Israel’s Backers Keep Whining That They’re Losing Control Of The Narrative
Amnesty International is now calling Israel’s mass atrocity in Gaza “a live-streamed #genocide” due to the way this nightmare is unfolding right in front of us on the screens of our devices around the world, and public support for Israel is plummeting in the United States.
Zionists are losing control of the narrative, and they know it. And they are not taking it well.
During a speech at a summit hosted by the #Jewish News Syndicate earlier this week, former US senator Norm #Coleman said that Jews are “the masters of the universe” and should use their power in Silicon Valley to control online information in order to win a “digital war”.
Coleman, who is Jewish, made the following remarks on Monday:
“A majority of Gen Z have an unfavorable impression of Israel. And, my friends, I think the reason for that is that we’re losing the digital war. They’re getting their information from TikTok… and we’re losing that war.
“And when you think about it, the masters of the universe are Jews! We’ve got Altman at OpenAI, we’ve got [ #Facebook founder Mark] #Zuckerberg, we’ve got [ #Google founder] Sergey #Brin, we’ve got a group across the board. Jan Koum, y’know, founded WhatsApp. It’s us.
“And we have to figure out a way to win the digital battle. We’ve got to get our digital sneakers on, so that the truth can prevail over the lies. And when we do that, the future of Israel will be stronger because a majority of all Americans will support Israel. We’ll make that happen, we have to make it happen.”
If any anti-Zionist with a public profile had said #Jews control #SiliconValley and use it to influence public opinion for the benefit of Israel, they’d be forcefully denounced by the entire western political-media class as a rabid antisemite. But a Jewish politician saying Jews must use their control over Silicon Valley to influence public opinion about Israel receives no attention from that same political-media class.

In February, US Senator Lindsey #Graham told the press at an event in Tel Aviv that in the Arab world “Israel has won the war on the ground, but they’ve lost it on television,” lamenting that “all they see is morning, noon and night attacks on the Palestinian people.”

In a talk at the #McCain Institute last year, then-Senator Mitt #Romney told then-Secretary of State Antony #Blinken that Congress supports banning #TikTok because it shares information that turns people’s opinions against #Israel, saying such information has a “very, very challenging effect on the narrative.”
After bemoaning Israel’s lack of success at “PR” regarding its #Gaza assault, Romney just came right out and said that this was “why there was such overwhelming support for us to shut down potentially TikTok or other entities of that nature” — with “us” meaning himself and his fellow lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
“How this narrative has evolved, yeah, it’s a great question,” Blinken responded, saying that at the beginning of his career in Washington everyone was getting their information from television and physical newspapers like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post.
“Now, of course, we are on an intravenous feed of information with new impulses, inputs every millisecond,” Blinken continued. “And of course, the way this has played out on social media has dominated the narrative. And you have a social media ecosystem environment in which context, history, facts get lost, and the emotion, the impact of images dominates. And we can’t — we can’t discount that, but I think it also has a very, very, very challenging effect on the narrative.”
Notice how he said the word “narrative” three times? That’s how empire managers talk to each other, because that’s how they think about everything. Everything is about narrative control. It doesn’t matter what happens as long as you can control how people think about what happens.
During the university protests last year, #Palantir CEO Alex #Karp came right out and said that if those on the side of the protesters win the debate on this issue, the west will lose the ability to wage wars.
“We kind of just think these things that are happening, across college campuses especially, are like a sideshow — no, they are the show,” Karp said during his rant. “Because if we lose the intellectual debate, you will not be able to deploy any army in the west, ever.”
In an audio recording published by the Tehran Times in 2023, Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt is heard saying “We really have a TikTok problem” and calling for more aggressive online narrative operations to control public opinion about Israel among young people.

Israel’s backers are losing control of the narrative because there’s only so much that PR spin can do to convince people they’re not seeing what’s right in front of their eyes. If you’re strangling someone right in front of me there are no words you can say to me to convince me I’m not seeing someone being strangled, no matter how skillful you are at #manipulation.
Actions speak louder than words. Talk is cheap. A picture is worth a thousand words. These aphorisms exist for a reason. Past a certain point there is only so much that mountains of verbiage can accomplish when people are seeing history’s first live-streamed genocide playing out right before their eyes.

It’s time for another poetry feature! It’s been a while since the last time we did one of these, so we’d like to start by drawing some attention to the work done in previous years.

