Falls ihr euch fragt, warum immer mehr Bull-Shit-Jobs entstehen und die sinnlose ja sogar schädliche #Bürokratie immer weiter zunimmt, dann hat Dirk hier die kurze aber zutreffende Antwort:

This graph from Krugman’s latest is basically the “Genesis of the Daleks” theory of politics: a common enemy unites disparate groups.

Note that conservative poll numbers declined on a moderate amount in response to Trump. The sudden spike in Liberal support came at the expense of •all• the other parties.

Like it or not, this is what defeats fascists: people of even bitterly opposed political ideologies forming a united front.

I will at this time repeat my analogy that AI vendors have convinced a whole bunch of executives / managers that cardboard toilets are ready for prime time, and now or soon — perhaps after a few rounds of hype-driven plumber layoffs — there’s not only extra work for plumbers, but also extra work for people who can repair damage to ceilings and floors.

in reply to Paul Cantrell

In this analogy, the sewage-stained ceiling and floors are:

- lost institutional knowledge
- damaged morale
- garbled / poisoned internal data
- lost customer trust, which is bitterly difficult to regain
- code that must be drastically rewritten, maybe from scratch
- etc

…and if the BS goes on long enough:

- loss of skill development; a clog in the professional pipelines that gradually grow juniors into experts
- erosion of the very human-made training data that LLMs rely upon

Color Theory: Boosting Conversions with Strategic Hues

Colors don’t just beautify—they shape emotions, drive actions, and keep users engaged. For businesses eyeing more conversions, choosing the right palette blends creativity with psychology. Here’s how to make it happen.

Ever landed on a website and felt a sudden urge to click “add to cart” or “join now”? That’s color casting its spell. Colors don’t just beautify—they shape emotions, drive actions, and keep users engaged. For businesses eyeing more conversions, choosing the right palette blends creativity with psychology. Here’s how to make it happen.

Color Theory Explained

Color theory is your guide to crafting hues that captivate. It’s the foundation for visuals that leave a mark. The essentials:

  • Primary colors (red, blue, yellow) are your starting point.
  • Secondary colors (green, orange, purple) blend those primaries.
  • Complementary colors (like orange and blue) sit opposite on the color wheel, ideal for sharp contrast.

But don’t play it too safe. Stellar web design services bend these basics to fit a brand’s essence. A trendy startup might pair electric purple with black, while a heritage brand opts for muted gold and navy. The key is mixing classic rules with modern trends, like bold gradients or clean single-color schemes.

The Power of Color Psychology

Colors hit you fast. Red screams “act now!”—think flash sales. Blue radiates trust, a favorite for corporate brands. Green signals growth or eco-friendliness. But context changes the game.

Yellow’s perfect for a toy brand’s CTA but feels wrong for a luxury spa, where soft ivory or deep emerald shines. Your audience and product steer the choice. This is where web design services stand out, nailing the nuance. Data shows 90% of snap judgments about products are color-driven, so picking hues that resonate is critical.

A talented website designer starts with the goal: What action do we want? Then they choose shades that guide users subtly. Think bright reds and oranges for fast-food apps to spark hunger, or calming blues and greens for meditation platforms to feel serene.

Palettes That Convert

Want users clicking like it’s a contest? Your palette needs harmony and intent. Try this:

  • 60% main color: Your brand’s defining hue.
  • 30% secondary shade: Adds balance (like white with slate grey).
  • 10% accent color: For buttons or highlights—vivid but tasteful.

Tools like Coolors or Adobe Color simplify the process, but human intuition elevates it. AI can suggest trendy combos, but it lacks the audience insight a pro website designer brings.

Contrast is a must. Light text on a pale background? A strain to read. WebAIM’s Contrast Checker keeps things clear. Accessibility matters—4% of people have color vision issues, so pair similar hues with textures (like waves versus dots) in visuals like graphs.

Real-World Impact

Check these out:

  • Retail: H&M’s red buttons pop against clean white, nudging purchases.
  • Wellness: Soothing greens and soft beiges in yoga apps feel calming.
  • Tech: Dark themes with neon green accents scream “next-gen.”

Web design services lean on data. A/B testing showed a button color swap from green to yellow boosted conversions by 19%. Small tweaks, big results.

The Human Advantage

Design tools promise “ideal” palettes, but great color choices tell a story. A website designer digs into your brand’s heart, crafting visuals that connect. AI might churn out a mockup, but humans add the soul.

Pros still use tech smartly. Plugins flag low-contrast issues; others analyze competitor hues for fresh angles. Combine tech’s speed with human spark, and you’re unstoppable. Designers often pitch multiple palette options, linking each to your mission before finalizing.

Final Takeaway

Skip the dull templates. Smart color choices turn scrollers into buyers. Hire web designer Singapore or, if DIY-ing, keep it sharp: High contrast, focused palettes, and hues that stir the right feelings.

Your site’s colors aren’t just pretty—they’re your silent closer. Let them work.

And we're back!

Sweet jeezus that was rough. However things were made infinitely more difficulty by a self-inflicted goof on my part (that's what I get for not trusting the output the AI gave me and remarkably it wasn't ChatGPT but Google Gemini. I had the wrong Ubuntu "release" (jammy instead of noble) in my apt sources). No wonder I couldn't reinstall anything!

Any how.

All fixed. But my networking might be a bit screwed up now since I had to set everything up manually in root's CLI.

