News lets you import an already existing list of feeds, or you can create one. It supports folders, and News can auto discover feeds for you. News lets you export your feed list, navigate using the J and K keys of your keyboard, and you can use another app that plugs into nextcloud, like NewsFlash on GNOME.

Next app is Notes. All my scripts and articles are written in Notes. You just get basic markdown support for titles, bold and italic, and section headers, and it lets you place your notes into categories. It also supports versioning. I use Iotas on GNOME to access and edit these notes.

Nextcloud collectives is also interesting, it's a leaner, faster version of something like Confluence. It lets you create Collectives, lets others collaborate and edit them, and they support more advanced syntax, with images or emojis. You can create templates, pages, subpages, you can view page outlines, or add links from one page to another.

For task management, I use Nextcloud Tasks and Deck. Tasks lets you create multiple lists, and multiple tasks per list, with support for tags, start date, due date, priorities, and even completion percentage or current status. As per Nextcloud Deck, it places tasks in boards, that you can customize with all the columns you want, and it supports the same tags and the same properties for each task as Nextcloud tasks.

Next one is Nextcloud passwords. It's a password manager, self hosted on your nextcloud server, so it's less likely to be affected in a wide data breach. It's end to end encrypted. It has a web interface to browse your passwords, but you'll really want to use the browser extensions for Firefox or any Chrome based browser.

Another small app I use every day is External Sites. It lets you add shortcuts to other websites inside your nextcloud menu, and it will open them in your nextcloud interface.

Nextcloud has a connector to let you plug an office suite directly to your nextcloud server. I went for OnlyOffice, and it lets me create new documents straight from the Nextcloud files app, and edit existing ones from the web interface, on any computer I want.

Custom menu is basically give you complete control over how your menu works.

Mastodon integration lets me add my mastodon feed or mentions onto my Nextcloud dashboard.

All my contacts are hosted on Nextcloud, and so are my calendars. They plug in on the desktop with GNOME's online accounts, and on mobile, well it's just caldav and carddav, any OS can access that.

Nextcloud Forms lets you create surveys easily, with multiple question types, single or multiple answers, long form text fields, and more, and it lets you publish a public link to that survey.

Nextcloud photos progressed a TON in the last version of Nextcloud, and now supports albums, editing your photos, sharing them with other people, and it can even auto recognize faces in your various pictures.

Files has the ability to move, copy, paste, favorite your files and folders, you can share them, you can edit them, and it auto syncs with the nextcloud desktop client, and you can access everything from the nextcloud mobile app for iOS and Android.

03:35 Anti cheat is getting worse
07:27 Microsoft could kill Linux gaming
10:17 Valve is our only lifeline
11:33 It's not all bleak!
15:14 Sponsor: Tuxedo Computers

To begin with, we have the current mess that is Steamplay, proton and generally the Valve Steam Deck compatibility rating. This rating changes, and not always positively: it's a measure of how well a game runs RIGHT NOW, it is utterly untrustworthy as a purchasing aid. You can't rely on this rating to purchase a game for Linux or the Steam Deck specifically, because this rating is made by Valve, not by the game developer, it doesn't imply official support from the devs, and if the devs change something for Windows users that breaks Linux gaming, we're out of luck.

Of course, most of these games that become unplayable, or have never been playable, well that's due to anti cheat. The anti cheat situation on Linux is problematic.

EAC from Epic is used by plenty of games that run perfectly on Linux. BattleEye works on Ark survival evolded, or DayZ. This can work, and for pretty big games. So, why are game developers not enabling these solutions for their games when they're run with proton?

The main issue can be twofold here: first, you can't really run an anticheat with proton at the kernel level, because proton doesn't have these privileges, and runs in userpsace. This means they are potentially less effective on Linux. It also means they have to agree to let users that don't have the kernel level anti cheat software play on their servers, meaning some Windows users can now try and make that work, and masquerade as Linux users, while they actively cheat on Windows: it just opens a door for cheaters that are determined enough, a door that you wouldn't have to open if you didn't accept Linux gamers.

areweanticheatyet.com/

sam4k.com/whats-the-deal-with-…

And this is just the Linux related problems. Because Linux games are Windows games, really, that use a third party tool to run. The moment Microsoft implements something that can't legally be reimplemented with proton, or can't technically be reimplemented through Proton, linux gaming is dead.

Have you heard about this rumor that microsoft wants to kill kernel level anticheat? Well it's a false rumor. They want to implement ANOTHER way to have such systme access with less chances of killing the OS, like with the crowdstrike incident. This means that in the future, Microsoft will look at Windows specific ways to run kernel level tools, ways that we likely won't be able to replicate on Linux.

blogs.windows.com/windowsexper…

Linux gaming is propped up by valve right now. Proton has MADE Linux gaming, and currently, I'd argue Linux gaming is basically Steam Gaming. Sure, you can play stuff with Heroic, or Lutris, or another launcher, but it runs with Wine. Wine's development is done mostly by paid employees of Codeweavers, who is funded a LOT by Valve.

Of course, it's not ALL bleak. There are glimmers of hope that we might land on the right side of the cliff.

First, Valve is committed. You don't start your own hardware with the Deck, and its OLED model, if you don't think there's a path to success. We also have other things on the horizon: while Valve says they want to SteamOS for other computers, we also have investment from big companies like Square Enix and Samsung, in playtronOS, another Linux based distro.

We also have Microsoft, adopting Vulkan's shader format instead of their own in DirectX, meaning they are moving towards more open standards, not closing things down.

ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT!!!

YOU made the retarded claim that men are "more selfish than women", which you failed to support with even a shred of evidence.

I said that men are HAPPY TO SUPPORT THEIR WIVES AND FAMILIES, proving that they are NOT selfish, in their large majority!

The problem with woke feminists is that they BELITTLE women who want to be stay-at-home moms and don't get me started on the horrendous misandrist garbage spread by feminists over the last 50-60 years 😡😡😡

Kylie Minogue - Step Back In Time (Official Remastered HD Video)

Remastered in HD to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Step Back In Time.

Kylie’s homage to the 70s disco scene, “Step Back In Time” was the second single from 1990’s “Rhythm Of Love” LP. It reached number 4 in the UK singles chart and number 5 in Australia and is a mainstay of Kylie’s live repertoire to this day.

Lyrics:

I want to funk
I want to f-f-you f-you-n-k
I want to funk, I want to funk
I want to f-f-you f-you-n-k
Non stop dancing the bus stop
To the funky music
Hustle, pumpin the muscle
Blame it on the boogie
Remember the old days
Remember the O'Jays
Walkin' in rhythm, life was for livin'
When you can't find the music
To get down and boogie
All you can do is step back in time
Ball of confusion
When nothing is new, and
There's nothing doin', step back in time
Keep on truckin' along
Riding on a love train
And then we can float on
You'll never go wrong
When you can't find the music
To get down and boogie
All you can do is step back in time
Ball of confusion
When nothing is new, and
There's nothing doin', step back in time
Step back in time
Step back
I want to step back, step back
When you can't find the music
To get down and boogie
All you can do is step back in time
Ball of confusion
When nothing is new, and
There's nothing doin', step back in time

The video was filmed in Los Angeles and directed by Nick Egan. It features Kylie and an entourage of 1970’s dancers driving around downtown LA in a big red Cadillac.

Songwriters: Mike Stock / Matt Aitken / Peter Waterman

Finally it is back! Our AMP! I did sort of miss listening to recorded music. My family had to live with me doing the funk on flute and piano and percussion while it was away.

Now it has been cleaned inside for the first time in thirty years. They didn't need to replace the potentiometer, just clean it, but they (J.A.Radio at Frederiksberg) replaced some resistors in the mumblewhatnotmumti circuitry.

Works perfect! I've already listened to Napalm Death, Debussy and Red hot chili peppers.

Obsidian offers the ability to link notes together, it uses markdown and plain text to store your notes, it has a plugin ecosystem, and the visual knowledge graph that lets you explore topics and the relationships between your notes. BUT it's proprietary, so we have Logseq. It takes notes as markdown files, it has more than 150 plugins, and a bunch of themes, it has mobile apps, it's private, and it does have the same linking features and knowledge graph.

It even lets you create queries to generate tables with all the information you need, based on the links and data you entered in your notes.Logseq even offers their own syncing solution if you want that. It's available for Linux, as an AppImage, and for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android.

Another really powerful app is Notion. While it's free of charge, it's also proprietary and doesn't have an official Linux version.

The closest thing you can find in the open source world will be AppFlowy, and while it's really close, it's not as feature complete just yet. You can create your own structure, with pages and subpages, and you have a few page types, like calendars, boards, tables, or documents. You also can mix these types on the same page, like having a board with cards, that you can also present in a table, or on a calendar, but you won't get as many templates as what Notion offers.

If you want a more full featured app, there's AnyType instead. It's also open source, and has a Linux client and mobile apps, but the interface is a bit more involved and less clear to start with than AppFLowy.

Now this one, you might not have as much control over, generally, a company or project will impose Slack or Microsoft Teams on you. But if you have all the power, then you might want to take a look at Mattermost.

It's a fully open source Slack / MS Teams alternative, that you can self host. It lets you create channels, and chat, with side threads, file sharing, screen sharing, and audio calls. It can be integrated with a bunch of developer tools to automate things, you can format messages with markdown, or code snippets, and all messages can be archived, with full history search.

If all you need to organize yourself is a board, you might use Trello. This one is pretty easy to replace: you can just use Focalboard. You can either self host it if you want to let multiple people access the same board, or you can just use it as a personal app, with a macOS, Windows and Linux application.

If you need to create and edit PDF documents, you might use Acrobat Pro, from Adobe. You can always open them in GIMP, Inkscape, of LibreOffice Draw, but these tend to either open a single page, or break the document's formatting. Libreoffice draw does a great job IF you have all the fonts used in the PDF installed on your system , but editing text is generally handled in a line per line basis, instead of recognizing things as paragraphs, which can be a pain to deal with.

Visual Studio Code's ... code is licensed under the MIT license, so it IS an open source / free software project, but the binary you can get from Microsoft isn't open source. The alternative, thus, is easy: VSCodium. It's built on the open source parts of VS Code, but removes all the tracking, telemetry and proprietary components. It's compatible with VS Code's plugins and extensions, and has the exact same interface and features, but in a nice open source form.

It is recommended to install and use the Akismet plugin. It's free and has worked well for me for the past 25 years or so, with only a handful of spam getting through the filters. 04:21

Gen #AI's Accuracy #Problems Aren't Going Away Anytime Soon, Researchers Say

source: cnet.com/tech/services-and-sof…

The #reliability of AI tools needs to increase dramatically if #developers are going to produce a model that can meet or surpass human #intelligence, commonly known as artificial general intelligence. #Researchers seem to believe improvements at that scale are unlikely to happen soon.
