Philippines: Three Soldiers Killed in Maoist Ambush
Three soldiers were killed and another wounded in an ambush by the NPA (New People’s Army) in Barangay Palapas, Ligao City, on Thursday, August 21 at around 6 a.m. The soldiers were part of a 16-man squad that was trying to surround a guerrilla unit stationed not far from the scene of the attack. The local NPA command monitored the movements of the military and deployed a team to carry out the ambush. The guerrillas were able to safely withdraw from the scene of the fighting.