And I figured out what "desktop environment" that took over my Cinnamon desktop: something called "mutter" whatever the fuck that was.

I'm actually not 100% sure mutter isn't used by cinnamon as well, since it's built on top of GNOME (tech), but that sounds rough alright. Nothing a reinstall and a #backup recovery doesn't fix though, I'm guessing. That's why I love #linux , even if you mess it up real bad you're not at the end of the world as one would be with other OS's

On the eve of a major life change, a sign emerges.

8 years ago I upended my life in Pittsburgh to pursue something new in Chicago. Risked it all, it paid off.

Fast forward to now. Tomorrow I upend my Chicago life and move to Chattanooga to live off investments but also trade my own $ for my own $.

It’s my last night here, and I decided to drop by my local bar where I’m a regular. Randomly, Pittsburgh vs Chicago baseball is on the TV.

If that’s not a sign, I don’t know what is.

I've got news for any company trying to keep minors away from erotica .... They've been writing smut since the dawn of time.

Hell, Otto Frank had to censor his daughter's praised diary because of all the smut she wrote down.

I got me a cute little portable CO2 monitor, as part of my "I am immunocompromised and don't want to get sick 8 weeks at a time from 'minor' illnesses that don't even give other people symptoms" lifestyle. In addition to wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces, thus making me look like an idiot and/or crazy person (or "shitlib" as @polarisera would say), this little device will tell me when to run away from poorly ventilated/overly exhaled-in rooms.

It displayed 789 when I first brought it into my office, so I opened a window and turned on the ceiling fan and now it's down to 567. Fun!

"They found that when carbon dioxide levels rose independently, arsenic levels in the rice kernels barely increased. When measuring the arsenic concentrations with an increase in temperature, arsenic levels rose noticeably higher. However, when heat and extra carbon dioxide were combined, the arsenic levels surged far more than either factor alone, which the authors called a 'synergistic increase.'"

America has the world by the “balls!” The idea that we are NOT in the driver’s seat with Trump’s tariffs is laughable. Also, he’s going to get us out of our role as Europe’s "perennial protector.” This pack of crooks have been living off of America since the end of WWII!

The claim that the CIA has "casually released documents" stating that we live in an energy hologram and that astral projection is real is a mix of popular conspiracy theories and misinterpretations of declassified documents. While the CIA has indeed declassified many documents related to paranormal research, remote viewing, and other unconventional topics, the interpretation that this confirms we live in a hologram or that astral projection is scientifically proven is not supported by mainstream science.

### What the CIA Actually Released

1. **Remote Viewing and the Stargate Project**
The CIA funded and declassified documents related to the **Stargate Project**, a program that explored **remote viewing**-the claimed ability to perceive distant or unseen targets using extrasensory perception (ESP). These documents are available publicly and show the agency's interest in psychic phenomena during the Cold War. However, the results were inconclusive and often criticized for lack of scientific rigor.

2. **No Official Confirmation of "Energy Hologram" Reality**
The idea that reality is a hologram comes from theoretical physics concepts like the **holographic principle**, which is a complex and speculative theory about the nature of the universe. This concept is not something the CIA has officially endorsed or confirmed.

3. **Astral Projection**
Astral projection is a metaphysical concept where a person's consciousness is said to travel outside their physical body. While it has been studied in parapsychology and mentioned in some documents related to psychic research, it remains a subjective experience without scientific consensus or empirical proof.

### Reliable Sources and References

- **CIA's FOIA Reading Room**: You can explore declassified documents related to psychic research here:
[cia.gov/readingroom/](cia.gov/readingroom/)

- **Stargate Project Documents**:
[cia.gov/readingroom/document/c…](cia.gov/readingroom/document/c…)

- **Skeptical Analysis**:
The James Randi Educational Foundation and other skeptical organizations have analyzed claims about remote viewing and astral projection extensively.

### Summary

- The CIA has declassified documents on psychic phenomena and remote viewing but has not confirmed that reality is an energy hologram or that astral projection is objectively real.
- These topics remain speculative, with no scientific consensus.
- If you want to read the original documents, the CIA’s FOIA Reading Room is the best place to start.

If you want, I can help you find specific documents or summarize key findings from the Stargate Project or related research.

Never let a #Linux user tell you that Linux is easier or better than #Windows.

Rebooted my workstation and went to login and was presented with a completely new and foreign desktop environment. One I have never seen before, didn't know how to navigate, and have no idea where it came from or how it got installed.

Worse yet my previous desktop environment is missing from the Gnome/ Cinnamon login window.

So now I'm completely reinstalling the cinnamon desktop environment completely from scratch.

Frustrating as hell.

Say what you want about Windows or Mac but at least I never had to worry about my entire computer's user interface going tits up on me.

I bought an old System 80 from the vintage computer market (it’s a clone of the TRS-80 model 1 that was popular in the antipodes it its day). Like many of these machines it had been lovingly hobbyist-upgraded. This one had a second bank of RAM chips piggybacked atop the factory chips, with chip select lines free-form routed above the mainboard in tinned copper wire; this was a common mod, just like today computers from the store were near-criminally under resourced with RAM. Less typical was the pentagonal arrangement of inductor coils, the copper coils apparently connected with silver (not tin, actual Argentum) wire. Not clear what this mod does, let’s see if she boots.
