En dépit de ce que chacun peut voir au premier coup d’œil, nous avons un organe qui publie le tableau sous le titre : « La fécondité est stable depuis 40 ans en France »… Comprenne qui pourra. On voit bien la fin du « baby boom » au début des années 1960, puis une vague stabilité jusqu’en 2010 et ensuite une nette baisse.
La fertilité indique les potentialités d’avoir un enfant. Sa baisse mesure les difficultés croissantes qu’ont de nombreux couples pour avoir l’enfant qu’ils désirent avoir. Un couple sur huit consulte pour des raisons d’infertilité. C’est l’infertilité des femmes, notamment depuis le COVID, et celle des hommes dont la qualité du sperme s’est nettement dégradée. Les causes « environnementales » sont souvent évoquées, mais il y a peut-être des évolutions plus profondes. On constate donc une baisse de la fécondité (établie à partir des naissances constatées. Avec à peine plus de 1,5 enfant par femme, la France se rapproche du « standard » européen : 1,38 pour l’ensemble de l’UE avec au bas du classement Malte [1,06] et en haut la Bulgarie [1,81]. Aucun pays d’Europe n’assure le renouvellement naturel de sa population.
Une question mondiale
La tendance est générale. Elle touche massivement le Sud-est asiatique, notamment la Chine [dont la population baisse], le Japon et la Corée du Sud qui bat tous les records avec 0,8 enfant pas femme. Les pays du Proche et Moyen orient sont sur la même tendance : 1,7 en Iran, 1,73 au Qatar, 1,2 pour les Émirats. Même si dans de nombreux pays la fécondité permet de poursuivre la croissance de la population, la tendance générale est à la baisse y compris en Afrique subsaharienne. Il y a peu de temps encore, les prévisionnistes annonçaient un explosion démographique pour 2100 [15 milliards d’humains sur Terre], mais aujourd’hui la tendance s’est renversée : on se dirigerait plutôt vers une stagnation globale à 10 milliards en 2100. Mais certains chercheurs prévoient une décroissance : dans un article publié dans la revue The Lancet, des scientifiques de l’université de Washington ont par exemple remis en question ces prévisions. Selon leur scénario de base, la population devrait culminer en 2064 à 9,7 milliards d’habitants, avant d’amorcer un déclin. D’ici 2100, ils supposent que la planète pourrait ainsi héberger entre 6,3 et 8,8 milliards de personnes — donc potentiellement moins qu’en 2022. Ces chercheurs concluent que la survenue et le rythme du déclin démographique seront liés à la vitesse de réalisation des objectifs mondiaux de développement durable, notamment dans les domaines de l’éducation des filles et de l’accès à la contraception.
On sait que la prédiction est un art bien difficile et que les comportements reproductifs des humains sont particulièrement difficiles à prévoir. Mais la tendance est si nette qu’on n’hésite plus à invoquer la perspective d’un « hiver démographique ».
Et la France ?
La population française, en raison de l’inertie propre aux phénomènes démographiques, va continuer d’augmenter encore pendant un certain temps, mais sa stagnation et sa baisse sont maintenant à l’ordre du jour. Certes :
Contrairement à celui de la plupart des autres pays européens où il est négatif [21 pays sur les 27 de l’UE] [1], le solde naturel [différence entre les naissances et les décès] est positif en France, bien que faible [47 000], de même ordre de grandeur qu’en 2022 [51 000]. Il contribue à la croissance de la population. Le solde migratoire [différence entre les entrées et les sorties du territoire], également positif et estimé à 183 000 en 2023 par l’Insee, contribue de façon plus importante à la croissance de population que le solde naturel [pour 4/5 en 2023]. Mais on aurait tort de chanter « tout va très bien, Madame la Marquise ». En effet, le phénomène du vieillissement est nettement engagé. Si la fécondité reste au niveau actuel, le solde naturel de la population deviendra négatif en 2030, sur fond de vieillissement accéléré ! Cette perspective soulève d’énormes problèmes. Certains sont bien connus, comme celui du financement de la protection sociale, non seulement des retraites, mais aussi de l’assurance maladie — les personnages coûtent nettement plus cher que les jeunes en bonne santé ! On peut repousser l’âge de départ ne retraite : ce ne serait que reculer pour mieux sauter. On ne mettra pas les centenaires au travail. L’explosion du nombre de centenaires et de supercentenaires depuis le début des années 2000 est remarquable et la France pourrait dépasser 250 000 en 2070. Mais ils n’auront pas une santé de jeunes femmes et de jeunes hommes. L’espérance de vie en bonne santé stagne globalement ou n’augmente que très légèrement. Il faudra soigner des cohortes de grabataires — c’est peut-être pour éviter cette perspective qu’a été adoptée la loi médicalisant le suicide, c’est-à-dire l’euthanasie… Si on ne veut pas mettre en œuvre la méthode radicale de Un bonheur insoutenable de Ira Levin — on pique les gens quand ils atteignent 64 ans — il faudra bien repenser de fond en comble notre organisation sociale. Pour l’heure, nos gouvernants sont plutôt sur la ligne dystopique, à ceci près que les riches pourront se voir garantir le permis de vivre vieux.
