EZLN Kicks off Rebel and RevelArte Gathering in the Highlands of Chiapas
From the rebellious heart of the Mexican southeast, art comes to life Nearly 3 thousand people gathered at the Caracol VII Jacinto Canek in Winikton, convened not for the sake of fashion or spectacle, but for the word and dignity that they walk. Thirty-one years after the Zapatista uprising, the EZLN reminds us once again that rebellion has not been extinguished, that organized hope flourishes in the corners of rebel territory.
Since Sunday afternoon, the Zapatista support bases began to arrive, militiamen, militias, the Clandestine Revolutionary Indigenous Clandestine Committee, along with artists and artisans from the countryside and the city. The collective effort of those who resist in silence and build in community made this meeting space possible: Rebel y Revel, a forum where art ceases to be merchandise and becomes, once again, a seed.
This meeting is not just an exhibition. It is a protest against art domesticated by capital, that which adorns showcases but does not bother the powers that be. As Subcomandante Insurgente Moisés said:
“We make art for life. For the countryside and for the city. We do not make capitalist art, which is one of death. This is a meeting where the woman from the city, the man from the countryside, the woman from the countryside and the man from the city come together. We come to share what we are. All actual online accounts should be created with, and only accessed with, Tor. Tuta, Proton Mail, Internet Archive, and Diaspora are all quite Tor-friendly.
Petraeus and Broadwell used fake names to create free webmail accounts exchanging messages without encryption tools. They would share an email account, with one saving a message in the drafts folder and the other deleting it after reading it.
Didn't work out well for them.
Storing small backups online is easy. Just send email with encrypted attachments to and from your own email accounts. Encrypt with the public key of a key pair that has never been uploaded to a keyserver or used for any communications. There's no reason not to use 4096-bit keys.
It's a good idea to keep an up-to-date Tails drive with backups of some important files. Flash drives are easy to conceal. If the secret police come and take all your stuff, there should be nothing that isn't encrypted. If you can ever get free and get your Tails drive, you can get access to your online accounts.
Seriously though? If the secret police can't get into your encrypted hard drive, do you really think they'll say 'oh well' and give up? You'd better have a high pain tolerance!

The problem with Iraq is that they were the exact opposite of terrorist or even an enemy. The deputy leader, Tariq Aziz, was a christian so hardly a Muslim extremist government. Iraq was actively fighting a war against Iran on behalf of the US prior to the invasion and the US was supplying Iraq with weapons for that. If you think back to the time, in all the photos of Hussien after the start of the war there were lots of British AIr Force behind him. This was because the British had the contract to provide defence for Iraq and the RAF ran the Iraq Air Force. So Britain backed the invasion of a country they were contracted to defend. A country that was armed by the US. Hussein wanted to sell oil to Europe in Euros which the US saw as a threat to the US economy. I am not going to continue but there is no defence for what the US did and that others assisted does not make it any better, it simply makes other's complicit.
Regarding WWII, it was 4 days after Pearl Harbour that Germany declared war on the US and dragged them grudgingly into the conflict. Having enough problems of their own the US had no need to get involved in a conflict that they had made a point of keeping out of especially now they had a war of their own to focus on. Germany wanted to side with Japan but Japan was not really interested. It is also worth mentioning that far from stopping any spread the US became great allies of the Soviets who attacked Poland with Germany thereby starting WWII and were equally socialist. It was Italy that was faschist not Germany. Nazi is an abreviation of National Socialism.

this was a *big* problem on the underground rave scene in my old region (made worse by the copious amounts of drugs consumed and that the abusers often had access to resources such as drugs, cars/vans and sound equipment so were able to get deep into the scene).
Its got marginally better these days but only because folk have been mostly forced straightedge (also they got older and many have kids so are worried about their safety)
@vfrmedia yeah sadly this is the case with a lot of music scenes. its a reflection of the hegemonic culture. sexism on the macro level reflects on the micro level, even within subcultures who ostensibly refute such things. as an enthusiastic pothead, i would like to think people can get fucked up and not treat others disrespectfully, but sadly that seems to often times not be the case.
my experience was drugs simply amplified both the good and bad aspects of people (in the same way that if you feed poor signals into your amplifier it will sound rough in the loudspeakers), but what saddened me was it seems it was only *after* the cops/govt clamped down on all the drugs use and passed new laws that folk took a look at themselves and realised WTF was happening on the scene (so the prohibitionists won a battle even if the war is pointless)
just 10 years ago we had the centrist neoliberal governments almost turning a blind eye to partydrugs (especially new psychoactive substances) but the "drug-bros" fucked things up by not self-regulating so it all got locked down hard (particularly new DUI laws which can get folks licence suspended 1+ years even if unimpaired but with metabolites in their blood, so anyone who drives now has to go straightedge - but there's still heavy levels of alcohol use on the scene..)

its 1 year for first offence, 3 years for any repeated incident, a fine (proportional to income) and *11 years* higher insurance premiums. Cops also are crafty and pick people off mid week when they may be sleep deprived..
It partly fixed the problem - but has brought folk back to alcohol (you can buy an alcotester which works like a vape in reverse and that shows quite accurately if you are clear to drive - no such harm reduction device yet exists for other substances)

Britain is /far/ more car-dependent than it should be so getting a licence suspended is a big life setback (as are the raised insurance premiums and many insurers who will refuse to quote). So this now confines a lot of partydrugs use to folk in cities with good public transport / walking / cycling (which means there are still OD's and health problems) and others just get a taxi to venues and get boozed up (with accompanying risks of violence and harrassment)
@vfrmedia oh interesting. i would say the same regarding the necessity of owning a vehicle here in the states, but thats funny bc i was under the impression (and i think most americans are) that the UK is more like the rest of the europe e.g. personal vehicle not needed.
you can get away without a car in London, SE England (I did not have one when I lived there), other places in Northern England like Manchester/Leeds/Sheffield and also more populated areas of Scotland, but outside these a car is often required (especially for work, many jobs still require in person attendance and there's more work in fields like construction/maintenance than office jobs these days (lots of those jobs got offshored)
