Italy: Call to Send Mail to Alfredo Cospito Against Censorship and Isolation
To break the isolation to which Alfredo Cospito is subjected, in particular through the almost complete blocking of mail, his supporters are calling for a massive letter writing to him. Even if letters and postcards can be blocked by the prison administration, this testifies to the existence of significant support for the anarchist prisoner held under the 41bis solitary confinement regime. They point out that it is useful, even if they are not tracked letters or even if they are simply postcards, with or without indication of the sender. Previously, a campaign to send tracked letters had been organized. They have been blocked and the Court for the Execution of Sentences is due to rule on the case in the coming weeks. Finally, in addition to the question of the mail, on September 14 there will be a hearing about the “judgment of conformity”, in relation to the prison of Bancali (where he is detained): this is a procedure where the judge will rule on the ability of the prison to enforce an authorization granted [to a prisoner], but from which he is not really allowed to benefit. It is about the possibility for Alfredo to access the establishment’s library, something that had been authorized, but without him ever being able to benefit from it. If he decides that Alfredo is right, the judge will appoint another figure, outside the prison administration, to ensure that this authorization is respected.
His supporters propose that each collective or individual who wants to participate in this mobilization commit to sending at least seven postcards to Alfredo, during a given week in order to guarantee the visibility and continuity of the campaign. Individuals or groups can send their availability to evaliber2@inventati.org before September 1st. Based on availability, we will draft a schedule in which each individual/collective will be told a week during which to send cards/letters to Alfredo.

Really? I think they've always been terrible myself. Tho it was much easier to ignore them before social media and when they had a few random cable channels.
I remember the media really pushed Howard Dean as a grassroots figure, lots of cover photos of him eating turkey sandwiches on Skype with supporters. That was a big deal back then. Belgium: Anarchist Detained and Threatened with Deportation
Anas Hmam is an anarchist activist, committed to the struggles against colonialism and racism, in particular for the Palestinian cause, in Brussels. He has been detained in a closed centre for undocumented migrants in Belgium for almost a month and a half. He is threatened with deportation to Morocco, where he risks being arrested because of his anarchist political commitment. Initially imprisoned in the closed centre of Bruges, he was transferred on 16 August to the 127bis closed centre in order to isolate him from the revolt movement that took place last week, of which he is accused of being one of the “leaders”.

The fact I bristle at the thought of paying for my own search only highlights the level of undermining we have had around search. Ofcourse we should pay for it and in exchange we get a set of incentives from the search provider that aligns to our objectives. I've just been trained to assume it should be free (and the true cost hidden).
We need to unlearn our habits that cost us our privacy and gave us ineffective search results.

Greek Court Sentences Turkish Activist to 74 Years in Prison
Barış Erhan is an activist who has long been involved in the struggles of the revolutionary left in Turkey. Because of his activities against Erdoğan’s fascist regime, he has been investigated and prosecuted. He suffered social and political repression and was forced to seek asylum in Europe. While trying to reach Greece by boat with many other people, he was arrested and accused of being a migrant smuggler.
After spending more than a year in prison, he was sentenced in June 2025 to 74 years in prison as the documents and testimonies presented by Barış and his friends, proving that he was not a smuggler, were ignored by the Greek court. Today, an international campaign is calling for his release and for a rally on the first Saturday of every month in front of the official representations of the Greek state in the various European countries (see here).

In the early morning hours of July 23rd, an Insitu van was set ablaze while it sat in an empty lot across from their office in Hood River, OR. This fire was set, because the growth of the national security state poses an existential threat to all those who dream of free world. We act in total antagonism against those who enable and profit from militarism, policing and surveillance.
Insitu, a fully owned subsidiary of Boeing, develops and manufactures drone technology for military and law enforcement use. The Boeing Insitu RQ-21 Blackjack and MQ-27 ScanEagle surveillance drones have been integrated into weapons systems operated by the US Navy and Marine Corp. ScanEagle UAV’s are actively being utilized by the Saudi-led coalition forces as part of their ongoing military intervention in the Yemeni civil war.
In 2023 the Customs and Border Protection agency began conducting technology evaluations of the Blackjack and ScanEagle drones for surveillance purposes at the US-Mexico border. In 2011 Insitu introduced the Inceptor, a small unmanned helicopter designed to fit in the trunk of cop cars. This further demonstrates that technology developed for military interventions abroad will always be reconstituted for domestic counter insurgency and repression through policing and border enforcement.