Le vieillissement de la population a d’autres effets globaux au regard du dynamisme de la nation, de sa capacité productive, de son goût de l’innovation. Mais ceci n’est particulièrement ennuyeux que si on reste dans le mode de production capitaliste soumis au principe de rendement, alors qu’il pourrait favoriser la tendance à la décroissance dans la ligne de Moins de Kohei Saïto.
Un autre problème se pose. Celui du recours à l’immigration pour pallier la baisse de la population. C’est déjà largement le cas : un solde migratoire positif de 180 000 par an, cela donne près de 10 millions d’immigrés à l’horizon de 2070. Si on ajoute à cela qu’il y a un différentiel de fécondité important entre les Français depuis plusieurs générations et les immigrés ou les Français de fraîche date, on risque bien d’assister à une transformation en profondeur de la population. « L’extrême droite » [Renaud Camus] et l’extrême gauche [LFI] partage le même diagnostic, les uns pour s’en effrayer et les autres pour s’en réjouir, les uns pour dénoncer « le grand remplacement », les autres pour appeler de leurs vœux une « nouvelle France » « créolisée ». Les premiers sont des trouillards qui jettent le manche avec la cognée et les seconds de dangereux irresponsables qui préparent la guerre civile. Là encore, les défis sont immenses et nécessitent un changement radical d’organisation de la société.
Un pays laissé à vau-l’eau
Que l’on se comprenne bien. Il serait absurde de prêcher une nouvelle croisade nataliste. Une population stagnante n’est pas forcément une mauvaise chose, globalement, mais une population stagnante dans le mode de production capitaliste, c’est une crise formidable qui se prépare et nous ne savons que trop comme le capital règle ses comptes en temps de crise structurelle. Là encore, il est impératif de reprendre à nouveau frais la question de l’émancipation nous libérant des liens du mode de production capitaliste.
Or, nous sommes, au moment présent sans aucune perspective. La dislocation de toute communauté humaine étend chaque jour un peu plus ses ravages. Le nihilisme progresse et, au lieu de se préparer à affronter les défis, de toutes parts on accélère le mouvement. Que des jeunes femmes se retrouvent sous le mot d’ordre « No kids », « pas d’enfants », c’est déjà plus qu’inquiétant. Que la dernière réforme constitutionnelle ait consisté à inscrire le droit à l’IVG dans la liste des droits constitutionnels, c’est encore plus grave. On avait chanté les louanges de la « révolution sexuelle » [prétendue], mais un peu partout on observe une baisse de l’activité sexuelle des jeunes pour qui, semble-t-il, « la chair est triste » alors qu’ils sont loin d’avoir lu tous les livres ! La vie de famille, dans les faits, compte de moins en moins — même si tel ou tel sondage dit que le bonheur en famille est une chose essentielle. Le capital détruit toutes les communautés pour ne garder que l’individu nu et sans appartenance. Il détruit les nations, mais aussi la famille. Marx avait dit tout cela, mais une fois de plus les faits lui donnent raison.
Toutes les politiques gouvernementales ne font qu’aggraver ce processus général. Les irresponsables de LFI apportent leur eau à ce moulin. L’école comme institution républicaine est à l’agonie [voir l’article de Fabien Schang sur notre site]. « Les hommes avaient perdu le goût de vivre et se foutaient de tout, leur mère, leurts frangins, leur nanas… », chantait Serge Reggiani dans une fable sur l’invasion nazie. Les loups ne viennent plus des Carpates ou de Germanie, mais ils sont déjà entrés dans Paris. Allons-nous retrouver l’amour et la fraternité comme dans la chanson ?