People are surprisingly resourceful. I remember when 1k USD smartphones came out and could not fathom there would be much a market for it and there we are. Of course we don't know how well the Switch 2 will do, but it's not in the outlandish pricing territory
I mean, possibly, but I haven't found any game worth spending that much money for a Switch 2, new MicroSD Express cards, and $80+ for a game. And no, I'd rather play Forza Horizon 5 than Mario Kart at $80.
And keep in mind that families used to buy Nintendo consoles. There's no way many of them be able to justify that; gamers who want better performance and a more open ecosystem have the Steam Deck OLED or the PC handheld market.
They continued to get greedier and greedier, but what they did to the fans of a Nintendo streamer who tragically committed suicide was absolutely despicable.
Add this to their continued middle fingers to fans, game developers and publishers, and especially game preservation, and I have zero desire to support them and much desire to see them fail.
Back in 2017, there was no real Switch competition. That's not the case in 2025.
@cameron_bosch good that people finally wake up on the fact that Nintendo is nothing like the characters from their games. It's a pretty despicable company.
It gets worse. They ACITVELY TRIED TO SCAM ME AND MY SISTER. How? First, by trying to redo a purchase my sister's made on her old then expired credit card, it was denied of course, and saw her Nintendo account locked.
I called Nintendo on her behalf, and after at least an hour if not more, they literally mentioned they had no way to move the purchase to another payment method, meaning (indirectly) that they would be unable to fix the issue.
That would likely have led to possible escalation or possibly if that failed, led to potential legal demands for a refund of all games bought on the account. Fortunately, those ultimatums seemed to fix the issue, and they were somehow able to "forgive" the issue and fix the account.
What the actual fuck!?
And second, I had broken my OG Switch from 2017, and while it would turn on, the fan was basically dead and loud.
They said I could send it in to fix it, but they couldn't guarantee the save data wouldn't be lost WHEN THE CONSOLE WAS STILL BOOTABLE.
To fix it and keep my save data, which despite at the time paying for Nintendo Switch Online (since canceled after this BS), my games weren't eligible, so I had to buy a new Switch and do a transfer.
I literally wasted $349 just for a new Switch OLED just months before the Switch 2 was announced just so my data wasn't lost.
If it sounds like I'm very negative against these companies, but more so against Nintendo, that's because it's been well deserved. They literally could treat their loyal fans well and they'd be a great company, but since Iwata died, the company has just made poor decision after poor decision, often hurting their fans in the process.
I went into the Switch era a (relatively) loyal fan.
I went into the Switch 2 era a Nintendo critic, but even "critic" is an understatement.
Nintendo has become a cartel that makes Apple at its worst (around 2013 onward) look like a perfectly ethical and morally justified company, and that's REALLY saying something considering I don't like modern Apple.
I hope their console exclusivity goes the same way Sega's hardware buisness did after the Dreamcast.
Needless to say, I switched to the Steam Deck on release (now on the OLED model), and all third-party games I play are on Steam too, so screw Nintendo.
And that's before we get into the fan creation and emulation legal fuck ups Nintendo has done time and time again while their official games continue to be inconsistent at best and egotistical at worst.
Sorry for this 6 post rant, but bringing this up literally still upsets me, especially because I've gotten into arguments with my sister when I bring it up. She's still a 🐑 and I'm not happy about that. 🙁

Tried to login to my Netflix account and find something interesting to watch and am told I am originating from a device that is not part of my home network and am therefore denied access.
I have three computers here, and two televisions, and I have a block of five static IP addresses from Comcast so I >always< originate from within that block.
I call these fucks on the phone and they refuse to help. I ask to talk to a supervisor and they say 48 minutes. I ask to cancel my account and have them refund my unused balance, they say they can cancel the account but won't refund my money.
What the fuck? They won't provide service, they won't refund my money. I am still waiting on hold for a supervisor. I've already filled out an FCC consumer complaint form. I really hate to waste the money to file a small claims court action over $17 or whatever it is but this is just bullshit.

So I have this #USB #SATA controller from #asmedia . I want to flip some bits in the #firmware for great good. But when I do, the flashing utility fails.
Does anyone have a clue how they might checksum their firmware?
More detail: the controller advertises being self-powered in the USB descriptor and uses a separate 12V power supply. Carrying that supply is annoying me and I want to change the descriptor to the same as my 2.5 inch enclosure, which *does not* need a separate power supply. Worst case, things catch on fire I guess.
Changing the descriptor isn't magically going to make it bus-powered though, it's just a hint for the host in case it needed to do some power budgeting.
@dos How does USB power work then? Does the host limit the current or is it entirely device side? Right now I soldered a bypass wire from USB to the 12V power supply, but it doesn't really do much on its own.
There are some rules and mechanisms for budgeting in the standard, but in practice, you just get 5V on USB's VBus and that's it; the standard tells you how much power you can expect to safely draw from there in various circumstances. Descriptors are mostly to be able to tell the user that they connected too much.
Won't help you as you'd need the host to support it. I think I heard about some Asian device implementing it. Never seen one 😛
PD 1.0 used BFSK modulation over Vbus, which is completely different to USB-C's BMC over CC lines. Only the higher level protocol got reused. BFSK was still a (optional) part of USB-PD 2.0 spec which introduced USB-C support, but it got completely removed in 3.0. Wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a single PD 2.0 implementation that supported it out there.
