These suckers of #EU funded a #genocide. They kept giving political and military cover for the zionist regime for 19 months of genocide. Or for more than 2 months now of total blockade of #Gaza.
19 months saying "Israel has the right to defend itself". For European leaders the colonizer has this right but the colonized not. The colonized needs to be under the genocidal intentions of the colonizer forever.
After all, what we have from the heads of EU? "They WANT TO review their trade relations" with an entity that commits genocide while they took immediate measures against Russia for the invasion of 2022. They haven't take ANY MEASURE against Israel who commits genocide for 19 months and 77 years.
There is no doubt. Current and previous EU leaders commit ethnic cleansing and genocide in Gaza.

A group of #EU officials has written to the leaders of the European institutions criticising the bloc for “little or no meaningful action” in response to the dire humanitarian crisis in #Gaza.

EU “inaction” has “contributed to the environment of unaccountability that resulted in the full-scale invasion of the Gaza Strip taking place at this moment”, continues the letter sent to the presidents of the European Commission, European Council and the #European parliament.

The letter was sent less than a week after the EU foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas announced a review of the EU’s trade agreement with Israel, at the behest of a large majority of member states. The EU staff group welcomed this move, but said it was “devastatingly late for thousands killed in Gaza”.

EU Staff for Peace last year called for a suspension of the EU-#Israel agreement, an end to member states’ arms exports to Israel and “concrete efforts” to support the work of the international criminal court and international court of justice. The group has now accused the institutions they work for of an “apparent double standard” by failing to condemn European leaders who discussed hosting Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister wanted for alleged war crimes by the #ICC.

There are protests everywhere, including here in #Belgium. On Sunday (11 May), tens of thousands of Belgians took to the streets in #Brussels to demand an end to the blockade and the war on #Gaza.

A week later, on 18 May, a hundred thousand #Dutch people held a march through The Hague with the same demands.

Geert Wilders wrote on X: "Today demo in Dhaag against Israel + for Hamas. Thousands of confused people draw a red line. I also draw a red line. Against terror and starving their own people by Hamas and for maximum destruction of their murderous infrastructure. And for Israel."
So the rest of the world sees this differently.

...For about a week now, we have been reading increasing criticism of Israeli and US policy in #US newspapers. #France, the #UK and #Canada are suddenly threatening concrete action if Israel continues the blockade and war. Belgian rectors took the lead with the joint demand to suspend the #European Association Agreement with Israel.

Many will feel that all this does not go far enough. Indeed, that resolution can be criticised.

The decision by the European Foreign Affairs Council to first "investigate" whether or not Israel is in compliance with human rights before it wants to review the association agreement is also more than cynical.

A senior #EU official has been lobbying against sanctions on Israel, using claims of antisemitism and arguments that critics say cross the line from political advocacy into disinformation. But what does the leaked diplomatic cable reveal?

Von Schnurbein warned that reviewing the agreement could be based on “rumours about #Jews,” and claimed that humanitarian actions in #Gaza were being ignored by the media and the #UN. She also described charity bake sales for Gaza within EU institutions as creating an atmosphere of "ambient antisemitism."

Her remarks directly contradicted findings from the EU’s own foreign service, the UN Human Rights Office, and the International Court of Justice, bodies that have documented starvation, large-scale civilian deaths, and possible war crimes in Gaza.

By framing calls for sanctions as antisemitic, she didn’t just misrepresent policy, she attempted to delegitimise criticism altogether. That’s a dangerous move, especially when it risks silencing evidence of war crimes and civilian suffering.

New report. Not a lot to say. EU actively support the slaughter of Palestinians.

"Meanwhile, In a significant diplomatic step, the EU is set to deepen its cooperation with Israel, and nine southern neighbors, including Syria and Libya. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar appeared unfazed when asked about reports the European Union is weighing up potential actions in response to allegations that Israel is breaching the EU-Israel Association Agreement, including suspending visa free travel and blocking imports from the Jewish settlements."

How European Ministers came from "review trade ties" to "keep a close watch on Israel’s compliance with a recent agreement to improve humanitarian aid access into Gaza."???

"Member states were presented with 10 options, including:

Full suspension of the agreement.
The EU suspension of its preferential trade and/or research pillars.
An arms embargo.
Sanctions on Israeli ministers.
Halting visa-free travel for Israeli citizens to the #EU.
Banning trade with Israeli #settlements.
However, none of the options gathered the necessary support during the meeting.

Reacting to the decision, Amnesty International’s secretary general Agnès Callamard said: “The EU’s refusal to suspend its agreement with #Israel is a cruel and unlawful betrayal of the European project and vision, predicated on upholding international law and fighting authoritarian practices, of the European Union’s own rules and of the human rights of Palestinians."