Political and social movements need spaces. In liberal countries there are many open spaces where activists can hold debates, workshops, and concerts. Germany is no exception. In authoritarian countries the situation is more complicated. But sometimes it is only one step from an authoritarian regime from the former Soviet Union to German leftists.
In 2018, libertarian days took place in Dresden, a week of various presentations, workshops, and actions on the topic of anarchism and libertarian communism. Among other things, I had the idea of bringing comrades who could talk a bit about the situation in Israel. Despite the strong antigerman movement, local leftists and anarchists know relatively little about the situation in Israel, and most of the knowledge is direct propaganda from the right-wing government. This is partly the basis of the antigerman's success in some regions: they simply repeat the already existing propaganda of Netanyahu and Co.
After much discussion and correspondence, anarchist and writer Uri Gordon agreed to come. In order to make the trip a little more productive, it was decided to do a short info tour around a few towns in East Germany. Uri Gordon was once active in the anarchists against the wall and generally knows what he is talking about. Understandably, most german leftists don't really know who Gordon is, so they use YouTube to form their own idea of political views. One of the first videos online was Uri Gordon's talk about BDS (4 minutes), in which he expresses the opinion that BDS is the only serious company of peaceful resistance to the occupation and he supports it.
It's worth mentioning that if one says something positive about BDS, it explodes not only the German left, but also the German government – a few years ago a decree was passed that banned funding for scholars, politicians, activists and organizations actively supporting BDS. I think you can read up on the campaign yourself and draw your own conclusions.
Uri Gordon's was a problem both in Dresden and in Leipzig, a stronghold of antideutsch in eastern Germany. In Dresden, Gordon's event was held in a room allocated to a local hackers club associated relatively loosely with the city's traditional leftist movement. The presentation was part of a larger program and one of the lecturers said he would not participate in the event where Uri Gordon was speaking because he was anti-Semitic. The German's attempt to boycott the Jewish activist did not cause much of a rift in local standards for many. But the response to the boycott from the hackers was simple: “you don't want to do the presentation, don't do it.”
This attitude just warmed my soul – a week before the presentation, a man from the hacker collective called me and asked to come to a meeting to discuss the issue. I was expecting another discussion about Israel, BDS, anti-Semitism, and explaining to a dumb foreigner me how things work in Germany. Instead, it turned out to be very smooth and without much discussion. Uri Gordon speaks and the German fighter against anti-Semitism goes to hell.
The situation in Leipzig was a little more complicated. Local migrant anarchists took it upon themselves to organize an evening with Uri Gordon. Most of the local German leftists and anarchists refused to participate in bringing in an Israeli anarchist. But initially this should not have been a problem, after all some of the most active people in the anarchist movement in Germany today are migrants from the east, who know how to organize events without too many questions.
Inquiries were sent to several social centers. And a room seemed to be found in which Gordon could hold a lecture. The story turned into a bureaucratic circus pretty quickly. Although the space team initially agreed to the event, our comrades were later told that, unfortunately, the space would be occupied in time for Gordon's presentation. The other venues also refused the space because of the high workload on that day.
This approach reminded the comrade and me of the attitude towards politics in our home countries of Russia and Belarus. Officially, political events at Putin's or Lukashenko's are not prohibited. The problem arises when you try to find a venue for your demonstration or rally – unfortunately, here at the same time will be a fair, and then there's construction, and then the pipe burst. Generally speaking, for every request you make, the officials of authoritarianism will quickly find a reason to refuse at the time and place indicated.
Thus, the regimes are not opposed to any particular political views. You are simply unlucky enough to want to hold your event here and now. Roughly the same situation happened to us when we tried to hold an event with Uri Gordon about anarchist and leftist activism in Israel.
And maybe some people would have been upset by this approach, and that would have been the end of the East Germany Infotour. But authoritarianism has taught us to look for solutions to any challenge. Fortunately, a solution to this kind of “repression” was invented back in the Soviet Union. Part of the cultural and political underground was the so-called “kvartirnik” – an events held in someone's apartment without access to the palaces of trade unions and palaces of culture found in every city of the former Soviet Union.
