with a US-China embargo, China won't be accumulating as much USD, so has less need to trade it for interest paying bonds. They have a huge pile of bonds to sell if they require cash. Lots of downward pressure on USD, which will make importing anything into the US even more expensive and push up inflation. But inflation won't be a problem over the background of a total collapse in trade and govt spending.

Good luck down there!

Documenting Occupation: Basel Adra’s Powerful Testimony at the UN

Basel Adra, co-director of the Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land, shares his lifelong commitment to documenting the brutal realities of life under occupation. Starting as a teenager, he captured firsthand the violence inflicted on his village Masafer Yatta by settlers and the Israeli military—from home demolitions by bulldozers to brutal assaults on community members. Despite international recognition for his work, Adra reveals that the cycle of violence, displacement, and injustice continues unabated, with daily attacks that leave Palestinian communities in constant fear.

Speaking at the UN Palestinian Rights Committee on 3 April 2025, Adra recounted harrowing personal and communal experiences, including the attack on his cousin, which exemplifies the systemic oppression faced by Palestinians. He highlighted that these incidents are not isolated but part of a broader strategy to displace Palestinians and seize their land, underlining the complicity of state authorities in facilitating such actions. Adra’s testimony is both a call to action and a plea for global accountability in the fight for Palestinian rights and dignity.

Members of Trump’s inner circle have begun to openly feud as the reciprocal tariffs prompt mixed reactions on the world stage. At the core of the division is messaging, namely whether to present the tariffs as a long-term revenue raiser or as part of a negotiating tactic to secure more favorable trade deals with other nations.

1970 MUSTANG MACH 1 351C 4BBL
This is sort of a barn find. The original owner was my brother in-law. He bought it new in 1970. For whatever reason he parked it in a barn in 1986. I married his sister in 1988. I never knew this car existed. He passed away and everything went to his mother. Since I have always been a mustang nut the family decided I would get the car. That was when I first even heard about it. My son and I went out to the barn and started digging it out. What we found was shocking. The car was in very good shape. I offered to pay my mother in-law but she would only except $10. So I paid her the $10. Anyways here are pictures from when we first uncovered it and the finished project.

Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley and Senator Ron Johnson published new emails from FBI whistleblowers showing that President Joe Biden’s then-Deputy White House Counsel Jonathan Su personally assisted the FBI in securing President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence’s cell phones to assist the nascent “Arctic Frost” investigation over January 6.

"On Tuesday, new court documents were released that reveal would-be Trump assassin Ryan Routh was in talks to purchase a Stinger Missile to take out Trump here in the US.

A Stinger missile reportedly costs from $119,000 to $120,000.

A Stinger missile costs anywhere from $50,000 to $80,000 on the black market.

So, where did Ryan Routh get all of his funding?

The Gateway Pundit reported that the court documents reveal that Routh was communicating with someone he “believed to be a Ukrainian with access to military weapons.”

The Gateway Pundit questioned at the time, “It sounds like Routh was holding talks with a federal operative?”

And, Routh and his associate were talking about assassinating Trump in July 2024 in Pennsylvania!...

So, who was running Ryan Routh?

And why was he not arrested in July if he was plotting to kill the former president in Pennsylvania and was attempting to purchase an illegal Stinger missile?

Holy smokes!

On Tuesday night, former CIA officer and whistleblower John Kiriakou answered these questions on Jesse Watters Primetime, and it was just as many of us suspected.

The feds were likely involved with Routh for many months. But they DID NOT stop him from planting himself in the bushes at a Trump Palm Beach course where he waited to kill the president.

The FBI needs to come clean...

Why are we funding an organization that was working with the would-be assassin of President Trump.

I like Rand Paul, but he's wrong here. He isn't looking at the big picture and using individual transaction analogies that don't work when scaled up. Trade deficits in and of themselves, in moderation, are not a big deal, but, being giving free access to your market, and not getting it in return can be and has been ruinious.
They way it is now only benefits him and those like him, but the cost of unfair competition is borne by the working class. he seems blind to this.

If you're new to these definitional difficulties, there are many prominent and non-equivalent definitions of antisemitism, and the debates about them can be bitter.

I'm a Harvard employee of Jewish descent who lost family in the Holocaust, and I'm not happy with the recent decision.

The IHRA definition (2016) is not careful to distinguish criticism of #Jews from criticism of #Israel. On the contrary, most of its 11 examples of antisemitism deliberately mix the two.

"sex segregation" actually makes more sense at amateur levels and less so more elite you get, as other factors with smaller appearance frequency become more relevant like "first-place olympic runner in this event always comes from certain little population in east africa" or "winner in swimming always had this set of rare mutations" kinda stuff. and high level sports a lot of the "sex difference" factor is actually prescriptive rather than descriptive because e.g. force disqualifying women who aren't "womanly" enough or forcing them use antiandrogens or

it's crude rubric should be used just for keeping some people from hurting other people, and even that doesn't apply half sports at amateur levels, stuff that's not like wrestling or meriken football. should be adaptable non-rigid rule for when "weird" people do appear, willing to accomodate

in reply to Trash Panda

re: transphobia, misogyny

it makes less sense at professional levels, because "gender" is a very crude heuristic for demographic selection, and elite sports are drawing from a much broader range of people and so small demographics like "people of particular arm length in ratio with particular leg length" become significant to the point of dominating / being a better way to break your sport up into "fairness" classes

to make gender be a useful demographic at elite levels you need to specify what gender means and then construct it, by e.g. forcing people to take anti-androgens or disqualifying the "outlier" people who show up much more often

it makes more sense at amateur levels only because it's an easy way to split up teams in a way that can reduce the injury rate etc, for like wrestling. should not be taken as an ironclad rule though and instead accommodate the outliers and weird people who still show up now and then, because amateur sports are just having fun and exercise, not money and fame

re: transphobia, misogyny

yeh, the trouble of "person born with these chromosomes" is 1. people aren't "born with chromosomes", to begin with, at least not in the way they mean, 2. there are practically-uncountable (as in finite, but can't be counted in practice) many ways to mutate any given human genome of whatever "chromosomal layout" to produce any given form of woman, man, or something-else, and 3. a human genome is anyways only a cd's worth of information, most of which is garbage, and variations in methylation and other epigenetic changes, cellular structure itself, and the human's developmental environment can also produce any sort of woman, man, or something-else starting with most any human genome without any mutations at all

and this all becomes very apparent at an elite sports level where they're actually checked for and advantageous outliers accumulate. people want to be able to ignore natural variety of human experience, but they can't, and so try instead to legislate it out of existence
