@picofarad No, this would be entirely self-engineered printed concrete structural members, assembled as a building skeleton, then covered over with printed concrete wall cladding, with blow-in mineral wool insulation in the voids. The dual wall concept would therefore only be self-supporting over its own story, transferring the weight down to foundation piers through arches, beams, columns, and ties. I don't like the current percentage of unprinted parts in "3D printed houses".
@picofarad Also, I intend to add submanifold cold water plumbing and home-run hot water plumbing, in PEX, with bypassable fire protection sprinklers on the cold water pipes. Two separate electrical conduit PVC pipes--for high voltage AC, and low voltage AC and DC--with pull tape and wire already in the segments before placement. Being able to put pipes inside the wall before you finish building it is a great advantage.
@picofarad Wood structures apply the wrong constraints. Commercial lumber sells straight sticks and rectangular boards, and carpentry assembles a stud wall and places it before infrastructure goes in and drywall finishes it.
A steel-beam skeleton is more apt. The beams and pillars support the structure, and all the work from there goes over it. Altering the support to use mainly compression and little tension, over fewer stories, is doable in reasonably sized reinforced concrete members.
i can envision that; i had to look up what concrete wall cladding meant. I didn't know you could just anchor a "sheet' of concrete to steel or whatever and now that's a wall.

@picofarad The concrete replaces two elements. Printer 1 is a fixed-frame XYZ-axis printer. It prints concrete structural elements reinforced by basalt fiber: columns, arches, subflooring, &c. These are assembled into a building skeleton, much like the steel frame of a taller building. Printer 2 is a robot-arm. It first prints temporary rails onto the subflooring. Then it follows the track, printing the outer walls and sinusoidal subwalls, and filling voids with mineral wool.
@picofarad Printer 2 is responsible for built-in features like plumbing and electrical channels, windows and doorways, and bookshelves or benches. It stops at fixed heights so that a human may manually install conduit, pipe, junction boxes, and window and doorway headers.

I'm not sure what happened with Framework besides what others in Fedi are saying (it seems that they got into hot water due to sponsoring Omarchy and Hyperland, two projects notorious for toxic communities), but I feel that the team should have reassured community members that their own dev communities would not be as toxic, especially towards marginalized users. We can certainly dispute whether or not we should support useful projects from shitlords, but supportive dev communities help talented contributors from unwarranted harassment. It's why a lot of Pleroma/Akkoma communities have held up, where open federation doesn't mean that they can't maintain comfy communities that people can feel safe in.
Then again, it could be either that Framework doesn't know the full extent of Omarchy and Hyperland's toxicity, or that they're techbro babies who are scared of confronting the tech industry's worst social issues. For the former, they can take the time to reassess Omarchy and Hyperland based on their community support, since even though they want to listen to other political perspectives, they certainly would not accept the plain hostility that those communities have. For the latter, Framework doesn't seem nearly as shitty as Bluskey's team, who threw a temper tantrum for un-banning a known bigot just becuase they're a famous influencer, so I can see them trying to make amends to upset users, but if not, we should be more comfortable with losing our faith in ethical companies. The shitfucks at Fairphone took away the headphone jack because they didn't care about how much much much much more sustainable wired headphones are (they got into disposable wireless earbuds, even), and Framework previously made a desktop with a proprietary form factor when the mini-ITX form factor was right there. Even while they're overall better than the rest of the industry, they have built their brands based on a higher moral standard than the rest of the industry, so they should be held to that higher moral standard.