As a result, Gordon's presentation took place outside the infrastructure of the leftist movement in Leipzig in a semi-underground state – although publicity was done, it was unclear until the last moment at whose house the event would be held.
To add even more distaste towards Leipzig's left-wing movement was the story that a few months earlier, a right-wing antigerman had held a discussion in one of the city's largest left-wing venues, happily touting the positive role of the far-right Alternative for Germany in the fight against anti-Semitism. This is how there is room for right-wing Germans, but for an anarchist from Israel, unfortunately, all the rooms are occupied.
This attitude is not present in all of Germany. There are cities where the anarchist and anti-authoritarian agenda is liberated from the antigerman agenda and doesn't have much of anti-Semitic Jew-bashing bullshit. But there are cities in which the leftist movement is not only quite authoritarian in its dealings with any criticism directed at it (“sorry, we don't have room for you”), but also in its censorship of facts that don't fit the local subculture.
In such a situation, it becomes obvious that at least part of the leftist movement already has formed views about events around the world, and period. These perceptions are often at odds with reality, and facts are simply sifted out without any attempt to take criticism into account in developing their own philosophy, even from people from the regions. The adequacy of such a leftist and anarchist movement in some regions of Germany is gradually disappearing into the past, and its place is taken by dogmas that have nothing to do with reality.
I, for my part, am glad to have such comrades who do not quit in the face of arrogance, but continue to engage in education and international exchange with comrades from other countries. And where the leftist movement will not be able to provide us with a platform for agitation, we will take the old paths that generations before us have followed!

Dans une chanson troublante, intitulée « Né en 17 à Leidenstadt » Jean-Jacques Goldman nous interpellait pour nous obliger à un petit examen de conscience historique en nous posant la question : « et moi qu’aurais-je fait dans ces circonstances ? » À laquelle Goldman répondait pour dire qu’on ne saurait jamais :

Personnellement je répondais, armé d’une conviction selon laquelle, pendant la deuxième guerre mondiale, j’aurais été protégé par une éducation et une culture familiale qui envoya quatre de ses fils en âge de porter les armes, combattre du bon côté. Pour voir trois d’entre eux tués à l’ennemi. Mon père, le survivant, héros de la résistance et du combat pour la Libération dans les armées françaises m’a toujours dit que pour lui « ce choix avait été facile. Car il n’y en avait pas d’autre ». Devoir et si nécessaire sacrifice, n’étaient pas négociables.
Alors pour parcourir une longue vie d’engagement, préservé de la guerre, je me suis donné bonne conscience en me bricolant une devise commode : « la cause que l’on défend vaut moins que l’honneur qu’on met à le faire ».
Goldman termine cependant son interpellation en rappelant que les circonstances peuvent obliger à dévoiler « ce que nous avons dans nos ventres, caché derrière les apparences » :
« Mais qu'on nous épargne à toi et moi si possible très longtemps
D'avoir à choisir un camp »
Depuis le 7 octobre 2023, quoi qu’on pense de l’opération du Hamas et de ses crimes, pour répondre à la question de Goldman, il est devenu impératif de choisir un camp. Celui de l’opposition à ce qu’un pouvoir israélien monstrueusement dévoyé, soutenu par une majorité de sa population, mène depuis près de deux ans. Et qui reçoit la qualification irréfutable de génocide.
La France étant malheureusement un des pays les plus soumis à l’emprise américano-israélienne, c’est loin d’être facile. Darmanin, Retailleau et Dupond Moretti ont donné l’ordre à leurs flics et leurs juges de réprimer sans mollir ceux qui osent, ou qui laissent parler leur colère devant l’insupportable. Alors, ceux qui s’engagent ont-ils comme le dit Goldman « l’âme d’un brave » ? Peut-être, mais ce qui est sûr c’est que ceux qui soutiennent le massacre, le justifient, le légitiment, ou lui opposent le silence ont bien « l’âme d'un complice ou d'un bourreau ».
Alors cela a bien évidemment contraint à des choix, provoqué des ruptures, empêché les compromis. Rester insensible, à la mort de 20 000 enfants, ou le justifier à l’aide de mensonges et de dénis, trouver normal la cruauté et la dépravation parfois abjecte de la soi-disant « armée la plus morale du monde », nier l’organisation d’une famine, soutenir les pogroms des colons fanatiques et meurtriers en Cisjordanie occupée, empêche radicalement de poursuivre la moindre relation normale.
