The phone still works just as good as the day I got it. Holds a charge for several days and in every respect it's just as usable today as it was back when it was new.
There is simply no reason (other than financial) for #OnePlus or anyone else for that matter to stop publishing updates and security fixes for it.

hi. Many things have changed since the good old cyanogen days. Maybe most important: Google is pushing app developers into device integrity checking. Some apps will not work on lineageOS. For some there are cheats that can break at any time.
You still have the decision to install or not install GApps. But now there is a middle way: #microG
Device integrity checking is a good thing. Here's hoping the European Union nudges Google to figure out a way to do that with third party distros of their operating system. The fact that Google insists that only a device can be verified if it's running. Google's proprietary implementation of Android is what's at stake. Certainly there is no reason for that to be the case.
Well, with respect I disagree with you 1000%. My phone has more confidential and sensitive information than any physical or electronic device I have in my possession. It has the keys to my identity, and authentication to every system I am authorized to access. Preventing malware or a malicious actor from accessing the information on my phone, and preventing its unauthorized disclosure, is paramount today. This isn't 2007. This is 2025. The threats are much different (and worse) now.
i agree with you 100%. The only mistake you make is confusing Google slavery integrity with security. Many insecure stock devices get Google attestation. Root cheats get Google attestation. GrapheneOS doesn't (at least without play services)