@Ryan @Mogleg in reality I believe they mostly afraid of Their power. The Western imperialist project. todon.nl/@prolrage/11307593962…

Since the beginning of the Al-Aqsa Flood, the main concern of Western governments has been to prevent the defeat of the #Zionist entity both militarily and politically. Yes, the primary concern is economic interests. But beyond that there is the Paradigm. The Western (and also the eastern) #capitalist hegemony does not want an example of poor human beings, oppressed for decades, and subjected to constant humiliation, standing up. If the #Palestinian #Resistance wins, it will mean that we, the oppressed, here in the West, can win too. This is one reason why we see small States (based on imperialist hegemony) taking a protective position for the Zionist entity. If this is defeated, the power of their governments will be challenged the next day. And if the Power of the small State Entities is challenged, it will be the turn of the driving forces of #imperialism.
So if the Palestinian Resistance wins, then we will have an example of how our empires could fall.
Finally it's a great opportunity for the oppressed people around the world to shout: Victory for the Palestinian Resistance!

About f*cking time! Fascist Russia should have been sanctioned TOTALLY in February 2022, if not already in 2014 when they annexed the Crimea, but all their European sycophants have stalled it so far...and still will, because the morally corrupt EU is infiltrated with pro-Russian politicians, probably bought and paid for by Putin!

it's always been like that. Europe has always been hostile to Russia and abhorringly racist. Either directly through colonialism, or indirectly through their corporations appropriating resources and labour in the Orient, Africa and south America.

The difference is that Israel is being a little bit too loud nowadays and that they are crumbling economically. The shortlived prosperity after ww2 and the liberal facade(caused mainly by that prosperity imo) in domestic policy have created an absolutely undeserved idea that somehow Europe is mature, just, progressive etc. And even these freedoms are being taken away from us now that there is no economic growth.

I am simplifying a little bit but the main power structures that enabled Europe to get where it's at today have never changed, so even though we truly have more freedoms on average than the rest of the world, it's because we don't affect the ruling class' foreign policy too much and because we have been systemtically oppressing either directly or indirectly the countries outside the West and stealing their wealth.

The Palestinian struggle for freedom and self determination is a perfect opportunity for all of us to realize this and demand a truly just world.

@villebooks "Nevertheless, known EU military exports to Isr can be directly connected to the genocide in Gaza. Israeli’s Merkava tanks, operating in Gaza since the ground invasion began in late October, are using engine components manufactured by German company MTU (a subsidiary of Rolls Royce), while Sa’ar corvettes, warships built by German company ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, have been active in the waters surrounding the besieged strip.
British company BAE Systems, in conjunction with German company Rheinmetall, manufactures M109 self-propelled howitzers which have been used to shell densely populated areas in Gaza. Amnesty International has found evidence that these artillery weapons also deployed white phosphorus munitions.
US-manufactured F-35 fighter jets used to carpet-bomb Gaza rely on European components with at least 25 percent of spare parts being exported directly to Israel from Europe.
Since October 7, the EU has granted 126 million euros ($136.5m) in funding to 130 research projects involving Israeli entities. Of these projects, two are providing a total of 640,000 euros ($693,000) to arms company Israel Aerospace Industries. In the years preceding October 7, 2023, Israeli entities received 503 million euros ($545m) under Horizon Europe (2021-2023)."

@villebooks (gr, machine translation)
"The second reason why the EU leadership will not allow the questioning of economic cooperation with Israel is because Israel is economically dependent on the EU. Although Israel is the EU's 25th largest trading partner, the EU is Israel's largest trading partner. In 2022 28.2% of its trade was related to the EU. Also, 32% of its imports come from the EU and 26% of its exports are directed to the EU. Its imports from the EU were machinery and transport equipment, chemicals and industrial goods, i.e. high value-added goods. This means that if Israel relies militarily on the US, it relies economically on the EU. Washington is Israel's military lung and Brussels is its economic lung. There are therefore increasing reasons for us to call for boycotts and economic sanctions against Israel!"

#Palestine / Israeli [defense] exports surge 13% to $14.8 billion despite #Gaza #genocide impact

Israel's defense exports jumped over 13% in 2024 to $14.8 billion, even as overall Israeli exports contracted 5.6%. The defense sector now represents nearly 25% of Israel's goods exports and approaching 10% of total exports.

Europe became the dominant market, accounting for 54% of defense exports (up from 35% in 2023) as countries increased military spending amid the #Ukraine #war. Air defense systems, missiles and rockets comprised 48% of exports, with Israeli technology proving effective against drone and missile threats.

However, industry sources report that images from #Gaza are complicating deal closures. #Spain recently froze a nearly $300 million Spike missile deal due to the situation in Gaza. Defense companies face parliamentary opposition in European countries and competitors using the Gaza war to discourage purchases of Israeli systems.

Sales to Abraham Accords countries reached $1.8 billion (12% of total exports), while Asian exports dropped from $6.3 billion to $3.4 billion due to major 2023 deals with India and Azerbaijan not repeating.