Lundi 11 août, le conseil de fondation du World Economic Forum se réunit pour la séance qui doit décider du sort du fondateur Klaus Schwab. Irrégularités financières, manipulation d’études et allusions sexuelles : telles sont les accusations portées contre Schwab par des lanceurs d’alerte anonymes peu avant Pâques. Le cabinet Homburger a enquêté sur ces accusations pendant des mois. Le rapport est maintenant disponible. Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, l’homme fort du WEF depuis la démission forcée de Schwab, a invité le fondateur à la réunion. Schwab dispose de 20 minutes pour s’exprimer devant le conseil de fondation assemblé – et pose ses conditions pour un accord : Schwab est prêt à quitter le terrain, il renonce même au titre de président d’honneur. En échange, il exige cependant d’être complètement disculpé et réhabilité des accusations. Blanchiment complet Schwab l’emporte. Vendredi, lui et le conseil de fondation règlent officiellement leur différend. L’enquête n’a révélé aucune preuve d’« inconduite substantielle » de Klaus Schwab, selon le communiqué du conseil de fondation. L’épouse Hilde Schwab est également disculpée des accusations d’abus de frais. Les petites irrégularités constatées seraient plutôt l’expression d’un "grand engagement" que d’une inconduite intentionnelle. Le conseil de fondation regrette que le couple Schwab ait été soumis à une pression intolérable par l’attention publique. Frappant : le conseil de fondation n’aborde pas l’accusation de manipulation du classement annuel des pays du WEF – le Global Competitiveness Report. Schwab se serait opposé pour des raisons politiques à une rétrogradation de l’Inde. Il se serait aussi opposé à un meilleur classement de la Grande-Bretagne après le Brexit. Un autre détail du communiqué ne cadre pas avec le blanchiment de Schwab : le WEF s’excuse auprès des employés qui n’ont pas été traités « à leur satisfaction » dans le passé. Dans un passé où Klaus Schwab régnait pratiquement en monarque absolu au WEF.
Conséquences tirées Le camp Schwab présente la réhabilitation par le conseil de fondation comme une conséquence purement factuelle du rapport Homburger. Tous les soupçons se seraient évaporés lors de l’examen. D’autres sources contredisent cependant cette présentation. Les concessions auraient été nécessaires pour trouver un accord avec Schwab. Le blanchiment aurait été la condition préalable pour sortir l’organisation de sa paralysie et engager les réformes urgentes. Seul un homme s’est opposé à cet accord : le président intérimaire du conseil de fondation Peter Brabeck-Letmathe. Quand il a constaté que cela aboutirait à un blanchiment complet de Schwab, il a remis sa démission mardi. « Je ne voulais pas être celui qui guiderait le conseil à travers cette phase », dit Brabeck-Letmathe dans un entretien avec la « NZZ am Sonntag ». Avec la direction du WEF depuis le départ de Schwab et l’assurance que les accusations seraient examinées dans un rapport indépendant, il avait accompli sa mission. Pour un accord avec Schwab, il ne serait pas le bon homme, poursuit l’ancien patron de Nestlé : « Certains compromis ne sont pas compatibles avec mes valeurs et mon sens de l’intégrité. » Brabeck-Letmathe ne veut pas entrer dans les détails des exigences concrètes de Schwab et des concessions du conseil de fondation. Il souligne cependant que sa démission a été volontaire et sans pression du conseil de fondation. D’autres cercles proches du WEF confirment cette version.
La rupture entre Schwab et Brabeck La rupture entre les deux personnalités alpha s’est produite à Pâques 2025, quand le conseil de fondation a confié à Homburger l’enquête sur les accusations contre la volonté de Schwab. « C’était la première fois que je m’opposais à Klaus Schwab », dit Brabeck-Letmathe. La conséquence fut une bataille acharnée. Schwab a poursuivi le comité de gouvernance du WEF pour diffamation et contrainte. Dans la plainte, il aurait nommément cité Brabeck, selon le « Wall Street Journal ». Inversement, des passages du rapport Homburger qui incriminaient Schwab ont été divulgués au public par indiscrétion. Brabeck-Letmathe ne se considère pas comme le perdant de cette lutte de pouvoir. Il est soulagé que tout soit maintenant terminé : « Ces derniers mois, l’atmosphère était toxique. Je suis content d’avoir retrouvé ma liberté. » Klaus Schwab a aussi dû faire des concessions. Il ne peut plus jouer aucun rôle opérationnel ou représentatif au WEF – l’organisation qu’il avait créée il y a plus de 50 ans. Lors de la réunion annuelle de Davos, il doit laisser la scène à l’héritier Roche André Hoffmann et au patron de Blackrock Larry Fink. Ils président le conseil de fondation par intérim en co-présidence.
La famille Schwab reste représentée au conseil de fondation Schwab garde cependant encore un accès à son œuvre de vie : il peut proposer un membre de sa famille comme successeur au conseil de fondation. C’est ce que prévoient les statuts du WEF. Le fils Olivier et la fille Nicole avaient appartenu par le passé au top management du WEF. Un rapport d’enquête antérieur avait reproché à Olivier d’avoir réagi trop tard aux plaintes d’agressions sexuelles dans son secteur. On ne sait pas encore si et quand Schwab fera usage de ses droits de fondateur. On ne sait pas non plus combien de temps Schwab pourra se réjouir de sa réhabilitation. Les lanceurs d’alerte se sont récemment attaqués avec une véhémence croissante au fondateur du WEF. Derrière cela se trouvent d’anciens employés du Forum qui se sentaient injustement traités par Schwab. Il reste à voir s’ils se contenteront des brèves excuses du WEF.
