What could a global revolution look like in the 21st century ? This is what M. E. O’Brien and Eman Abdelhadi have imagined in their book Everything for everyone.
This work of speculative fiction is structured as an oral history project with twelve different interviews. In the 2040s and 2050s, nation states worldwide begin to fall. The combination of climate catastrophe, war, and economic collapse leads to a global revolution, and, in its wake, a new social structure emerges. In place of the old countries governed by oppressive ruling classes, people organize themselves into communitarian communes. This novel imagines a future in which rebellions have brought about post-capitalist worlds. A social and ecological revolution where people have re-organized life, production, reproduction, care, travel, and human connection with the planet.
There are very few science fiction books that describe an effective revolution in detail, rather than a post apocalyptic world. And reading this book can change your worldview. This is the reason why Paloma Moritz has decided to interview its authors so that they can tell about their history of the future…
