@ribbit @David To buy and use a firearm in Canada, you need a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL), firearms are typically classified as non-restricted, restricted, and prohibited, and it's effectively impossible to get a prohibited license as an individual. Classification of firearms is a fucking mess right now but typically non-restricted consist of long guns, restricted are generally short semi-automatics and handguns, and prohibited are fully-automatics and pretty much whatever the government thinks is scary. To get a PAL, you first have to take the Canadian Firearms Safety Course, which allows you to apply for a PAL with access to non-restricted firearms, the next step up is the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course which would allow you to apply for a restricted designation on your PAL. You do not necessarily need a PAL to fire or handle guns, just that someone with a PAL has to be near you and be able to take control of the firearm whenever necessary.

When COVID first came on the scene, I wasn't afraid it would kill me, I was afraid it would cripple me. And that's what it did.* I am living the timeline I feared.
