So basically, the candidate should just accept whatever shit sandwich the company is offering and not be concerned about whether the job is actually a good fit for them. I bet their turnover stats are eye popping.
sounds like some employers in Malta...ask about salary and work culture in a job interview here, and you will have just scuppered your chances- it's frustrating and ridiculous
no. no way. i flatly refuse to believe this is real. there is no way an employer would actually have the balls to refuse to hire anyone who asked them the only three questions any employee would ever ask in an interview
I remember a firm rule in IT in the UK in the 90s that pay and conditions shouldn't be discussed till the final (usually 3rd) interview, as the culture was that in the first two interviews, they asked questions and you answered, then in the final interview you got to ask them some questions, and that made a twisted sort of sense... But this literally says during the entire interview "process" ⛳⛳⛳⛳
Good grief! When I was in HR many moons ago I used to do interviews and I would always say that interviews were an opportunity for BOTH parties to see if the job was a fit for them. And my advice today remains the same - if you're going for an interview then it is as much an opportunity for you to interview the company as it is for them interviewing you.
that's super weird... esp. the part about not discussing job responsibilities... they literally don't expect the candidate to ask what the job will be?????
maybe they have to advertise the job for some reason but don't intend to fill the position or have already picked some nepo baby to fill it...
It would be interest to see the list of things they want to discuss.
How about the pension plan, 401K matching, the health ins plan, their D&B report. or about when I feel its necessary to come into the office, what kind of office will be provided and how fast is the video conferencing facility.
To all recruiter: I'll be accepting job descriptions on tues and thrus, be sure to include all relevant information.
Every day that passes there are further validations in my commitment to making the best of a financially poor existence.
Fuck employers - they are all shit!
If any employer takes umbrage at this, you are welcome to apply to employ me, I have skills you need, please DM to start the process.
Fair warning, you will have to prove that you are a truly outstanding, exceptionally excellent awesome employer that will go out of their way to accomodate me 🤣
Asking what job you will be doing for an undisclosed salary is so unprofessional. I suppose asking about benefits and my work schedule is also off the table. Is this job on a pirate ship?
@DemocracyMattersALot All, and I do mean ALL, job interview questions should be asked by the applicant and not the employer. Otherwise nothing can be trusted.
To be honest, I at least consider it a plus that they're waving those red flags so prominently rather than wasting their time going further along before realizing what a hellscape that job must be.
Wow. Flags raised. I'm now wishing they hadn't anonymized that, because I want to know what company is that stupid – after all if the hiring process is like that I want to stay away from their products as well.
There are a limited number of reasons why someone doesn't want to discuss a topic, some of which can't possibly apply here. The ones that do make this reply itself a huge red flag.
well they only say they don't like to discuss asking questions about those things; so obviously this means you can still discuss the things and ask questions about the things, as long as you don't try to discuss asking questions about the things
i'd probably email them back to say well that's not going to be an issue since i was asking questions about the things and not discussing asking questions about the things
but this does raise the question of whether or not *they* are discussing asking questions about the things, but i suppose as this email is not part of the interview process they do like to discuss asking questions about the things
these fuckers will ruin thousands of lives to make a buck, but heaven forfend a worker shows even a whisper of monetary interest in the job as if the whole system isn’t predicated on you have to have money to survive.
Right. The only circumstance I can think of where this would sort of make sense is if the post was for a guard dog and they didn't expect the applicant to use words, and found it _concerning_.
To be honest, I don't believe anything I read on #reddit. People post just to get a reaction. This isn't to say nothing is real over there, but I don't have the forebearance to determine what's what.
