@IceCubeSoup I don't have a bank. I have a credit union. And when I go to an ATM the fee can change from 1 ATM to the other depending on what bank owns it.
@AzurusNova Obviously. Choose which ATM you use, you aren't powereless in this choice. Should be no fee if you go to an ATM that your financial institution operates.
@IceCubeSoup actually I do not have an option given that the credit union I'm with is out in California and I currently live out here in Nevada. Trying to go over the Tahoe region to find an ATM for Meriwest is not feasible for me.
I already know the other argument is just to go find another credit union. That's all well and great but I've been with this other credit union for the past decade and having to switch just because of this inconvenience is also another inconvenience

Information that was fact in the past has since transpired to be falsehood in the present. Some of today's facts will be the falsehoods of the future. A fact is very strong evidence that supports a particular assertion, interpretation or observation logically & consistent with the current schema of understanding.
Facts can be true & can be false but truth is always true. Many facts of the past were considered true by the people of the past, but have since transpired to be completely or partially false. We must always keep in mind the epistemological limitations of knowledge and the influence of time on information deemed factual.
I try not to trust any claims. I try to take all claims, compare them to facts I have high confidence in being highly accurate that sit within a mental schema of understanding built since childhood.
I try to weigh a claim's likely truth against a set of probabilistic, inter-referential assumptions that form that mental schema. I hold some ideas in a provisional state, sometimes for decades, until new information incorporated into that schema can provide a better determination of the probability of truth.
I also try to use deductive reasoning, lateral thinking, intuition, some inductive reasoning, general contemplation and some conceptual perspective-taking in combination with broad, multidisciplinary autodidacticism in order to increase as much as I can the probability of making as accurate judgements as possible.
I'm not ashamed to say that I have made mistakes, misjudgements and false assumptions in my life, sometimes to my not-insignificant detriment. I'm by no means infallible and I try to remain mindful of my own limitations and the limitations of what most people call knowledge.
I've experienced intuitive apprehensions that were very accurate when I didn't have sufficient understanding to expect them to be and other people, sometimes who had or claimed more understanding than me, were telling me I was wrong. My worst mistakes where when I ignored my intuitive sense and took actions I sensed to be wrong. Fortunately I am the only one who has been harmed by my foolishness as I try very hard not to make foolish decisions when the outcome is likely to cause harm to others.
What about you? How do you go about trying to understand the world? What is your process?
I probably used to hold formal learning on a higher pedestal, but I was homeschooled, so the curriculum itself, plus just being homeschooled, helps you become autodydactic.
I now am FAR more respectful of the autodydactic learner and learning. Mamy of the giants of the past were self-taught. Many also had God's grace, I believe. Something probably often lacking today.
Just consider the cellphone and how much time it absorbs. How many innovations and inventions and stories have not been devised because people think so little now. They may have brief thoughts, but no serious pondering. I deliberately remove my phone from my vicinity for this reason, and for less exposure to the EMF radiation.
Some things I know for certain and no amount of new evidence will alter my mind, because some things involve agendas to try to make you give up those beliefs.
Science I hold with a grain of salt. Much of what has been learned was false. Certain basics are old and we all know them, and they are true, but most science today is simply tomorrow's "ignorant belief," only later to be returned to as having actually been accurate. Atheists have gods and their gods are themselves and science, neither of which are worth their beliefs or worship.

Twilight Zone, great show, one of my favorite episodes was Nightmare at 20,000 feet, as it reminds me much of a flight I once had on a DC-10 from Spokane to Seattle, weather was about the same, no gremlin on the wing, but I was seated in about the same position and watched the engine rather violently swing back and fourth, and this was right after there had been several incidences of the engines detaching themselves from the wing under similar circumstances.
@Vee McMillen I enjoy flying just not on dodgy aircraft or with dodgy pilots. (My uncle was a farmer in Iowa and owned a crop duster airplane. He had a grass airstrip on the farm. There was a tree wind break at the end and the trees would brush the underside of his plane when he took off. I was never comfortable encountering trees in flight.)
I don't experience air sickness, even in that heavy turbulence, I don't fear heights, I fear that sudden stop when you crash. I've flown the exact same route on a Boeing 747 it was a completely different experience. There is some Wing flex on the 747 but not twist like the DC-10 so the engines don't swing like that. And the noise level, on the DC-10 when it takes off, a loud roar, on the 747 a gentle hum.
I haven't had the money to fly for a long time and even then really didn't but had a cousin who had severe arthritis that would flare up and then she would be unable to drive, so on both occasions she had driven here and then I drove her and her car back and then flew back.

I flew on a DC-3 a few times when I was a kid. I remember getting on that tilted aircraft, from the back, and having to basically climb up the aisle to your seat. Very weird. I bet it was very loud, but I don't remember.

On the one hand it protects me from possible unpleasantness, on the other hand it also limits my influence in the community. Consider the need for certain political groups to operate covertly. On the one hand, this is the only option they have, but on the other hand, it also limits their influence. This means that these groups must then act as avangarde and run the risk of becoming self-righteous. Look however times here with Diaspora. Only in order not to have to explain themselves senselessly here or to be defamed out of fear, many people hold back. On the other hand, if they were to express themselves in a certain way, they would possibly be blocked or shadowed. What I wanted to make clear with my first comment is the fact that if people already hold back out of fear of consequences for what they say, then the worst and most effective form of censorship has already won.

So, what does a veteran, after flying Blackhawks in the Iraq War do when he comes home to Texas? He pilots Life Flight helicopters for one of the hospitals, buys a home with his wife on the Historic Register in the Azalea District and builds his own airplane in his spare time. 😁
There are some great patriots in this country. A high school friend (who married my childhood best friend) was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He won awards for flying a team out safely under fire even though he was hit himself. He later became a nuclear scientist and a helicopter pilot for the Florida State Police when they searched out and raided drug dealers. I'm proud to know him.
I'm not sure that I agree with his choice of landing gear, not just from a strength and shock absorbing capacity issue but also from a getting stuck in pot holes and ruts if he's going to be landing on grass airstrips, but otherwise very nice.
