There is a movement to "prove that the datacenter water issues is fake". If you venture into Muskrat's hell site, you can see the community note these people put on this great piece of investigative journalism, accusing them of unfairly implicating datacenters.

It's not a "water" crisis, it's an energy crisis. 3/4's of the worlds surface is covered in water, there is no shortage of water, there is a shortage of fresh water but salt water can be turned into fresh water ad-infinitum if adequate energy is present, and this is only one domain where lack of sufficient energy is emerging. Rather than whine about something that might actually give as a chance at moving forward as a society, how about we address the fundamental problem. Molten salt thorium reactors could provide energy for the next 10,000 years, do it cleanly, safely, and eliminate existing long term nuclear waste stockpiles in the process.
