1 John 3:1

"1. See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. "

The baby cardi habit is growing on me. I now have *two* Garter Yoke Baby Cardis on my needles - one in a vivid purple 4ply crepe, and one in a super-soft white 3ply merino.

Annoyingly, I have very few suitable stitch markers for fine needles - the photo shows my favourite, of which I have two - and most of what's available here in NZ is either plastic or big and dangly in an unhelpful way. (Or snaggy.)

Side note: why do NZ retailers all sell the same handful of products as each other? It's the same with fountain pens - not many companies sell them, but they all seem to stock endless Lamys.

Oct 9, 2025 @ 10:15 Good morning family & friends❣️ It is sunny and 47°F ATM - not sure if we reached our forecast low of 36°F overnight or not; our projected high is 56°F for today. It will be a busy one! Pete has a couple of friends coming from Indiana tomorrow so I need to get the house "company ready" without Emma...not sure how I will make that happen! But it will, it always does 💪! He is taking a nap right now, having been up since 3:30 to work on his end of the preparations, which he's been doing all week. It's a BIG JOB as he has had too much "stuff" for his tiny ham "shack" (4x6 room) which has made it all but unusable. Since his friends are coming to work on radio stuff with him, he needed more space than just his narrow path to his desk. So we have purchased metal shelving that now lines one wall of our bedroom, and he has been sorting and organizing said "stuff" all week. It is making a wonderful difference, and I think he is happy with it. He keeps only the things he actually needs to use frequently on shelves in his "shack" and the things for occasional use can wait their turn in the bedroom. It actually looks quite nice! Anyway, now I will get myself in gear - after he gets up but before the grands get off the school bus (they're spending the night) - and get my part done in there and the bathroom; meanwhile I can do the living areas. BUT FIRST I will start work on the first of the 89 songs I marked in the Rejoice Hymnal. Just for fun 😀. I'm making a pot roast for all of us for supper and will also get Don's guest post up along with a Fursday meme gallery. So, as I said, it will be a busy day and I'd better get started. See you later❣️✝️🎹🐕‍🦺🦜🙌🍅🥩🎄😆🚌❤️

A fitness instructor from Kentucky is speaking out for the first time since being r*ped and savagely beaten by an illegal Haitian with a long criminal record last year.

“I was beaten so bad, over and over again, and I did not understand why. I didn't know this man.”

“It's hard to believe there was someone like that on the streets and allowed to repeatedly commit crimes.”

“He was in and out of the court system and he kept doing bad things. It ended with me almost losing my life.”

As the Marxist pamphleteer Adam Smith wrote in his Leninist textbook *The Wealth of Nations*, "People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices."

After two decades studying our successful wee Nordic neighbours, I’d say a few things.

First, none became independent to be wealthier but to become more equal.

Second, long before national independence, their citizens were already in the driving seat, thanks to land reform and truly local control that never got regionalised away. As a result, Nordic citizens in small, powerful municipalities were modelling independence before they ever achieved it for their own state.

It's totally not a bubble that 97% of companies can't prove their multi-billion dollar "game-changing" AI investment is actually changing the game. They're just playing a sophisticated, high-stakes game of "trust me, bro" with their shareholders.

Clearly the business value is simply too profound to be measured by conventional metrics. 😆
