idk i'll price it out online and see what it'll cost for laser. it's honestly not that much more than buying the plate and doing it the hard way. last time i priced out something like this for laser cutting (my shop press) they quoted around $3-$500
this design has a lot of small parts that have to fit well, to get proper axle alignment, so i can't just plasma cut them by hand. i think laser should be good enough. i may end up having to CNC machine some critical parts anyway

@captain_arepa in latvia if ur in an older building its like 50/50 if pipes can handle it but you'll know, i dont tend to shit away from home anyways. old pipes are too narrow there get clogged. in amerikkka the pipes are wide enough and everybody does that but the water is weak and the toilet designs are infuriating and it feels like every other time i have to take a shit it clogs just from the shit alone which NEVER happened to me in latvia, plunger is a necessity in amerikkka, perhaps should be most places, NEVER OWNED ONE BACK HOME, i can't even think of seeing them much, tbh

I used to meditate until I could feel arbitrary muscles or body parts. Then I'd meditate until muscle tension released. Then I'd meditate until I accepted that the chaotic color swirls and patterns when I close my eyes would never stop moving (probably because of tinnitus+synaesthesia).
I realized this week that the good meditation stopping point these days consistently coincides with when I can feel the tension and vibrations from my creaky fingers. I don't have arthritis but I am likely heading that direction. #BurnoutRecovery

Nona the Ninth continues to be bizarrely different from the previous two in the series. Reading nonfiction isn't terribly compelling right now, nor is writing.

I remembered some things that I love about what I do — e.g., supporting growth, synthesizing complex sociotechnical events, designing strategic plans that anticipate and address future challenges, and helping humans and organizations navigate context-sharing and decision-making around deep technical minutiae that are keystones for bigger challenges.

Burnout recovery leave, day 54 (8 out of 12 weeks): It doesn't feel great not to have gotten any of the things I wanted to get out of leave — but I'm coming to accept that I got other things out of it.
I didn't fix any health issues (actually I gained some thanks to a tick and Lyme disease 😅) — but I ruled out some issues that I don't have.
I didn't improve my mental or emotional health skill set — but I reinforced which skills and practices are working for me, and which I am not currently finding useful (ugh, CBT).
I didn't discover any helpful habit or environment or structure changes — but I reinforced the value of a regular sleeping & eating schedule.
I didn't read or play anything particularly good, and I didn't get any useful home maintenance/improvement done. We really need curtains in the office : /
The purpose of taking leave from work is to recover from burnout, not to write or hang curtains. However, doing things like writing and hanging curtains theoretically helps with recovery, and also serves as a signal of recovery.
Not having to do neurodivergent masking, camouflage, or compensation every day in the workplace is super helpful for recovery. Autistic burnout is often conflated with typical burnout — and I'm experiencing both.
So am I recovering from burnout? Yes and no. I think I'm heading in the right direction, but there are some other things I need that I won't share publicly.
Some people I've known have found benefits from DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) even more than or in addition to or alternative to CBT.
SMART goals helped for me when I took 12 weeks of short term disability for addiction recovery. It's just the smallest things that I keep track of getting accomplished during one day, or even smaller or larger measurable time periods.

The intel atom was kinda of a shity cpu. i had an Asus EEE 1015t with 2GB of ram that ran Ubuntu 10.04LTS like a glove it had an MD cpu and Radeon HD4300 graphics. So up until a year ago, every customer product facing cloud vuln they fixed wasn’t disclosed to customers - and yes, there are dead bodies in cupboards over that. Everything wasn’t magic immune from vulns until a year ago.
The progress here is they now opt to disclose cloud critical vulns - but nothing below that severity, which is a lot.
To give MS their credit, they’re the only cloud provider I’ve seen disclosing any cloud service vulns via CVE.
My feeling is still there needs to be extreme pressure from major governments that all cloud providers they use disclose all cloud service vulns as CVEs as part of their contracts - eg DoD, NHS - or no signing for new services.
at this point companies are making it really hard for security researchers to do the "responsible" and not just sell shit to the highest bidder. Disrespecting people who find security flaws is a great way to make people never tell you those flaws exist
