i take serious issue with the anthropocentrism applied to ideas of animism/sentience, which is found not just in academia but in anti intellectual schools of thought (abrahamic view of animals)

recently i was reading this academic paper that was sent to me about whether or not AI (LLMS) can be considered animism . it argues that animism is when something nonhuman is able to exhibit the traits of one, emotions etc, so passing the turing test . this of course is an attempt at rational denial of ensoulment of nonhuman beings, as if they were golems enchanted by kabbalists . the thing about the turing test is that in the classic setting, the tester will always know that one of the subjects is the non-human . in a wild setting the bot is able to pass the test far easier . what would stop an android that is modeled to be an animal and replicate animal behavior from being just as animated as the humanoid bot?
