pixels don’t run stock android like nexus did
yeah, like, there’s no such thing as “stock” any more. I guess the Pixels are close enough, but that’s Google-flavoured, rather than “stock”. You are right that Samsung UI is actually good and usuable, design aside. Like, that was the problem with custom UIs back in the day, like TouchWiz, was that it was actually actively working against you
Although, TouchWiz and other OEM UIs had a lot of features that are now mainstream in Android that Google didn’t implmenent until much later
The HTC UI has always been the best of the OEMs in those days, IMHO, because it was actually useful and wasn’t over the top, and it became much more refined as it incorporated more “stock” elements, and the same is true of the LG UI
Anyway, HTC and LG are basically dead globally so, that sucks

The LG G7 was a very cohesive experience, like LG really put a lot of thought into little things: like how switches made a subtle vibration when you toggled them, or how you could tap on the notification bar twice to lock it anywhere, or the vibration motor would work in sync with ringtones/notifications, and other little things like that
The Pixels are good phones, but Google hasn’t really put a lot of thought into the small stuff to make it feel like they put real attention to detail beyond just shipping their OS

Sounds like Survivorship bias tbh. And I hope I am right. Basically if fascism doesn't survive people won't call it fascism because it never got too that stage. So only the moments when it does evolve into fascism it gets noted as fascism.
Counterpoint: There is NO country with more than 50 years of continuous liberal democracy that went fully back into authoritarianism.
Countries that had long democratic traditions (say, the UK, US, Nordics) have proven extremely resilient. Most collapses happened in democracies with less than ~40 years of experience.

One minor nitpick is that I noticed a sliver of American exceptionalism: while surely Italy, Spain and others *were* "broken countries" (in some aspects), from a European perspective the US is broken, too. It willingly marched into a corner where political discussion is impossible and and spawned a corporate hydra (Silicon Valley) that's now out of control.
The choice is between socialism and barbarism, and conservatives consistently choose barbarism. Liberals also tend to go that way when push comes to shove, but are occasionally clear-eyed enough to at least make temporary allies with socialists and communists for a short period to resist fascism.
I have no data but absent a radical departure from the government that fascism seemed a good alternative to for many, it seems expected that just using politics would fail. In the case of the us, congress became a talent agency that turns media outrage into donations.
i think it’s interesting to remember that, despite now using english as much, if not more, than portuguese, i had to learn english, like a regular person
