I developed a gluten intolerance last year and I've been learning to deal with it since. I think it was causing me a lot of issues before i realized what it was and most of them are very reduced in severity now that I'm avoiding gluten. But cereals that didn't claim to have gluten ingredients have been fucking me up still. I didn't think it should be a problem to eat corn or rice cereal but it is. Rice Chex has been good for me so far but i feel like I'm just gambling now.

Hitting your kids & making them cry was a *joke* in our religious community. The way kids snuffle, cry, beg, & scream to not be hurt was talked about like it was funny. Oh, the rebellious little demons always try to dodge their inevitable punishment, ha ha ha ha.
The body keeps the score, yes? The fear & desperation digs down deep into your flesh & never fully leaves.
Many, many of us sought recovery & healing as we grew, but others stayed in those communities, never addressing the deep fear & sense of constant insecurity deep in their consciousness.
The abuse is the point. The abuse creates creatures of fear who don't know where it is coming from or how to direct or dissipate it.
They say the most basic human bond is that of a child to its parents. Ideally, the tiny, helpless child learns trust: that they will be cared for when they need it & comforted when they are sad or afraid or angry.
What happens when that trust is broken? When the child is punished for having needs or crying out for help?
No wonder fear proliferates in communities where committing such abuse of your children is required as a condition of entry.
Child abuse is one of the fundamentals of the fascist project: the damage to a person's sense of security & identity is more effective the younger it starts.
To liberate our world, we must liberate children. "Parents rights" are nothing: you do not have the right to abuse or neglect a child regardless of their relation to you.
And as long as infants & young children are raised in pain & fear, that pain & fear will reverberate through our world.

My spouse grew up in a "they are just doing x,y,z for attention" house, and it was a breakthrough for her that needing attention is not a bad thing. This line was used to dismiss all kinds of bullying and neglect.

Llevo siendo fan de Harry Potter desde los 9-10 años y en todo este tiempo he comprado y me han regalado todo tipo de merch de la saga, asi que cuando me enteré de que JK estaba financiando proyectos transfobos y en contra del colectivo LGBTIQ+ me sentí fatal por haber permitido que todo ese dinero fuese destinado a algo de lo que estoy completamente en contra. Me reconozco como persona queer desde los 13 años asi que me dolió especialmente por eso, asi que decidí que no volvería a comprar más cosas de Harry Potter e intento que no me las regalen.
Entonces, cuando hace poco J. K. Rowling financió con dinero obtenido de Harry Potter una campaña transfoba que llevó a la retirada de derechos de personas trans de Reino Unido, se me ocurrió que algo que podía hacer para aportar mi pequeño grano de arena era donar dinero a asociaciones trans, ¿y que mejor manera de hacerlo que vendiendo las cosas de Harry Potter que ya no quiera y donar todo el dinero que obtenga?
