- Install alpine in a chroot
- enable the main and community repos (libgpiod is in community)
- packages I installed in my chroot: sciops.net/downloads/rcore-wor…
- Add my repo to /etc/apk/repositories: sciops.net/downloads/alpine/ed…
- Add my pubkey to /etc/apk/keys: sciops.net/downloads/khm-6850e…
- apk add linux-rcore
- delete the /boot/extlinux directory
- put this file in /boot/boot.scr: sciops.net/downloads/rcore-boo…
- format an sdcard with two partitions: partition number one vfat, partition number two ext4
- copy /boot from the chroot to the sdcard's vfat partition
- copy everything else to the sdcard's ext4 partition
- insert the sd card and turn on the computer
- log in as root
- run rmmod dwmac_rk; gpioset -c 3 -t 100ms,100ms,0ms 23=1; modprobe dwmac_rk
- plug an ethernet cable in the computer if you don't have wifi

Getting this artifact going was one of the more complex technology-related projects I've ever attempted, particularly since I knew virtually nothing about pianos to speak of before I started. It's a long saga that I won't trouble you with right now.

This media playback device is now a century old. I'm frequently asked about that big bellows on the left. That is actually a mechanism to keep the paper roll aligned across the playback bar as the paper tends to drift. Watch closely and you can see it making continuous adjustments. Small tabs on either side of the roll send signals to the bellows that then adjusts the playback position in real time. 100 years ago. Amazing tech. The device functions entirely by suction. It has no electronic components. I modified the device to operate from suction from a shop type vacuum cleaner, since using the pedals is ... tiring.

I enjoyed reading this. My grandmother's house was an escape haven for me As well. I never got any welts or bruises there, nor was a berated. She had an apple green glider and rockers on her porch. The first thing I did when we moved I to this house with a wrap around porch was to buy a glider and some rockers for it. Even now, over 50 years later, I still feel the peaceful calm when I sit in them.

Sorry for being later than I thought, I'm having a pretty stressful time lately.
I disagree with the judgement thing, while we obviously don't have full context for Iran's circumstances, I still think we should always challenge and judge power as much as possible to try and always push humanity further towards harmonious living and aiding each other, no matter where they live.
The sanctions point is fair, but I think counting on Oil for Iran's economy was a bad move, which could have been in my opinion at least partly caused by the religious influence, if you want I can elaborate.
Finally, the article (because of the sanctions I'il take it not being recent): It does seem like a mixed bag (I tried my best to ignore the neolib bullshit, but please correct me if some slipped in), while the poverty rates have developed positively, I do think the inequality they mentioned between ages (in employment) and sexes (hopefully don't have to elaborate) is a bad indicator for future development (not just economically, but also in society), so more nouanced than I was, my bad.
Also, is the poverty rate indicator static? I feel like that should be adjusted over time.
