My question is what happens to the 5% that survive? My guess is that they get bought up by the likes of Alphabet (Google), Meta (Facebook), Microsoft, and Apple. Then we're stuck with their bullshit forever.

Thin-slied: "reliable sources", like the government. Catch 22 / "There's a hole in the bucket!"
As for the AI landscape (to sort of mirror it's tone), nobody can predict, or as #TrumpVirus says, "We'll see what happens". I tend to agree that most will be the property of big data with the re$ources (money/electricity/scale) to be a "winner".
What I'm seeing, based on both the strength & fallibility of (publicly accessible) AI,
is heavy use of disclaimers and qualifiers and efforts to seem neutral... But what I can foresee is a few major "channels" of AI, both in #media offerings and for consumers to pick and choose, which will basically reflect "the mind" of the owners, be it Musk (Grok), Meta, or maybe (hopefully) some neutral, public-service entity. Again, "we'll see..."
