I have never once seen a fedi drama thread with any guise of reasonability. 100% of the time it's someone flying off the handle over something meaningless and then inventing a whole bunch of evidence of abuse. The supposed abuser is *always* pure irredeemable evil. They're always a racist and an abuser. Never once a hint of doubt or consideration.

In a bassplayer forum I found a thread about neckdive and how to get the bass in a vertical position. Some said Bill Wyman put the strap-button on the lower horn. But this only lifts the neck a few centimeters and he still has to hold it up with the left hand all the time, even more so as the bass will tilt over away from him with the low fix point. And then someone said he does exactly this, too. He didn't mention Renft, probably doesn't even know him, but also said he steps into the strap, keeping it between his legs and that's the best way to do it. Wow.

I like to play my bariton very vertical sometimes, but not all the time, and, maybe, we have a little advantage for doing this on single-cut instruments like I have: Put the strap button on the backside, like you have on an SG for example. Not sure if it's mechanically possible to put it on the backside of a horn though. But that's where the single-cut shape is an advantage, maybe. That way you get the button up enough to prevent too much neckdive and there it works like a pivot-point. You can easily rotate the instrument around it from more vertical to more horizontal while playing.

But that's so funny and interesting, not just how it's been the same questions over decades, but also how these isolated GDR-rockers invented solutions that the west-rockers only found much later. Just like the thing with the snap hook.

Smash - Wetransfer alternative - how to send files

Customers sending material for the typesetting of a newspaper or the printing of a newspaper can support themselves with services such as WeTransfer. In this tutorial, we will show you how to transfer files easily and efficiently - for free and without creating an account - using the Smash service.

The Smash service, available at fromsmash.com at the moment (December 2024), is a free service in the standard version. How does it differ from the pro version? The standard version allows you to upload a maximum of 2 GB of files on the spot (files weighing more than 2 gigabytes have to wait in a queue to be uploaded), uploaded files are stored for 7 days, which means that after 7 days they will disappear. You can read more about the services on the company's website: fromsmash.com/pricing.

The changing descriptions instruct us about two functions that Smash supports when uploading files (e.g. to a newspaper printer ):

a short press on the S icon will allow us to post a single file
a long press on the icon will allow us to post the contents of an entire folder.
The second function in particular is worth bearing in mind.

So one by one: Depending on the need, click on the icon either short or long. Select the files (or folder) you are interested in, confirm, and the files are transferred.

On the left you will see the list of added files, the red plus will allow you to add more files.

On the right there are a couple of columns to fill in:

your e-mail - here you enter your e-mail address
Your contacts' emails - this is where you enter OUR email address (it will be given in the correspondence)
Subject - the title, preferably the name of the newspaper.
Message - you can add a few words of your own, but we recommend that you do not fill in this field and send us your comments on the composition/printing of the newspaper, either by e-mail or as a text file included in the file package.
‘Expires on’ - is information about the date after which the files will be removed from the server. Please note that the date is given according to the US standard, i.e. month, day, year.
Send - and when everything is ready, we click on Send to have the files and content sent to us.

However, that is not all. Once the files have been uploaded, a page like this will appear to us:

This is the page that expects a code. And where does the code come from? The code should arrive at your e-mail address after a while. The purpose of this step is to verify your address and thus ensure that the sender's address is correct. Once you have confirmed the code, the following page will appear:

This page is a summary, so to speak, of the content we have written. And when everything has been uploaded correctly, you will see the graphic below:

That's it! The files have been transferred. By clicking on View transfer you can preview the content, which looks like this:
