I have mixed feelings about what I’m calling “AI guilt.” On one hand I see incredible accessibility applications, but also the corrosive side of the technology.

I’m not sure if I’m down with blaming end users. I can see where people are coming from, but anyone driving a car or using a smartphone or a computer or literal sausage is “pretending not to know how the sausage is made” so I don’t think it’s as simple as “use AI === bad.” That’s not a consistent, compelling argument to me.

def not a consistent argument. its much like most technologies.
its potential for good and bad are both limitless. unfortunately, the tech is in the hands of corpos and thus will necessarily be used (mostly) towards driving their bottomline... which is usually in bad ways.
even the negative impacts for the environment... thats only bc of scale and the amount slop thats being produced with it. if we have small scale AI, owned and controlled by the people, that wouldnt necessarily be a bad thing. especially especially its potential in helping and aiding with accessibility.

I miss the build up of walking past all the knobbly old sakura trees in the neighborhood, week after week, waiting for the buds to open. I miss eagerly packing a picnic blanket then taking off early from work to hanami with friends and coworkers. I miss how sakura was an excuse to walk with friends along the river at night. Three Alleged Guerrillas Killed Battling Security Forces In Bijapur District


Three individuals police claim to be cadres of CPI (Maoist) were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in the Indravati region of Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Saturday, a police official announced to the press today.

According to the police official, the skirmish began when a joint team of security personnel, comprising jawans from the CRPF, Commando Battalion for Resolute Action, Special Task Force (STF) and District Reserve Guard (DRG), acting on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of Maoists along the forested terrain on the far side of Indravati river in Bhairamgarh, was out on an anti-Maoist combing operation.

In his report, the police official declared that at around 9am an encounter broke out between a squad of persons police claim were Maoists and the security forces, adding that the bodies of three alleged Maoists and a cache of weapons and explosives were recovered from the spot.

In his statement to the press, the police official said that the bodies recovered at the site of the gun battle are yet to be identified, and that there has been no report of any security personnel sustaining injuries in the firefight.

The police official concluded his remarks by stating that the encounter is still reported to be underway with intermittent firing continuing, and that more details about the skirmish are awaited.

According to police sources, Bijapur is among the seven most Maoist-affected districts in Bastar zone, and is cited by police as an epicenter of the Maoists in southern Chhattisgarh state.

In summary, Texas is at a crossroads. The state's free market electricity system has led to impressive renewable energy growth, but conservative legislators are now considering bills that could hinder this progress. To ensure continued economic growth and grid reliability, Texas needs to focus on energy efficiency, demand response, and the integration of distributed resources. This will require visionary leadership and a commitment to creating a market mechanism that values these resources for their unique contributions to the grid.

Chemicals found in common food packaging plastics like cling film and snack pouches may interfere with the body’s natural 24-hour sleep-wake cycle, increasing the risk of sleep disorders, diabetes, immune problems and even cancer, new research shows.

Published this month in Environment International, the study from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology is the first to show that everyday polyurethane (PUR) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastics contain compounds that can disrupt the body’s internal clock (circadian rhythm) by quickly interfering with a specific cell signal (A1R) linked to sleep and light.

Unlike previous research that focused on slow, hormone-related effects, this study reveals a faster, direct impact on key “clock genes” through a different kind of biological pathway. That means plastic chemicals may contribute to serious health problems such as diabetes or cancers in more ways than scientists know, the researchers say.