Il ne s’agit pas de leur déclarer la guerre, de pousser à l’affrontement, mais d’être clair. À ceux-là, auraient-ils été des amis, des proches, voire des intimes, nous n’avons plus rien à dire.

last month or so I looked up Italian firearms and it was apparent that the Carcano was The rifle from and for Italy and is since the only Italian rifle round weapon I know by name.
Shared its final service waves with smaller calibers early(?) Beretta stuffs. I remember my eyes reading this stuff but have this feeling someone who actually knows about this can call bullshit.
On more real note I guess if they want to go old rifle they want the whole old rifle, but looking around and seeing that it already had multiple chibi versions, and a chibi version with a grenade launcher.

Linux is an awesome system. It's fast, it's full of various choices, it's stable and powerful, and it runs most servers in the world.
But on the desktop, it's been stuck at 1 to 2% market share for ages. We're seeing a lot of progress on the various desktop environments, on gaming, and on user experience, but it's still not really moving forward. Let's go over a few reasons why Linux should really have more market share on the desktop and a few more reasons why it isn't all that popular there, right after this !

Ok, so Linux is super popular and is starting to be well known. Developers all know about it, everyone using Android uses Linux as well, and it's really the only choice for any "internet of things" device.
Servers running something other than Linux are in the vast minority, and even Microsoft has their own distro for Azure. Valve is focused on bringing gaming to Linux as well, and Microsoft, of all people, is porting software to our OS. Surely it means that Linux is already the biggest OS out there, all devices included, right ?
Well, sure, if you're talking in terms of "shadow presence". Because no one knows that Linux exists apart from tech people and a few enthusiasts. An Android user has no idea that Google servers run Linux, or that Android uses the Linux kernel. Microsoft has ported 2 main applications, and they are based on technologies that already run on Linux, so it wasn't too difficult for them.
For the few non-technical users that know about Linux, they mostly have a terrible image of it. They still all see it as a command line hell, where there is no graphical tool for anything, where hardware doesn't work, and that could brick your computer, or will give hackers their data.
So sure, Linux is reaching far and wide, but it's also something of an unseen puppet master: it's there, but people have no idea that it is.
It is undeniable, though, that Linux is now one of the most powerful OSes on the planet. Graphical environments have gotten a lot better, with easier to use interfaces, a ton of simple applications, and some very complex ones for more advanced users.
The command line might be scary at the beginning, but it really makes using Linux something of a dream, a mix of graphical user experience, and some super powerful tools right at your fingertips.
GNOME, KDE, Pantheon, Cinnamon... They are all very user friendly these days, even if you have to re-learn a few habits from your previous systems. Graphical tools are everywhere, there are welcome screen to guide you through the experience, and cohesiveness and UI guidelines have made them really, really consistent and predictable in use.
The problem is: no one knows that, because most tutorials are still command line based! It's still an image problem: what use is it to have super powerful GUIS, if people can't find help describing how to use them. It's all "sudo" this, "apt install" that, Arch wiki and stuff. No one understands that.
More and more manufacturers have Linux devices preinstalled though. We have Dell, Lenovo, being champions of Linux these days, and many, many smaller retailers and manufacturers. Purism, Tuxedo, Starlabs, System76, Juno Computers, SLimbook...
You don't necessarily have to install Linux manually anymore, you can just buy a computer with Linux on it. Pretty easy.
The only problem ? No one will line up on Dell's website to pick the version marked "with Linux" instead of choosing the windows one, and save a magnificent 30 bucks in the process.
Ok, but once people see how much choice they can get on Linux, how much customization awaits them on their computers, there's no way they're ever going back to Windows.
This choice also scares users away. People don't know where to start, and each distro pushes for their own user base instead of pushing Linux as a whole. Look at our mascot: it's still that cartoony, fat bellied penguin. Do you think people will take that seriously? Marketing matters, man, how much I hate to admit it. As long as distros keep pushing for their own version of what they think Linux should be, we'll never reach anywhere near the market share Mac OS has. Our communication work is diluted, unfocused, and our official logos are just not enticing at all.
